BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention includes a set-up method and an image reading apparatus for performing setup adjustment of an image reading apparatus that forms an image on the image sensor with transmitted light coming from a light source via a translucent object to be read. The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Some image reading devices irradiate light-transmitted objects (for example, color photographic negative film or color photographic positive film) with light emitted from a light source, and image the transmitted light coming from the object to be read. There is an element (for example, an image reading apparatus mounted on an image processing apparatus such as a digital photographic processing apparatus) that forms an image on an element (for example, a charge coupled device (CCD)) and reads an image.
[0003]
In such an image reading apparatus, when reading an object to be read as a color image, as a light source, a white light source such as a halogen lamp, or a plurality of monochromatic light sources that emit light in light wavelength ranges having different peak wavelengths, for example, A plurality of light emitting diode (hereinafter also referred to as LED) elements (for example, at least three LED elements, a red LED element that emits red light, a green LED element that emits green light, and a blue LED element that emits blue light) are used. Sometimes. In any case, a plurality of image sensors (for example, at least three image sensors of a red image sensor, a green image sensor, and a blue image sensor) that receive transmitted light from the light source and passing through the object to be read are provided. The transmitted light coming from the light source through the object to be read is imaged on each of the plurality of image sensors to read the image.
[0004]
In this type of image reading apparatus, conventionally, in order to read an appropriate image from an object to be read such as a color negative film or a color positive film, for example, a setup having characteristics corresponding to the light transmittance characteristic and the color balance characteristic of the object to be read Using the filter, setup adjustments such as (a) optimum light quantity adjustment (appropriate light quantity adjustment), (b) color balance adjustment, and (c) shading adjustment are mainly performed.
[0005]
That is, in (a) the optimal light amount adjustment (appropriate light amount adjustment), for example, the output value of each of a plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving the transmitted light from the light source through the setup filter and receiving the transmitted light. Is adjusted so as to be an appropriate output value within a predetermined range that does not overflow. In the color balance adjustment of (b), for example, output values of a plurality of image sensors obtained by receiving transmitted light coming from a light source via a setup filter have a color balance suitable for the object to be read. Adjust as follows. Further, in the shading adjustment of (c), the illuminance unevenness and undulation of the light source, for example, when a plurality of LED elements are used for the light source and there are a plurality of LEDs in each color LED element, individual LEDs are used. Illuminance unevenness and undulation may occur due to variations in the amount of light, etc., and in order to correct this illuminance unevenness and undulation, a plurality of image sensors obtained by receiving transmitted light coming from a light source via a setup filter The output value of each pixel in each image is adjusted to a value obtained by multiplying the output value of each pixel in each image sensor by a correction value so as to become substantially constant toward a predetermined reference value.
[0006]
When performing such a setup adjustment, for example, in an image reading apparatus that reads a color image using a plurality of LED elements as a light source, the state of light quantity, color balance, illuminance unevenness, and the like may change due to changes in the LED over time. Yes, it is necessary to perform further setup adjustments (for example, periodically) after the setup adjustment.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the setup filter is likely to change with time, and proper setup adjustment cannot be performed if there is a difference in the characteristics of the setup filter adjusted last time. In order to avoid this problem, it is conceivable to use a new filter for each adjustment. However, such a setup filter has a large variation in manufacturing lots, and when adjusting the setup, the characteristics of the setup filter adjusted last time may vary. In any case, proper setup adjustment cannot be performed.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and is an image reading apparatus setup method and image processing apparatus that reads an image using a light-emitting diode element as a light source, and is likely to cause a change over time, manufacturing lot variations, and the like. It is an object of the present invention to provide an image reading apparatus setup method and an image processing apparatus capable of appropriately performing setup adjustment without using a setup filter.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventor has made extensive studies to solve the above problems, and has found the following.
[0010]
That is, the light emitting diode element generally has a characteristic that the amount of light increases proportionally as the input current increases. The present inventor pays attention to this characteristic of the light-emitting diode element, and when the output value of the imaging device does not overflow as the coefficient for the light-emitting diode, the input current from the light-emitting diode element when there is no object to be read If the ratio of the input current from the light emitting diode element when there is an optical aperture filter having a light transmittance corresponding to the light transmittance of the object to be read in advance, the output of the image sensor does not overflow. The light amount of light that directly arrives at the imaging element from the light emitting diode element with the input current reduced without passing through the optical diaphragm filter is obtained by multiplying the reduced current by the coefficient obtained in advance. This is approximately the same as the amount of transmitted light arriving at the image sensor from the element via the optical diaphragm filter. Therefore, when performing setup adjustment, the input current of the light-emitting diode element is reduced so that the output of the imaging element does not overflow without the optical diaphragm filter, so that the color balance suitable for the object to be read is obtained. After that, if the amount of light at the time of reading the image is maintained by applying the coefficient obtained in advance to the input current of the light emitting diode element adjusted by the setup adjustment, variation with time and variation in production lots It is possible to perform an appropriate setup adjustment without using a setup filter or the like that is likely to occur.
