【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、電子写真方式を用いた複写機、プリンタ及びファクシミリ装置等における定着装置に関し、更に詳細には部品点数が少なく、かつ、組み立てが容易な定着装置の構造に関するものであり、さらにこの定着装置を備えた電子写真装置及び定着装置の組み立て方法に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
電子写真装置における定着装置のうち、ヒータを内蔵したヒートローラを用いたものは、未定着トナー像を担持した記録紙をヒートローラに押しつける加圧ローラを有して構成されている。ところが、これら定着装置を構成するヒータやヒートローラ、及び加圧ローラなどはそれぞれ耐久寿命が異なるため、実公平5−48207号公報には、ヒートローラと加圧ローラを上側フレームと下側フレームに別々に収容して上下に配し、ヒートローラと加圧ローラを圧接してそのニップ部に未定着トナー像を有した記録紙を挿通させて定着を行うようにし、上下フレームの分離でヒートローラと加圧ローラの交換を容易にできるようにした定着装置が示されている。

また最近この種の定着装置は、小型軽量化、及び低コスト化の要求と保温性の確保のため、特開平9−16007号公報に見られるように、筐体そのものを耐熱性樹脂で構成するものが提案されている。すなわちこの特開平9−16007号公報に示された装置は、筐体を耐熱性樹脂で構成し、ヒートローラと加圧ローラの回転軸を補強板に枢支して筐体内に上下に収容すると共に、補強板にこれを貫通して加圧レバーの支点となる支軸を設け、この補強板と支軸によって筐体を補強するようにしている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながらこの実公平5−48207号公報に示された装置は、加熱手段であるヒートローラと加圧ローラ、及び加圧ローラをヒートローラ方向へ圧接する押圧手段などを金属製の筐体の中に収容し、保温性や高温状態での操作性確保、及びガイド機能付加などのために耐熱性樹脂で作った外装カバーを配設しているため、部品点数が多く、組み立て工数も多くかかり、高価な定着装置となっていた。

また特開平9−16007号公報に示された装置は、筐体の補強のために各ローラ両端軸受け部に金属板で作成した補強板が必要であり、さらにこの筐体は、長方形筐体の長手方向両側にこの軸受け部を設けているためネジレや回転負荷振動に弱く、フレーム間を補強する加圧レバー支軸などを要し、性能と部品点数に難点があった。

そこで、本発明はかかる従来技術の課題に鑑み、小型で部品点数が少なく、かつ、組み立てが容易で低コストの定着装置、この定着装置を備えるのに最適な電子写真装置及び定着装置の組み立て方法を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するため本発明においては、定着装置の筐体を、記録紙搬送方向に対して略直角の方向に本体とフタ体の2つに分割可能とし、ヒートローラと加圧ローラ対を本体に収容するようにした。そして本体側のこれらヒートローラと加圧ローラを支持するハウジングを、支点を中心として回動可能な2つに分割すると共に分割したそれぞれの相対する面に開放部を有するU字状部を設け、このU字状部で前記ローラ対のそれぞれを支持するようにし、これら筐体を2つに分割したこと、及びハウジングに設けたU字状部でローラ対を支持することで、ヒートローラと加圧ローラの交換、組み立てを容易に行えるようにした。

そしてこのヒートローラと加圧ローラを支持する2つに分割したハウジングに、支点とは逆側に前記ローラ対を圧接する手段を設けると共に、このハウジングの左右、及び下部に曲げ部で構成したリブを作り、ローラ軸と平行に前記筐体への固定面がリブを介して存在するようにして、力が掛かってもローラ軸面のハウジング面が曲がらないようにし、かつこのリブ面を、筐体へのハウジング固定のためのガイドとするようにした。

このようにすることで、ヒートローラと加圧ローラは単にハウジングに設けたU字状部に挿入するだけで組み立てが可能となり、かつハウジングは、左右と下部に設けたリブでネジレや回転負荷、振動などに強い定着装置が少ない部品点数で安価に構成できる。

そのため本発明においては、加熱定着用ローラ対を定着装置筐体に収容した定着装置において、
前記定着装置筐体に収納され前記ローラ対を支持するハウジングを、支点を中心として回動可能に2つに分割すると共に分割したハウジングの相対する面のそれぞれに開放部を有するU字状凹部を設け、該U字状凹部で前記ローラ対のそれぞれを支持し、前記2つに分割したハウジングの支点とは逆側の前記開放部側に、前記2つに分割したハウジング同士を前記支点回りに引き付ける方向に付勢して前記ローラ対を圧接する手段を設けたことを特徴とする。

