Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer sheet and a double-side transfer method for transferring an image, characters, symbols, and the like to both sides of a transfer object by a thermal transfer method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, gradation images and monotonous images such as characters and symbols have been formed on a transfer object using a thermal transfer method. As the thermal transfer system, a thermal sublimation transfer system and a thermal melt transfer system are widely used.
[0003]
Among these, the heat-sensitive sublimation transfer method is a method in which a thermal transfer sheet in which a sublimation dye layer in which a sublimation dye used as a color material is melted or dispersed in a binder resin is supported on a base sheet is stacked on the base, a thermal head, etc. By applying energy corresponding to image information to the heating device, the dye contained in the sublimable dye layer on the thermal transfer sheet is transferred to the transfer target to form an image.
[0004]
In addition, the heat-sensitive melt transfer method is a method in which a heat transfer sheet provided with a heat-meltable ink layer containing a colorant such as a pigment and a vehicle such as wax is superimposed on a base material sheet, and an image is applied to a heating device such as a thermal head. This is a method of forming an image by transferring a softened heat-meltable ink layer component onto a transfer medium by applying energy according to information.
[0005]
However, the above-described thermal sublimation transfer method can control the amount of dye transfer in dot units according to the amount of energy applied to the thermal transfer sheet, so it is excellent for gradation images, but monotonous images such as letters and symbols are density and sharpness images. Therefore, it was not suitable for recording OCR characters, barcodes and the like that are optically read. In addition, although the heat-sensitive heat-melt transfer method can easily form monotonous images such as characters and symbols, it has a drawback that it is difficult to form gradation images such as face photographs.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In order to solve the problem of transfer to a transfer medium by the above-described thermal transfer method, a composite type thermal transfer sheet in which a sublimation dye layer and a heat-meltable ink layer are provided in a surface sequence on a continuous base sheet. It is done to transfer using. As this thermal transfer sheet, for example, as shown in FIG. 10, the
[0007]
However, for example, after a gradation image is formed on the surface of the transfer object using the sublimation dye layer 72 (72Y, 72M, 72C), and characters are transferred using the black ink layer 73 (BK). Then, the protective layer 74 (OP) is transferred to the entire surface (the transfer so far is transferred using the first repeating unit (YMC-BK-OP)), and then the front and back sides of the transfer target are reversed. The black ink layer 73 (BK) is used to transfer characters and the like on the back surface of the transfer target (transfer so far is performed using the second repeating unit (Y-MC-BK-OP)). In this case, of the second repeating unit (YMC-BK-OP), only the black ink layer 73 (BK) is used, and the sublimation dye layer (72Y, 72M, 72C) and the protection are used. Layer 74 (OP) is never used. Since the second repeating unit in which only the black ink layer 73 (BK) is used cannot be used for transferring a new transfer target, the transfer to the new transfer target is performed by the following third and fourth transfer units. This is done using repeating units. That is, every other repeating unit (YMC-BK-OP) in which the sublimable dye layer (72Y, 72M, 72C) and the protective layer 74 (OP) are not used is present in the thermal transfer sheet. Therefore, the efficiency of double-sided transfer is poor, which hinders reduction in running cost.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described circumstances, and provides a thermal transfer sheet and a double-side transfer method for efficiently transferring images, characters, symbols, etc. to both sides of a transfer object by a thermal transfer method. Objective.

Various methods are possible as a method for reactively fixing the reactive ultraviolet absorber to the resin. For example, a conventionally known monomer, oligomer, or reactive polymer resin component and addition polymerization as described above can be used. A copolymer can be obtained by radical polymerization of a reactive ultraviolet absorber having a reactive double bond.
[0078]
When the reactive ultraviolet absorber has a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a carboxyl group, an epoxy group, an isocyanate group, etc., a thermoplastic resin having the above reactive group and reactive group is used, and if necessary, a catalyst Can be used to reactively fix the reactive ultraviolet absorber to the thermoplastic resin by heat or the like.
[0079]
The monomer components copolymerized with the reactive ultraviolet absorber include methyl (meth) acrylate, ethyl (meth) acrylate, propyl (meth) acrylate, butyl (meth) acrylate, isobutyl (meth) acrylate, and t-butyl (meth). Acrylate, isodecyl (meth) acrylate, lauryl (meth) acrylate, lauryl tridecyl (meth) acrylate, tridecyl (meth) acrylate, seryl stearyl (meth) acrylate, stearyl (meth) acrylate, ethylhexyl (meth) acrylate, octyl (meth) ) Acrylate, cyclohexyl (meth) acrylate, benzyl (meth) acrylate, methacrylic acid, hydroxyethyl (meth) acrylate, hydroxypropyl (meth) acrylate, dimethyl Minoethyl (meth) acrylate, diethylaminoethyl (meth) acrylate, t-butylaminoethyl (meth) acrylate, glycidyl (meth) acrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl (meth) acrylate, ethylene di (meth) acrylate, diethylene glycol (meth) acrylate, tri Ethylene glycol di (meth) acrylate, tetraethylene glycol di (meth) acrylate, decaethylene glycol (meth) acrylate, pentadecaethylene (meth) acrylate, pentacontahector ethylene glycol (meth) acrylate, butylene di (meth) acrylate, allyl (Meth) acrylate, trimethylolpropane tri (meth) acrylate, hexanediol di (meth) acrylate, tripropylene Glycol di (meth) acrylate, pentaerythritol tetra (meth) acrylate, pentaerythritol hexa (meth) acrylate, dipentaerythritol hexa (meth) acrylate, 1,6-hexanediol di (meth) acrylate, neopentyl glycol penta (meth) ) Acrylate, phosphazene hexa (meth) acrylate, and the like.
[0080]
In addition, the above substances may be used not only as monomers but also as oligomers, and furthermore, acrylic reactive polymers such as polyester acrylates and epoxy acrylates made of polymers of the above substances or derivatives thereof can also be used. is there.
[0081]
These monomers, oligomers, and acrylic reactive polymers may be used alone or in combination.
[0082]
By copolymerizing the above-mentioned thermoplastic resin monomer, oligomer, or acrylic reactive polymer with a reactive UV absorber, a thermoplastic copolymer resin with a fixed reactive UV absorber is obtained. The ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c is formed from this copolymer resin.
[0083]
The above-mentioned copolymer resin contains a reactive ultraviolet absorber in the range of 10 to 90% by weight, preferably 30 to 70% by weight. If the content is less than 10% by weight, satisfactory light resistance by the ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c cannot be obtained, and if it exceeds 90% by weight, stickiness at the time of coating and forming the ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c, Causes problems such as bleeding.
[0084]
Moreover, the molecular weight of said copolymer resin is about 5000-250,000, More preferably, it is about 9000-30000. When the molecular weight is less than 5000, the coating strength of the ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c is insufficient, and when it exceeds 250,000, the film breakage when forming the ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c by the transfer method is deteriorated.
[0085]
In addition, the above copolymer resins and conventionally known benzophenone-based, benzotriazole-based, salicylic acid ester-based, and hindered amine-based organic UV absorbers, and inorganic UV absorbers such as titanium oxide, zinc oxide, and cerium oxide. The ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c may be formed by using an agent together.
[0086]
The ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c can be formed using a known means such as gravure coating, gravure reverse coating, roll coating, or the like. The thickness of the ultraviolet absorbing layer 24c to be formed is about 0.1 to 8 [mu] m, preferably about 1 to 5 [mu] m.
