Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a water-repellent printing paper having excellent water repellency and simultaneously having normal printing workability.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in order to impart water repellency to paper, a wax-based emulsion, an organic silicon derivative, an olefin-based resin, or the like is impregnated or coated with equipment such as a size press.
[0003]
These water-repellent papers have no problem in printability except for printing workability, but because of the characteristic that the paper is slippery, various troubles occur in paper processing, especially when printing, landslides, poor paper feeding, paper Due to problems such as misalignment, it has not been used for wide applications as printing.
[0004]
However, among the water repellents described above, the olefin resin is relatively non-slipable. However, when the moisture content at the time of production is 5 to 7% by weight as in normal printing paper, it depends on the measurement conditions of JIS P8137. In order to obtain a water repellency of R8 or higher, a large amount of water repellent must be used. As a result, the paper becomes slippery and has not been used for a wide range of printing paper.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a printing paper that has a water repellent effect that does not hinder outdoor use in rainy weather, and that is not slippery and has excellent printing workability.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
As a result of detailed investigation and research on paper drying conditions, the inventors of the present invention focused on a water repellent agent that is relatively hard to slip, including a maleated petroleum resin alkali salt and liquid paraffin as main components. In order to complete the present invention, it was found that by controlling the moisture content at the time, it is possible to obtain a printing paper that exhibits a high degree of water repellency with a small amount of water repellent and at the same time has slipperiness that allows normal printing operations. It came.
[0007]
The present invention impregnates or coats a support mainly composed of pulp fibers with a water repellent composed mainly of maleated petroleum resin alkali salt and liquid paraffin, and the water content after drying is 2.5-3. Water-repellent printing paper which is dried to 5 wt%, has a water repellency based on JIS P8137 of R8 to R10, and a static friction coefficient based on JIS P8147 of 0.27 to 0.55 It is.
[0008]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention impregnates or applies a water repellent containing a maleated petroleum resin alkali salt and liquid paraffin to a paper with a known surface sizing agent in a size press in the manufacturing process of printing paper, and at the same time enhances drying conditions. Thus, the water-repellent printing paper has both water repellency and non-slip (static friction coefficient capable of normal printing) by keeping the moisture content just after production low. The water repellency of the water-repellent printing paper of the present invention is R8 or more, and if it is less than R8, the water repellency is insufficient for applications assuming outdoor use in rainy weather.
[0009]
The support mainly composed of pulp fibers is a raw material generally used for high-quality paper, and paper that has not been subjected to size press obtained by using a paper machine. That is, the raw paper pulp may be either softwood, hardwood bleached or unbleached, and it does not contain talc, calcium carbonate, etc. as a filler, or other paper strength enhancers, coloring dyes, internal sizing agents, etc. May be. Usually, the rice tsubo is about 35 to 300 g / m 2 .
[0010]
The water repellent mainly composed of maleated petroleum resin alkali salt and liquid paraffin used in the present invention is mixed and melted with 70 to 90% by weight of maleated petroleum resin potassium or sodium salt and 10 to 30% by weight of liquid paraffin. Or it dissolves in an organic solvent, for example, polyoxyethylene steacryl ether, which is a nonionic emulsifier, is 1 to 5% by weight, and tall oil fatty acid is 5 to 15% by weight as a protective colloid agent. Blended and emulsified and dispersed in water.
[0011]
The water repellent printing paper of the present invention is applied with the water repellent impregnated and applied in an amount of 0.1 to 1.0 g / m 2 (single side) in solid content. If the coating amount is less than 0.1 g / m 2 , the water repellency is insufficient, and if it exceeds 1.0 g / m 2 , the static friction coefficient decreases and the printing workability deteriorates. The coefficient of static friction is 0.27 to 0.55, but if it is less than 0.27, there is a problem in terms of printing workability such as slipping of the paper and breakage of the printing paper, and conversely a value exceeding 0.55. Is difficult to achieve due to the application of a water repellent agent, and it is not preferred because troubles in which several printing sheets are simultaneously conveyed are likely to occur.
[0012]
Further, in the present invention, the water content of the water-repellent printing paper is 2.5 to 3.5% by weight after drying (immediately after production) in order to reduce the static friction coefficient so as to reduce the coating amount and at the same time to obtain high water repellency. However, if it exceeds 3.5% by weight, it will be difficult to increase the water repellency of the paper surface. Conversely, if it is less than 2.5% by weight, the load on the dryer will be too great and the equipment and energy costs will be reduced. This is a problem.
