従前より使用されている炭起こし器は、周知のとおり、底面を目皿とした容器形状で、周壁部分に持ち手を付設してなるもので、容器部内に炭を入れ、ガスコンロなどを使用して火起こしをするものである。

ところで、屋外でのバーベキュー調理などに使用するために炭起こしが必要であるが、その場合点火用として携帯コンロを用いる。しかし、通常のガスコンロと同様な使用手段で火起こしを行うと、携帯用コンロのカセット式ガスボンベが加熱による爆発事故を招いてしまう。

本発明に係る炭起こし器は、下部筒体の内部上方に、前記下部筒体より小径とした上部筒体を、適宜な周面空間を有せしめて一体に連結し、下部筒体周面に多数の通気孔を穿設し、上部筒体底面に目皿を設けてなることを特徴とするものである。

従って上部筒体内の目皿上に炭を収納し、コンロ上に載置し、コンロのバーナーに添加し、炭を加熱すると、バーナーの熱で炭に点火し、炭が起こされる。そして下方の点火した炭火の熱が、バーナー側に反射しても、下部筒体内空間の熱気は、周面空間を通って外部に放出されるので、バーナー炎が存在する下部筒体内空間の異常温度上昇は避けることができるので、携帯用コンロでも安全に火起こしが可能となる。