このようにローラ対を支持するハウジングを構成することにより、前記したようにヒートローラと加圧ローラは単にハウジングに設けたU字状部に挿入するだけで組み立てが可能となり、少ない部品点数で容易に組み立て、分解の可能な定着装置を提供でき、さらに、簡単な構成で加圧ローラをヒートローラに圧接することができる。

そして前記ローラ対を支持するハウジングの両側端及び下部にリブを設け、リブの一部としてローラ軸と平行に定着装置筐体への固定面が存在することを特徴とする。
このようにすることで、ネジレや回転負荷等の応力がかかっても両側端及び下部のリブで吸収されてハウジングそのものが曲がることがなく、圧接したヒートローラと加圧ローラのニップ圧を一定にでき、かつ、振動などに強い定着装置が少ない部品点数で安価に構成できる。

このようにすることで、筐体を組むことが容易にでき、かつ、筐体自体の補強部材としても機能させることができる。

そして本発明になる定着装置の筐体は、記録紙搬送方向に対して略直角方向に、ローラ対を収容した本体とフタ体とに分割可能に構成したことを特徴とする。
このように定着装置を構成することで、定着装置を構成するフタ体を取り外すだけでヒートローラと加圧ローラを容易に前記ハウジングに組み込むことができ、メンテナンスの容易な定着装置を提供することができる。

そして本発明になる電子写真装置は、前記加熱定着用ローラ対の回転中心軸間の線が、電子写真装置の水平方向に対して略平行に構成された、あるいは前記筐体の分割される分割基準面が、電子写真装置の水平方向に対して略平行に構成されたことを特徴とする。
このような電子写真装置を形成することで、電子写真装置の略垂直搬送路を形成する途中に定着装置を配設することができ、定着装置の装脱着時の作業性、装置内載置時の保管性が向上する電子写真装置を提供することができる。
また、本発明によれば、加熱定着用ローラ対を定着装置筐体に収容して電子写真装置における定着装置を組み立てる定着装置組み立て方法において、前記定着装置筐体は記録紙搬送方向に対して略直角の方向に第1及び第2の筐体に分割可能とされ、前記ローラ対を支持するハウジングを、支点を中心として回動可能に2つに分割すると共に、分割したハウジングの相対する面のそれぞれに開放部を有するU字状凹部を設けてなり、前記分割したハウジングを前記第1の筐体に組み込んだ後前記U字状凹部で前記ローラ対のそれぞれを支持する第のステップと、前記2つに分割したハウジングの支点とは逆側の前記開放部側に、前記2つに分割したハウジング同士を前記支点回りに引き付ける方向に付勢して前記ローラ対を圧接する手段を設ける第のステップとを有することを特徴とする定着装置組み立て方法が得られる。
さらに、本発明では、加熱定着用ローラ対を定着装置筐体に収容して電子写真装置における定着装置を組み立てる定着装置組み立て方法において、前記定着装置筐体は記録紙搬送方向に対して略直角の方向に第1及び第2の筐体に分割可能とされ、前記ローラ対を支持するハウジングを、支点を中心として回動可能に2つに分割すると共に、分割したハウジングの相対する面のそれぞれに開放部を有するU字状凹部を設けてなり、前記U字状凹部で前記ローラ対のそれぞれを支持して前記2つに分割したハウジングの支点とは逆側の前記開放部側に、前記2つに分割したハウジング同士を前記支点回りに引き付ける方向に付勢して前記ローラ対を圧接する手段を設けて組み立て体とする第のステップと、該組み立て体を前記第1の筐体に組み込む第のステップとを有することを特徴とする定着装置組み立て方法が得られる。

以下、図面に基づいて本発明の実施の形態を例示的に詳しく説明する。但し、この実施の形態に記載されている構成部品の寸法、材質、形状、その相対配置などは、特に特定的な記載がない限りはこの発明の範囲をそれのみに限定する趣旨ではなく、単なる説明例に過ぎない。

本発明における定着装置は、図1に示したようにPET、PBT等からなる耐熱性樹脂で構成した第一筐体1と第二筐体2とからなり、この第一筐体1に第二筐体2を図2のように組み込むことで定着装置となる構成である。そして一方の第一筐体1に、ヒートローラ3、加圧ローラ4、該ヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4のローラ対を支持するハウジングを構成する前フレーム6と後フレーム7、ハウジングの一部を構成し、加圧ローラ4を支持してヒートローラ3に圧接するための加圧レバー14などからなる定着ローラユニットが装着され、記録紙は第一筐体1に収容されたヒートローラ3、加圧ローラ4の間を通って第二筐体2の記録紙搬送路11方向に送り出される。そしてこの第一筐体1と第二筐体2は、図1から明らかなように、記録紙搬送方向に対して略直角方向に、ローラ対を収容した本体とフタ体とに分割可能に構成されている。

