【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、多心光ファイバを複数本の単心光ファイバに分岐する光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、多心光ファイバを複数本の単心光ファイバに分岐する多心単心変換用光ファイバとしては、例えば図8に示すように、4心または8心の光ファイバテープ1の一端を光コネクタ2を取り付けて他の光ファイバテープ3と光接続可能に成端し、光ファイバテープ1の途中から単心光ファイバ心線5に切り裂いて補強した分岐部4を介して複数本の単心の光ファイバ心線5に単心分岐し、さらに、光ファイバ心線5の端末は、単心用の光コネクタ6を取り付けて他の光ファイバ心線と光接続可能に成端している。また、光ファイバ心線5は、光ファイバテープ1から分岐した線なので、光ファイバテープ1の被覆を除去すれば径が250μm以下になることが普通であるので、補強チューブに挿入して補強する。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、架空クロージャの光ファイバ接続作業では、光ファイバケーブルからテープ心線を取り出し、このテープ心線を単心へ変換する作業が必要な場合が多く生じている。この場合には、予め工場内で製造した、両端にMT(Mechamically Tramferable)コネクタ付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバを準備し、前記テープ心線の端部に多心単心変換用光ファイバの多心側のMTコネクタを現場接続する必要がある。多心単心変換用の光ファイバテープ1を接続切替可能に成端する場合にはMTコネクタを取り付ける必要があるが、MTコネクタの接続端面は高い精度が要求され、研磨装置等の接続用の各種工具が必要であるため、現場での組み立ては作業工数が多く、作業が困難な場合もあった。

本発明は、前述の課題に鑑みてなされたもので、光ファイバケーブルから引き出された多心光ファイバへのMTコネクタの接続作業が無く、組み立てが容易で、しかも接続切替を簡便に行うことができ、現場の接続工事に際して汎用性が向上し、多心光ファイバとの接続が容易な光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバを提供することを目的とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明では、以下の構成を前記課題の解決手段とした。
(請求項1) 多心光ファイバ(13)を複数本の単心光ファイバ(11)に分岐する光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバであって、
複数本の単心光ファイバと、これら単心光ファイバの一端部を集合固定して、多心光ファイバを構成する光ファイバ(14)と突き合わせ接続する光ファイバ接続器(15)とを具備してなり、
前記光ファイバ接続器は、ベース(16)と、該ベース上面(17)上に装着されることにより単心光ファイバに突き合わせ接続した多心光ファイバをベースとの間にクランプして突き合わせ状態を保持する押さえ蓋(18)と、前記ベースと前記押さえ蓋とを内装してベースと押さえ蓋とにクランプ力を付与するC型バネ(19)と、ベースと押さえ蓋との間において単心光ファイバの一端部に露出された裸ファイバ(12)を調心位置決めして固定し、ベースと押さえ蓋との間に挿抜される多心光ファイバの端部に露出させたおいた裸ファイバ(14)と突き合わせ接続する調心機構として、前記ベース上面に並行に複数配列させて形成されたV溝(21)とを具備し、

