本発明は、可燃性廃棄物等の乾燥に用いるに適したドラム式熱風乾燥機に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
可燃性廃棄物を焼却や溶融または固形化の前工程で乾燥させるために、従来からドラム式熱風乾燥機が使用されている。このドラム式熱風乾燥機は、水平またはわずかに傾斜させて設置された回転ドラムの一端から、乾燥対象物である可燃性廃棄物を投入し、回転ドラム内に熱風を吹き込みながら回転ドラムの内周面に突設された送り羽根と、攪拌軸に設けられた攪拌羽根とにより乾燥対象物を移動させ、他端の排出口から乾燥された状態で取り出す形式のものである。

このようなドラム式熱風乾燥機は、通常状態で運転されている場合には全く問題がない。しかし何らかの原因でドラム式熱風乾燥機を含む廃棄物処理設備が非常停止したような場合には、当然に回転ドラムの回転も停止し、回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分に乾燥の進んだ可燃性廃棄物が堆積したままとなる。そして設備が非常停止すると同時に熱風の供給も停止するものの、回転ドラム内のO2濃度がリーク空気等により上昇し、停止直後の回転ドラム内は高温であるために、内部に堆積している可燃性廃棄物が次第に加熱され、回転ドラム内で自然発火するおそれがある。

もしこのような発火による火災があると、作業員が駆けつけて迅速に消火を行う必要がある。しかも一旦火災が発生すると消火の確認までに時間がかかり、再び設備全体が通常運転状態に戻るまでに長時間を要することとなる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は上記した従来の問題点を解決し、設備が非常停止した場合にも、火災を発生させるおそれのない安全性にすぐれたドラム式熱風乾燥機を提供するためになされたものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の課題を解決するためになされた本発明のドラム式熱風乾燥機は、内周面に送り羽根を備えた回転ドラムの一端から乾燥対象物を投入し、熱風により乾燥させながら他端の排出口から取り出すドラム式熱風乾燥機において、回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分の内周面に、前記送り羽根とは逆向きのらせん羽根を設けるとともに、設備の停止操作時に回転ドラムを通常運転時とは逆向きに回転させるようにしたことを特徴とするものである。なお、設備の非常停止時に回転ドラム内の排出口に近い部分に加湿用の水を噴霧するためのノズルを設けておくことが好ましい。

本発明のドラム式熱風乾燥機は、設備の停止操作時に回転ドラムを通常運転時とは逆向きに回転させることにより、回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分の内周面に設けられた逆向きのらせん羽根によって回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分にある乾燥の進んだ可燃性廃棄物を速やかに排出口に送り出すことができる。このため、従来のように回転ドラム内で自然発火するおそれがない。また、設備の非常停止時に回転ドラム内の排出口に近い部分に加湿用の水を噴霧すれば更に確実に火災発生を防止することができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下に本発明の好ましい実施の形態を説明する。
図1において、1は水平に設置された円筒状の回転ドラムであり、両端部を支持ローラ2、2により回転自在に支持されている。またこの回転ドラム1の外周にはドラムスプロケット3が設けられており、ドラム回転用モータ4によりチェーン5を介して一定方向に回転されている。なお、回転ドラム1はわずかに傾斜させて設置しても差し支えない。

この回転ドラム1の一端には乾燥対象物の投入口6が設けられ、他端には乾燥対象物の排出口7が設けられている。回転ドラム1の内周面には図2に示すような単羽根状の送り羽根8が設けられ、投入口6から回転ドラム1の内部に投入された乾燥対象物を回転ドラム1の回転と攪拌軸11に取り付けられた攪拌羽根12により徐々に排出口7に向けて移送される。図1では省略されているが、送り羽根8は回転ドラム1の円周及び軸方向に一定ピッチで多数枚設けられている。

上記の構成は従来のドラム式熱風乾燥機と同様であるが、本発明では回転ドラム1の排出口7に近い部分の内周面に、送り羽根8とは逆向きのらせん羽根13を設けてある。このらせん羽根13は図3に示されるような連続羽根である。図示の例ではらせん羽根13は排出口7側の端部から約1.5 回転分だけ設けてあるが、通常は1.0 〜2.0 回転分程度設ければよい。このらせん羽根13は短かすぎたり低すぎると設置した効果が少なく、逆に長すぎたり高すぎると通常運転状態における乾燥対象物の移送を阻害するので、上記の程度が好ましい。

ドラム回転用モータ4は通常運転状態では回転ドラム1を、一定方向に低速回転させるものである。しかし設備の非常停止時には、回転ドラム1を通常運転時とは逆向きに回転させる。その結果、回転ドラム1の排出口7に近い部分にある乾燥の進んだ可燃性廃棄物は、このらせん羽根13によって速やかに排出口7に送り出すされる。このため、従来のように回転ドラム1内で自然発火するおそれがない。また、これと同時に回転ドラム1の排出口に近い側の端面に設けたノズル14から加湿用の水を噴霧すれば、より確実に回転ドラム1内の自然発火を防止することができる。

なお、上記のらせん羽根13は送り羽根8とは逆向きであるため、通常運転状態では送り羽根8と攪拌羽根12により移送されてくる乾燥対象物を押し戻すように作用する。しかし次々と移送されてくる乾燥対象物はらせん羽根13を乗り越えて排出口7に向かうこととなるから、このらせん羽根13は通常運転状態においては乾燥対象物の排出料をほぼ一定に保つ副次的な機能をも併せ持つものである。

以上に説明したように、本発明のドラム式熱風乾燥機は回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分の内周面に、前記送り羽根とは逆向きのらせん羽根を設けるとともに、設備の非常停止時に回転ドラムを通常運転時とは逆向きに回転させるようにしたものである。このため、設備の非常停止時には回転ドラムの排出口に近い部分にある乾燥の進んだ可燃性廃棄物を速やかに排出口に送り出すことができる。従って、従来のように回転ドラム内で堆積した可燃性廃棄物が自然発火するおそれがない。なお、回転ドラム内のらせん羽根が設けられていない部分に堆積した可燃性廃棄物はそのまま回転ドラム内に止まるが、乾燥程度が低く水分を含むため、自然発火のおそれはない。