[0013]
The water-repellent printing paper is preferably smoothed with an on-machine calendar, a super calendar or the like after drying. The surface Beck smoothness should be in the range of 35 to 100 seconds, and if it is less than 35 seconds, it is difficult to use it for a wide range of applications as printing paper, and values exceeding 100 seconds are unnecessarily large values for printability. In addition, the load on the calendar increases, which is not preferable.
[0014]
The water content after drying of the water-repellent printing paper of the present invention refers to the water content in the reel of the paper machine, and the total weight of the test piece of the water-repellent printing paper is used as the denominator, and the weight of water content is obtained as the numerator. It is a numerical value. Measurement conforms to JIS P8127.
[0015]
The numerical values of the water repellency, Beck smoothness, and static friction coefficient of the present invention were obtained by sampling a paper test piece, leaving it in a constant temperature and humidity room according to JIS P8111, and reaching a steady state. It is a numerical value, and the paper moisture at the time of measurement is 5.5%.
[0016]

EXAMPLES The present invention will be described below with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples. In addition,% and a part show weight% and a weight part unless there is particular notice.
[0017]
(Comparative example)
The following chemicals were blended in 100% hardwood bleached kraft pulp in the following proportions to make papermaking materials, and high-quality paper was made using a known long net multi-cylinder papermaking machine. Furthermore, the following surface sizing agent is blended with the following water repellent and applied by a size press at a solid content (solid content of only the water generating agent) of 0.8 and 1.0 g / m 2 (single side conversion), respectively, immediately after production. the water content as 3.0, 5.0%, a basis weight of 100 g / m 2, to obtain on-machine calendering and Bekk smoothness of 40 seconds of paper (a target value). Table 1 shows the water repellency, static friction coefficient, smoothness, and printing workability of this paper.

(3) Water repellent containing 84% maleated petroleum resin potassium salt and 16% liquid paraffin [0021]
However, the printing workability was evaluated according to the following criteria using a normal offset 4-color machine.
○ There is no particular problem.
Δ When opening and setting the packaging of the printing paper in the printing press, there is a slight slip at the boundary (interval) for each packaging unit of the printing paper, but printing is possible.
× When opening and setting the packaging of printing paper on a printing press, the border of the printing paper for each packaging unit (sliding) is large, the set appearance is disturbed and printing is impossible.
[0022]
[Table 1]
Figure 0003743130
[0023]
From Table 1, when the moisture content during production is 5.0%, a coating amount of 0.8 g / m 2 is necessary to obtain a water repellency of R8 or more. In this case, the coefficient of static friction is 0.15 to 0.26. The workability at the time of printing deteriorated. Among the water repellents, the water repellent of the present invention had a relatively high coefficient of static friction, and there was little deterioration in printing workability.
[0024]
(Example)
Using a known long-mesh multi-cylinder paper machine, papermaking materials are blended according to the same formulation as in the comparative example, and a surface sizing agent is formulated using the water repellent (3) in the same formulation as in the comparative example. Then, the solid content of only the water repellent is applied by a size press at 0.3 to 1.0 g / m 2 (one side conversion), the moisture content immediately after production is 3.0 to 3.5%, and the basis weight is 100 g. / M 2 , paper with Beck smoothness of 40 seconds (target value) was obtained. Table 2 shows the results of evaluating the water repellency, static friction coefficient, smoothness, and printing workability of this paper.
[0025]
[Table 2]
Figure 0003743130
[0026]
As is clear from Tables 1 and 2, the water repellency increased with the same application amount of the water repellent by lowering the water content during production. That is, when the moisture content during production is 4.0% or more, the static friction coefficient is reduced because the application amount of the water repellent is 0.8 g / m 2 or more in order to obtain the water repellency R8 or more. Printing workability deteriorated. On the other hand, when the water content during production is 3.5% or less, the water repellency is R8 or more and the static friction coefficient is 0.32 to 0.45 even when the coating amount of the water repellent is 0.5 g / m 2 or less. Workability was also good.
[0027]
【The invention's effect】
Since the water-repellent printing paper of the present invention has a large coefficient of static friction on the paper surface, it has a printing workability comparable to that of normal printing paper and enables a wide range of printing. It can be used for a wide range of fields such as field book paper, golf score cards, posters, and labels.