前記開口部材挿入口に前記開口部材を挿入してC型バネによるクランプ力を解除した状態で、前記多心光ファイバを、前記光ファイバ接続器の、前記ベース上面の長手方向他端部が位置する側の端部から前記テープ心線収納溝に挿入してゆき、前記多心光ファイバの端部の裸ファイバを前記V溝に挿入することで、単心光ファイバの裸ファイバと突き合わせ接続できるようになっていることを特徴とする光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ(10)。
(請求項2) 前記V溝の一端部は、他端部に対して放射状に分散されて、前記単心線収納溝から挿入された各単心光ファイバ心線の一端部に露出されている裸ファイバ(12)を前記ベース上面の長手方向中央部に集合する集合溝(22)とされていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項3) 前記押さえ蓋は、ベース上面の一端部に装着される単心線クランプ板(27)と、ベース上面の他端部に装着されるテープクランプ板(28)の2部材から構成され、単心線クランプ板の前記ベースに形成されている単心線収納溝と対向する部分には単心線収納溝(29)が形成され、テープクランプ板の前記ベースに形成されているテープ心線収納溝と対向する部分には光ファイバテープの被覆部分を収納するテープ心線収納溝(30)が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項4) 単心線クランプ板の中央部には、ベースと単心線クランプ板との間に接着剤(31)を注入するための接着剤注入孔(32)が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項3記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項5) 前記C型バネが、2箇所に形成されたスリット(34)によって、長手方向に3分割され、前記光ファイバ接続器の多心光ファイバが挿入される側の端部である挿入端部側をクランプする領域(19c)と、光ファイバ接続器の中央部をクランプする領域(19b)と、前記光ファイバ接続器の前記挿入端部とは反対側をクランプする領域(19a)とが、それぞれ単独で変形可能であることを特徴とする請求項3又は4記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項6) 請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバにおいて、多心光ファイバ側の光ファイバ心線の径が250μmであり、単心光ファイバの径が250μm以上であることを特徴とする光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項7) 請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバにおいて、多心光ファイバが複数本の光ファイバを同一平面上に配列してなり、光ファイバ接続器のベースと押さえ蓋との間に、複数本の単心光ファイバを同一平面上に配列して多心光ファイバの各光ファイバと突き合わせ接続可能に調心位置決めするV溝(21)を具備し、該V溝で調心位置決めした各単心光ファイバの先端位置を揃えて固定したことを特徴とする光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。
(請求項8) 前記V溝が、ベース上面の長手方向中央部に装着された調心ピースに形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下本発明の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバの実施の形態を図1から図7を参照して説明する。
図中符号10は、本実施の形態の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバ(以下、多心単心変換用光ファイバ)である。多心単心変換用光ファイバ10は、図1から図3に示すように、4本の単心光ファイバ心線11(単心光ファイバ)と、これら単心光ファイバ心線11の一端部から導出した裸ファイバ12を集合固定して、多心光ファイバとしての4心光ファイバテープ13から導出した裸ファイバ14(光ファイバ)と突き合わせ接続する光ファイバ接続器15とを具備している。

前記光ファイバ接続器15は、ベース16と、該ベース16の上面17(図3参照)上に装着されることにより、突き合わせ接続した単心光ファイバ心線11と光ファイバテープ13とをベース16との間にクランプして突き合わせ状態を保持する押さえ蓋18と、ベース16と押さえ蓋18とにクランプ力を付与するクランプ手段としてのC型バネ19とを備えている。

ベース16と押さえ蓋18とは、互いに重ね合わせることにより二つ割り円柱体を構成する、ともに断面半円形のロッド状の部材である。
図3および図4に示すように、ベース上面17の長手方向(図3、図4左右方向)中央部には、単心光ファイバ心線11と光ファイバテープ13の双方の裸ファイバ12、14同士を位置決め調心して突き合わせ接続するための調心ピース20が装着されている。調心ピース20の上面上には、ベース上面17の長手方向に沿って貫通するV溝21が4本並列に形成されている。これらV溝21は、ベース16と押さえ蓋18との間において光ファイバテープ13を単心光ファイバ心線11に対して突き合わせ接続可能に調心位置決めする調心機構として機能するものである。
V溝21の一端部(図3、図4左側)は、他端部に対して放射状に分散されて、開口端部から挿入された各単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12を調心ピース20の中央部に集合する集合溝22とされている。

ベース上面17の長手方向一端部(図3、図4左側)には、光ファイバ接続器15内に固定する単心光ファイバ心線11の被覆部分23を並列に収納する単心線収納溝24が形成されている。ベース上面17の長手方向他端部には、光ファイバテープ13の被覆部分25を収納するテープ心線収納溝26が形成されている。
単心線収納溝24と調心ピース20との間のベース上面17には、単心線収納溝24に収納した単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12を集合溝22を介してV溝21の他端部側に導く導入溝17aが形成されている。テープ心線収納溝26と調心ピース20との間のベース上面17には、テープ心線収納溝26に収納した光ファイバテープ13の裸ファイバ14をV溝21に導く導入溝17bが形成されている。導入溝17bには、光ファイバテープ13の端末から導出した図示しない心線部が収納されるようになっている。裸ファイバ14は、前記心線部の先端の被覆を除去した部分である。また、各心線部の径は、250μmに揃えられている。

