この発明は、衛星通信、地上マイクロ波通信、移動体通信に使用するフィードフォワード増幅器に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
図9は例えば米国特許4,394,624号に開示されたフィードフォワード増幅器を参照して作成した、従来のフィードフォワード増幅器の構成を示すブロック図である。図において、1は歪検出回路、2は歪除去回路、3は主増幅器信号経路、4は線形信号経路、5は主増幅器出力経路、6は歪注入経路であり、このフィードフォワード増幅器は基本的に2つのループ及びそれらを制御する回路により構成されている。1つ目のループである歪検出回路1は主増幅器信号経路3と線形信号経路4から構成され、2つ目のループである歪除去回路2は主増幅器出力経路5と歪注入経路6から構成されている。

次に動作について説明する。
まず歪検出回路1の動作について説明する。入力端子31に入力された入力信号は、電力分配器11により主増幅器信号経路3及び線形信号経路4に分配される。主増幅器信号経路3の入力信号はベクトル調整器12により振幅と位相が調整され、主増幅器13により増幅されて電力分配器20に入力される。線形信号経路4の入力信号は方向性結合器14を介して電力合成器21に入力され、電力分配器20により分配された主増幅器13からの信号と電力合成される。電力合成器21から歪注入経路6への出力は、入力信号の信号成分が削減され、主増幅器13から発生する歪成分となる。すなわち、残留信号成分を含む歪成分が歪注入経路6に入力される。

歪検出回路1における方向性結合器14から取り出された入力信号の信号成分(ここでは、V1A(t)とする)は制御回路36に入力される。また、歪除去回路2における方向性結合器23から取り出された残留信号成分を含む歪成分は(ここでは、V1B(t)とする)が制御回路36に入力される。

図11は制御回路36,37が出力する設定値W(t)の収束特性を示す図であり、設定値W(t)が初期値Woから繰り返して更新され収束値Wmに収束する様子を示している。図11(a)に示すように、収束特性101は収束値Wmに収束するまで時間がかかっているが、各設定値W(t)は安定している。また、収束特性102は収束値Wmに収束するまでの時間が速いが、各設定値W(t)は大きく変化し安定性が低下している。さらに、安定性が低下すると、図11(b)の収束特性103に示すように、設定値W(t)は収束値Wmに収束せずに発散してしまうことがある。

このような歪抽出回路1及び歪除去回路2の制御の過程において、制御の収束性と安定性を確保することは重要である。図10に示す制御回路36,37は、いわゆる適応フィルタのアルゴリズムにより、ベクトル調整器12,25の設定値W(t)を求めるものであり、以下に、適応フィルタのアルゴリズムと設定値W(t)の収束性について説明する。

従来のフィードフォワード増幅器は、以上のように構成されているので、歪検出回路1及び歪除去回路2の制御において、主増幅器13及び補助増幅器26が非線形の場合には、ベクトル調整器12,25の設定値Wの収束性が劣化するという課題があった。