[0011]
The present invention is based on such knowledge, and in order to solve the above-described problems, the following image reading apparatus setup method and image processing apparatus are provided. That is,
(1) Setup method of image reading device
Light that is emitted from a plurality of light-emitting diode elements that emit light in the light wavelength region having different peak wavelengths is applied to a translucent read object and transmitted through the read object. A setup method for performing setup adjustment of an image reading apparatus that forms an image of light on a plurality of imaging elements and reads an image, and transmits light from the plurality of light emitting diode elements corresponding to the light transmittance of the read object The output values of the plurality of image pickup devices obtained by receiving the transmitted light through the optical aperture filter having a rate are appropriate output values within predetermined ranges that do not overflow. The input current value of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements can be directly input from the plurality of light emitting diode elements without passing through the optical diaphragm filter. Each of the plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving the light by each incoming light is divided by the input current value of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements so that the output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements becomes the respective appropriate output value. The coefficient is obtained in advance,
When performing the setup adjustment, the output values of the plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving the light directly from the plurality of light emitting diode elements without passing through the optical diaphragm filter are obtained. The input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is reduced so as not to overflow, and the input current is adjusted so that the color balance is suitable for the object to be read.
Except when performing the setup adjustment (for example, when reading an image after the setup adjustment), the respective input current values of the plurality of light emitting diode elements are changed to the respective input current values adjusted by the setup adjustment. A method for setting up an image reading apparatus, characterized in that each input current value obtained by multiplying each coefficient obtained in advance is used.
[0012]
(2) Image processing device
A light source unit that includes a plurality of light emitting diode elements that emit light in a light wavelength range having different peak wavelengths, and that irradiates light to be read from the plurality of light emitting diode elements to a read object having translucency;
An imaging unit including a plurality of imaging elements that respectively receive transmitted light passing through the object to be read from the plurality of light emitting diode elements;
An image forming unit that is disposed on an optical path between the object to be read and the image pickup unit and forms an image of transmitted light from the object to be read on the plurality of image pickup devices; An image processing apparatus comprising an image reading device that reads an image by causing the imaging unit to form an image of transmitted light arriving through an object on the imaging unit,
By each transmitted light coming from each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements through an optical aperture filter having a light transmittance corresponding to the light transmittance of the object to be read. Input current values of the plurality of light emitting diode elements are set so that the output values of the plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving the light become appropriate output values within respective predetermined ranges that do not overflow. The output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving the light directly from each diode element without passing through the optical diaphragm filter is set to the appropriate output value. Coefficient storage means for storing each coefficient divided by the input current value of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is provided. The image processing apparatus according to claim.
[0013]
The light emitting diode (hereinafter also referred to as LED) element includes a single LED or a plurality of LEDs, for example, an LED element in which a plurality of LEDs are arranged in a predetermined direction, a so-called line LED element. As a typical example of the image pickup device, a charge coupled device (CCD) can be given. Any one or all of the plurality of imaging elements may be integrally formed. Examples of the object to be read include a color photographic negative film and a color photographic positive film.
[0014]
In the image reading apparatus setup method and image processing apparatus according to the present invention, first, the respective coefficients for the plurality of light emitting diode elements are obtained in advance.
[0015]
In other words, in the case where the output value of each of the plurality of imaging devices does not overflow, the coefficient corresponds to the input current from the plurality of light emitting diode elements when there is no object to be read. The ratio of the input currents from the plurality of light emitting diode elements when there is an optical aperture filter having a light transmittance corresponding to the light transmittance, and input so that the output of each of the plurality of imaging elements does not overflow The amount of each light that directly arrives at the plurality of imaging elements from the plurality of light-emitting diode elements with the current reduced without passing through the light diaphragm filter is determined in advance for the reduced current, respectively. The plurality of imaging devices from the plurality of light emitting diode elements having an input current multiplied by a coefficient of Becomes substantially equal to the amount of each of the transmitted light coming to the child.
[0016]
As described above, according to the setup method and the image processing apparatus of the image reading apparatus according to the present invention, the light diaphragm filter is formed from the plurality of light emitting diode elements whose input currents are narrowed so that the outputs of the plurality of imaging elements do not overflow. From the plurality of light-emitting diode elements having an input current obtained by multiplying the throttled current by the respective coefficients obtained in advance, the light amounts of light that directly arrive at the plurality of imaging elements without going through Since the amount of transmitted light arriving at the plurality of imaging elements via the optical diaphragm filter is substantially the same, when performing setup adjustment, the plurality of light emitting diode elements are not passed through the optical diaphragm filter. Output values of each of the plurality of image sensors obtained by receiving the light directly with each light arriving at The input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is reduced so as not to flow, and the respective input currents are adjusted so as to obtain a color balance suitable for the object to be read. When the image is read after the setup adjustment), the respective input current values of the plurality of light emitting diode elements are multiplied by the respective coefficients obtained in advance by the respective input current values adjusted by the setup adjustment. By using the respective input current values obtained in the above, setup adjustment can be appropriately performed without using a setup filter that is likely to change over time or manufacturing lot variations.
