BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a communication apparatus such as a facsimile apparatus and a telephone apparatus, and a computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as the communication apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, a facsimile machine sends and receives image data such as text and photos to and from other facsimile machines. If an error occurs during data transmission, a transmission error report with an image that reproduces the data is sent. Some have a function to print out. According to such an error report output function, when there is a transmission error, the front page image is recorded on one sheet in a somewhat reduced form together with information such as a transmission date and time and an error page. By using such a report, it is possible to easily check an error situation such as when the image data transmitted is an error.
[0003]
On the other hand, this type of facsimile apparatus is equipped with a remote transmission function for transmitting the requested image data to the other party when there is a read request from the other party to the image data stored in the memory. There are also products. In this remote transmission function, image data is stored in advance in a memory such as a RAM of its own device, and when a signal for remote transmission is received from the other party, the image in the memory is then transmitted to the other party according to the facsimile transmission procedure. Data is sent. According to this, even if there is no user who should operate the transmission source facsimile apparatus, a remote user who knows the remote transmission operation can extract necessary data from the transmission source facsimile apparatus. As this remote transmission, polling transmission, retrieval transmission, etc. are common.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the facsimile apparatus using both the error report output function and the remote transmission function, a transmission error report is output in the same manner as other data transmissions even when there is a transmission error during remote transmission. For this reason, for example, when there is a problem on the partner apparatus side, a transmission error report is output each time a remote transmission instruction is repeatedly issued. The transmission error report that is output with such remote transmission is not so important for the user of the transmission source, and when a transmission error report is printed out for a large number of sheets, an image is displayed on the report. If it is included, the consumables are wasted.
[0005]
Specifically, when a transmission error report is printed on a cut sheet, if there are multiple transmission errors in remote transmission, multiple transmission error reports describing the same error content will be output. In addition, toner, ink, and the like are consumed wastefully with the cut paper. Further, in the case of roll-shaped thermal paper, an image is included in the transmission error report, so that a considerable length of thermal paper is consumed for each transmission error.
[0006]
The present invention has been proposed in view of the above points, and when both the error report output function and the remote transmission function are used in combination, it is possible to reduce the consumption of consumables due to a transmission error as much as possible. An object of the present invention is to provide a communication device that can be used, and a computer-readable storage medium that stores a program for causing a computer to function as the communication device.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the communication device of the invention described in
[0008]
According to such a communication apparatus, only when there is a transmission error in remote transmission, a transmission error report that does not include an image is output. Therefore, even in a situation where a transmission error report is output for each remote transmission. The consumption of consumables can be reduced by the amount not including the image. For example, when printing a transmission error report on a cut sheet, the amount of toner and ink used can be reduced. In the case of roll-shaped thermal paper, the length required to record an image is saved. And a short paper-like transmission error report.
[0009]
[0010]
[0011]
[0012]
According to such a communication apparatus, even in a situation where a transmission error report is output for each remote transmission, it is possible to reduce the consumption of consumables by an amount not including an image. For example, when printing a transmission error report on a cut sheet, the amount of toner and ink used can be reduced. In the case of roll-shaped thermal paper, the length required to record an image is saved. And a short paper-like transmission error report. Further, it is possible to omit a transmission error report that is not so important for the user of the transmission source, and it is possible to suppress wasteful consumption of consumable parts. Furthermore, when there is a transmission error in remote transmission, the transmission source user can select either to output a transmission error report that does not include an image or not to output the transmission error report itself. Therefore, both the error report output function and the remote transmission function can be used together according to the user's preference.

