従来、図に示すように、排気マニホールド1の下流側に固設された触媒ケース2内には、保持材6で周囲を包まれた状態で触媒5が内装されている。即ち、触媒5はセラミック製ハニカム形状に形成されており、強度が低く、エンジン等の振動とか、触媒ケース2との熱膨脹差などで破損する虞れがあるため、金属製のワイヤーメッシュあるいはガラス繊維など復元力のある材料で形成された前記保持材6で包んだ状態で触媒ケース2内に内装されるのであり、触媒5を固定保持させるために、触媒5の下流端には触媒ズレ止め用のキャップ52が設けられ、また、触媒ケース2の外側より触媒5内に固定ボルト51が挿入されたものとなっており、従来では、触媒5及び保持材6とキャップ52を触媒ケース2内にしっかりと固定すべく、触媒5の挿入代を管理して組み立てられている。しかし、この挿入時の管理幅は、触媒5の強度が低いために、挿入代が大きいと、触媒5が破損しやすく、また、挿入代が小さいと、触媒5がしっかりと固定されずに、エンジンの運転中にキャップ52が動いたりして触媒5を破損させてしまうため、精度良く挿着する必要があり、組立作業が困難を伴うという問題点があり、また、部品点数が多くなり、高価なものとなるという問題点があった。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は上記従来の問題点に鑑み案出したものであって、部品点数が少なく、組立作業も容易となる触媒ケースを提供せんことを目的とし、その要旨は、保持材に包まれた触媒が内装される触媒ケースにおいて、前記保持材は触媒の下流端より下流側へはみ出したはみ出し部を有し、前記触媒が下流側へ移動した時に、前記触媒ケースの出口下流側に固設されるアウトレットから触媒ケース出口の拡径部内に突出される突出部に形成されたロート状部により、前記はみ出し部を介し前記触媒の下流端が当接保持されるように構成されていることである。

以下、本発明の実施例を図面に基づいて説明する。
図1は、触媒を内装した触媒ケースの断面構成図であり、また図2は、要部拡大断面構成図である。

円筒状の触媒ケース2内には、外周を保持材6で包まれた状態で触媒5が内装されており、保持材6の下流端は、触媒5の下流端よりもさらに下流側へはみ出した、はみ出し部6aを形成した状態で内装されている。

なお、図に示すように、突出部7の外径D1は、触媒ケース2の内径D0よりも大きく形成されたものとなっており、保持材6のはみ出し部6aが突出部7の外周側へ入り込むことのないように設定されている。即ち、ロート状部7aは保持材6を外周に巻いた状態の触媒5の外径寸法よりも大径に形成されており、このロート状部7aに良好にはみ出し部6aを介在して触媒5の下流端外周が保持されるように構成されている。

なお、図に要部拡大断面図で示すものは、前記アウトレット3のフランジ部3aに対し、触媒ケース2の拡径部2aの外側に突出状にフランジ部2bを一体形成させて、フランジ部3aとフランジ部2aを整合させてボルト8により締め付け、触媒ケース2に対しアウトレット3を固設した構造であり、このようなボルト8による締結構造においても、同様にアウトレット3に一体状に突出部7を形成させ、この突出部7の内側に傾斜状のロート状部7aを形成させておき、触媒5を良好に保持させることができるものとなる。

【発明の効果】
本発明は、保持材に包まれた触媒が内装される触媒ケースにおいて、前記保持材は触媒の下流端より下流側へはみ出したはみ出し部を有し、前記触媒が下流側へ移動した時に、前記触媒ケースの出口下流側に固設されるアウトレットから触媒ケース出口の拡径部内に突出される突出部に形成されたロート状部により、前記はみ出し部を介し前記触媒の下流端が当接保持されるように構成されていることにより、触媒の下流側で触媒が傷付くことなくアウトレットを固設させることができ、アウトレットの突出部に形成したロート状部で良好に触媒を受け止めて保持することができるものとなる。また、触媒の挿入作業を容易に行うことができるものとなる。