[0017]
In this adjustment, the input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is narrowed so that the output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements does not overflow, and the input current is adjusted so that the color balance is suitable for the object to be read. Therefore, the color balance can be adjusted while setting the optimum light amount. At this time, shading adjustment for correcting illuminance unevenness or the like may be performed.
[0018]
The coefficients for the plurality of light emitting diode elements to be obtained in advance are obtained in advance for, for example, one (or several) standard image reading devices that are representative among the image reading devices of the same type. It may be a reference value (or an average value), or may be a value obtained in advance for each image reading apparatus at the time of factory shipment. In the case of obtaining each image reading device in advance at the time of factory shipment or the like, the setup adjustment can be performed with higher accuracy than in the case of obtaining in advance for one or several standard image reading devices.
[0019]
In the image processing apparatus according to the present invention, the respective coefficients for the plurality of light emitting diode elements obtained in advance are read out from the coefficient storage means in which the respective coefficients for the plurality of light emitting diode elements obtained in advance are recorded. Thus, the respective input current values for the plurality of light emitting diode elements are obtained by multiplying the respective input current values adjusted by the setup adjustment by the respective coefficients read from the coefficient storage means. It can be a current value. This setup adjustment may be performed manually by an operator, or when such an image processing apparatus is to be set up and adjusted, the light is directly transmitted from the light source unit without passing through the light diaphragm filter. The input values of each of the plurality of light-emitting diode elements are reduced so that the output values of the plurality of image-capturing elements obtained by receiving light do not overflow so that the color balance suitable for the object to be read is obtained. Except when adjusting the current and performing the setup adjustment (for example, when reading the image after the setup adjustment), the respective coefficients for the plurality of light emitting diode elements are read from the coefficient storage means, Each input current value of the light emitting diode element is adjusted by the setup adjustment. By configuring such that the respective input current value obtained by multiplying the respective coefficients read out from the coefficient storage unit to the input current value of les may be performed automatically.
[0020]
Examples of the case where the input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is adjusted to adjust the input current so as to achieve a color balance suitable for the object to be read include the following cases.
[0021]
That is, a color balance suitable for the read object of each of the plurality of imaging elements obtained by receiving each transmitted light coming from the plurality of light emitting diode elements via the optical diaphragm filter. A reference output value is further obtained in advance, and when adjusting the input current of each of the plurality of light-emitting diode elements, the input current of each of the plurality of light-emitting diode elements is determined based on the output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements. In this case, adjustment is made so that the respective reference output values obtained are obtained. In this case, the image processing apparatus according to the present invention receives each transmitted light that is an output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements and arrives through the light diaphragm filter from the plurality of light emitting diode elements. Reference output value storage means for storing a reference output value that provides a color balance suitable for the object to be read of each of the plurality of obtained image sensors may be further provided.
[0022]
In this image processing apparatus, the reference output values of the plurality of image sensors that have been obtained in advance are read out from the reference output value storage means in which the reference output values of the plurality of image sensors that have been obtained in advance are stored. Thus, the input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is adjusted so that the output value of each of the plurality of imaging elements becomes the respective reference output value read from the reference output value storage unit. Can do. The setup adjustment may be performed manually by an operator, or the image processing apparatus is configured to adjust the input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements, and the reference output of each of the plurality of imaging elements obtained in advance. The reference output value of each of the plurality of image pickup elements obtained in advance is read from the reference output value storage means in which the value is stored, and the input current of each of the plurality of light emitting diode elements is read from each of the plurality of image pickup elements. The adjustment may be automatically performed by performing the adjustment so that the output value becomes the respective reference output value read from the reference output value storage unit.
[0023]
As the filter for the optical aperture, any filter having a light transmittance corresponding to the light transmittance of the object to be read, more specifically, having a light transmittance within the range of the light transmittance of the object to be read can be used. For example, characteristics corresponding to light transmittance characteristics and color balance characteristics of the object to be read (for example, color photographic negative film) (for example, light transmittance is about 20% red, about 10% green, blue A setup filter having a characteristic of about 6% may be used, and an ND (Neutral Density) filter having a substantially uniform transmittance for each wavelength (for example, a transmittance of about 10% for each wavelength). May be used.
[0024]
Each of the reference output values obtained in advance is, for example, from the plurality of light emitting diode elements for one (or several) standard image reading devices that are representative of the same type of image reading devices. A value (or an average value) such that the output values of each of the plurality of image pickup devices obtained by receiving the transmitted light through the light diaphragm filter have a color balance suitable for the object to be read. )And it is sufficient. This value varies depending on the light transmittance characteristics of the optical diaphragm filter.
[0025]
By the way, the peak wavelength of the light emitting diode element may fluctuate with respect to the temperature change, and the peak wavelength may fluctuate with the temperature change of the light emitting diode element due to the increase or decrease of the input current. Accordingly, it is desirable that the plurality of light emitting diode elements be maintained at a predetermined temperature. In this case, the image processing apparatus according to the present invention may be configured such that the plurality of light emitting diode elements are maintained at a predetermined temperature. By doing so, the temperature of the light emitting diode element can be maintained at a predetermined temperature regardless of the increase or decrease of the input current, and the peak wavelength can be maintained at the predetermined peak wavelength.