According to such a communication device, claims 1 to 3 In addition to the effects of the communication device described in any of the above, when the remaining amount of consumables such as recording materials or recording paper is reduced, the report output control means is automatically switched to operate, It is possible to prevent the remaining consumables from being consumed in order to output low-importance data, and the consumables can be used effectively. For example, even if a transmission error occurs during remote transmission, there is a possibility that a transmission error may have occurred due to a malfunction on the device itself. By doing so, it is possible to recognize and deal with problems on its own device side. On the other hand, if the remaining amount of consumables is low, other important data can be output by operating the report output control means. Can be prioritized.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be specifically described with reference to the drawings.
[0022]

Although not shown in FIG. 1, the facsimile apparatus can be connected to a personal computer or the like via a serial cable or a parallel cable and used as a printer or a scanner.
[0026]
Explaining the main point, this facsimile machine mainly transmits and receives image data such as characters and photographs with the other party, but this facsimile machine sends the data if an error occurs during data transmission. It has a function to output a transmission error report with a reproduced image.
[0027]
FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram for explaining an example of a transmission error report. As shown in this figure, the transmission error report is an image of a front page together with error information A such as a transmission date and time and an error page. The image B is recorded on one sheet in a reduced form. Such a transmission error report is output from the

On the other hand, after storing image data in the
[0029]
In this facsimile apparatus using both the error report output function and the remote transmission function, a transmission error may occur during remote transmission. In this case, the transmission error report accompanying the remote transmission is recorded by the image B. Without being output, only error information A is recorded. In addition, it is possible to set a mode in which the transmission error report itself accompanying remote transmission is not output according to the user's selection. Such a transmission error report accompanying remote transmission is not so important for the user of the transmission source and is not necessarily required for remote transmission, and can be omitted as much as possible under the control of the

[0061]
Therefore, according to the facsimile apparatus having the above-described configuration and operation, when there is a transmission error in remote transmission, a transmission error report that does not include the image B is output, so a transmission error report is output for each remote transmission. Even so, consumption of consumables such as ink and thermal paper can be reduced by the amount not including the image B.
[0062]
In addition, when there is a transmission error in remote transmission, the user can also select a mode that does not output a transmission error report, so it is possible to omit a transmission error report that is not so important for the user at the transmission source, and consumable parts accordingly. Can reduce wasteful consumption.
[0063]
Also, without using the setting information of the
[0064]
Furthermore, these functions are always turned off, and a common transmission error report is output regardless of the transmission type, and the above functions are turned on at a predetermined timing. It may be.
[0065]
For example, as shown in FIG. 5, first, the
[0066]
When it is determined that the recording process has been completed (S30: YES), the
[0067]
In addition, when recording with roll-shaped thermal paper without using the recording material as described above, it is determined whether the remaining amount of thermal paper is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, and the transmission error report output function is turned on. The processing may be such that the / off state is switched.
[0068]
According to such processing, when the remaining amount of consumables such as recording materials or recording paper is low, the output is automatically prohibited so that the output of the error report or the attachment of the image B is prohibited. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the remaining consumables from being consumed in order to output data with relatively low importance, and the consumables can be used effectively.
[0069]
Also, even if it is a transmission error in remote transmission, there is a possibility that a transmission error has occurred due to a malfunction on its own device side. By setting it, it is possible to recognize and deal with problems on the device side. On the other hand, if the remaining amount of consumables is low, output of a transmission error report is prohibited or image image B is attached. By prohibiting it, priority can be given to the output of other important data.
[0070]
The timing of detecting the remaining amount of consumables is not limited to after the recording process is completed, and may be performed every predetermined time.
[0071]
Further, in the operation procedure of FIG. 3, the determination whether to prohibit the output of the error report or to output the error report with only the error information A recorded is made based on the setting information of the

Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, a case has been described in which setting information of the

In the present embodiment, the case where communication is performed between facsimile apparatuses has been described. However, the counterpart terminal apparatus is not particularly limited to a facsimile apparatus, and may be a personal computer having a facsimile function. .
[0074]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the communication device of the first aspect of the invention, a transmission error report that does not include an image is output only when there is a transmission error in remote transmission. Even in the situation where an error report is output, the consumption of consumables can be reduced by the amount not including the image. For example, when printing a transmission error report on a cut sheet, the amount of toner and ink used can be reduced. In the case of roll-shaped thermal paper, the length required to record an image is saved. And a short paper-like transmission error report.
[0075]
[0076]
And claims 2 According to the communication device of the invention described in (2), even in a situation where a transmission error report is output for each remote transmission, it is possible to reduce the consumption of consumables by the amount not including the image.