このうち、第一筐体1に装着された定着ローラユニットにおけるハウジングを構成する前フレーム6と後フレーム7は、図3、及び図4に示したように、ヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4の軸線方向に長方形形状をし、一端に加圧レバーピン15を支点として加圧レバー14を回動自在に取り付けてあり、かつ長手面の一方側に加圧レバー14と相対する面にU字状の凹部とした開放部17、18を設けてある。また加圧レバー14には、図4に19として示したU字状の凹部が設けてある。

そしてヒートローラ3は、図5に示したように前フレーム6と後フレーム7のU字状の凹部17、18にヒートローラの軸受け12を嵌合して支持し、一方加圧ローラ4は、加圧レバー14のU字状の凹部19に軸受13を嵌合して支持される。そしてこの加圧レバー14と前フレーム6、及び後フレーム7は、図3に示したように支点(加圧レバーピン)15と逆側に設けたバネ16で結合され、加圧ローラ4がヒートローラ3に圧接される。

またこの前フレーム6と後フレーム7は、平面形状では強度を保てないため、U字状の開放部とは反対面側に、組み上げたときに前記ヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4の軸と平行になるように略フレーム全長に曲げ部(リブ)6a、7a、及び短手面両側にも曲げ部(リブ)6b、7b、6cで構成したリブを形成して強度を確保してある。そして、図6、図7に示したように、第一筐体1に、この前フレーム6と後フレーム7のリブ6a、7a、及び6b、7b、6cを嵌め込むための基準部を設け、この前フレーム6と後フレーム7を保持する。なおこの基準部への前フレーム6と後フレーム7の取り付けは、単に差し込むだけでも良いし、ネジ止めできるようにしても良い。そしてこの前フレーム6と後フレーム7のリブ6b、7b、6cは、図8、図9に示したように、第二筐体2を第一筐体1と合体固定するためのガイドも兼ね、さらにこの前フレーム6のリブ6b、6cは、電子写真装置本体と連結保持する取付穴を備えて、定着装置を固定できるようにされている。

このように電子写真装置の定着装置を第一筐体1と第二筐体に分けて構成し、かつ第一筐体1にヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4を収容したことにより、これらヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4のメンテナンスが非常に簡単にできるようになる。また、ヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4は、前フレーム6と後フレーム7で構成されるハウジングに設けたU字状の凹部の開放面側から容易に組み付けることができ、さらに組み立てにあたっては、図4に示したように前フレーム6と後フレーム7を先に第一筐体1に組み込み、その後図5のようにヒートローラ3を組み込んだ後で加圧ローラ4を組み込むようにしても、また逆に、前フレーム6と後フレーム7で構成されるハウジングにヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4を組み込み、その後第一筐体1に組み込むようにもできる。

また、定着装置の構成部品はハウジングを構成する前フレーム6と後フレーム7、及び加圧レバーとヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4を圧接するためのバネだけであり、部品点数が少ないから定着装置を安価に構成できる。さらにハウジングを構成する前フレーム6と後フレーム7には、前記したようにU字状の開放部とは反対面側に、組み上げたときに前記ヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4の軸と平行になるよう略フレーム全長に曲げ部6a、7a、及び短手面両側にも曲げ部6b、7b、6cで構成したリブを形成して強度を確保してあるから、ネジレや回転負荷等の応力がかかっても左右、及び下部のリブで吸収されてハウジングそのものが曲がることがなく、圧接したヒートローラ3と加圧ローラ4のニップ圧を一定にでき、かつ、振動などに強い定着装置が少ない部品点数で安価に構成できる。

図10は、本発明の定着装置28を搭載した電子写真装置を示す図であり、略垂直搬送路上に画像形成部を配置し、上部に排紙部とストック部、下部に給紙装置、略垂直搬送路の画像形成部に対向する側面カバー近傍に両面搬送路を構成した電子写真装置21の断面図であり、給紙装置22、給紙ローラ23、レジストローラ24、転写ローラ25、感光体および体電器等の周辺器を含む画像形成手段26、レーザユニット27、第1排出分岐手段29、第2排出分岐手段30、排紙ローラ対31、スタック部32、両面搬送路33を備えている。

【発明の効果】
以上記載の如く本発明によれば、ヒートローラと加圧ローラを支持するハウジングを、支点を中心として回動可能に2つに分割すると共に分割したハウジングの相対する面のそれぞれに開放部を有するU字状凹部を設けたことにより、ヒートローラと加圧ローラは単にこのU字状部に挿入するだけで組み立てが可能となり、少ない部品点数で容易に組み立て、分解の可能な定着装置を提供でき、さらに、2つに分割したハウジングの支点とは逆側の前記開放部側に、前記ローラ対を圧接する手段を設けたことにより、簡単な構成で加圧ローラをヒートローラに圧接することができる。