押さえ蓋18は、図3に示すように、ベース上面17の一端部に装着される単心線クランプ板27と、ベース上面17の他端部に装着されるテープクランプ板28の2部材から構成されている。単心線クランプ板27およびテープクランプ板28の、単心線収納溝24またはテープ心線収納溝26と対向する部分には、単心光ファイバ心線11や光ファイバテープ13の被覆部分23、25を収納、クランプするための単心線収納溝29またはテープ心線収納溝30が形成されている。
単心線クランプ板27の中央部には、ベース16と単心線クランプ板27との間に接着剤31(図4参照)を注入するための接着剤注入孔32が形成されている。
単心線クランプ板27およびテープクランプ板28の、単心線収納溝29やテープ心線収納溝30、接着剤注入孔32以外の部分は、V溝21や導入溝17a、17bに配置した裸ファイバ12、14をこれらV溝21や導入溝17a、17bの深部に向けて押圧する押圧面を形成している。

C型バネ19は、図1に示すように、互いに重ね合わせたベース16と押さえ蓋18の外側に装着されて、これらベース16および押さえ蓋18を互いに圧接する方向に締め付けて一体化状態を保持するようになっている。また、C型バネ19の側面に開口する開口部33は、互いに重ね合わされたベース16と押さえ蓋18との境界に一致されている。開口部33の長手方向二カ所には、C型バネ19の周方向に沿って延在するスリット34が形成されている。これらスリット34は、C型バネ19の直径方向で開口部33と反対側に位置する図示しない連結部のみを残してC型バネ19の周方向のほぼ全周にわたって開口され、C型バネ19をその長手方向に三分割して、それぞれ単独で変形可能な3つの領域19a、19b、19cに画成している。

開口部33の長手方向4箇所には、開口部33を拡張した開口部材挿入口35が形成されている。各開口部材挿入口35は、図5に示すように、外側から開口部材36を挿入して、ベース16と押さえ蓋18との間に作用する光ファイバ11、13のクランプ力を解除するためのものである。開口部材挿入口35は、C型バネ19のスリット34で画成された第1から第3の三つの領域19a、19b、19cに分散配置され、長手方向両端部に位置する第1、第3の領域19a、19cにそれぞれ1カ所、中央部に位置するの第2の領域19bに2カ所形成されている。

C型バネ19は、ベリリウム銅等の材料で形成されている。ベリリウム銅の場合、目的形状に成形後時効硬化処理を行ったものや、熱処理後フッ素樹脂等でコーティングしたもの等であってもよい。
C型バネ19の、内装したベース16および押さえ蓋18を互いに圧接する方向に押圧する押圧力は、C型バネ19の材質および形状によって設定される。
すなわち、例えば、図6に示すように、概略U字状の薄板バネSの場合、両端間に作用する荷重をP、湾曲半径をR、バネの板厚をt、バネの長さをbとすると、両端間のたわみδは数式(1)によって示される。

ここで、C型バネ19の材質として、例えばJIS C1720H/2のバネ材を用いた場合、耐力(最大曲げ応力)σ≧90kg/mm2、曲げ弾性係数E=1200kg/mm2である。また、C型バネ19の寸法を、内径d=4.5mm、板厚t=0.23mm、軸方向長さb=9mmとした場合、C型バネ19の直径方向に作用する荷重がP=3.02kg(但し、最大値@b=9mm)、たわみがδ=0.573mm(最大値)となる。

各単心光ファイバ心線11は、ナイロン等で樹脂被覆されることにより250μm以上(好ましくは0.6mm)の径寸法に形成され、コード補強が不要な強度を有している。これら単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12は、図3および図4に示すように、V溝21の長手方向中央部まで挿入して位置決め調心した状態で、ベース16および単心線クランプ板27とに接着剤31で一体的に接着されている。また、各単心光ファイバ心線11は、単心線収納溝24、29の内部に設置した図示しない位置決め手段によって、裸ファイバ12の先端位置がベース上面17の長手方向で揃えられている。
接着剤31は、裸ファイバ12の先端には付着されない。また、接着剤31の接着力は、主にベース16と単心線クランプ板27と単心光ファイバ心線11の被覆部分23との間に作用する引張力等に対する支持力として作用する。
ここで、V溝21は、単心光ファイバ心線11を同一平面上に配列して光ファイバテープ13の各裸ファイバ14とそれぞれ突き合わせ接続可能に調心位置決めする配列調心機構として機能する。

光ファイバテープ13は、4本の裸ファイバ14を一定ピッチで並列して被覆材で固定したテープ心線である。光ファイバテープ13は、単心光ファイバ心線11と突き合わせ接続する端部の被覆部分25を除去して露出させた裸ファイバ14をV溝21に挿入し、該V溝21の中央部においてそれぞれの裸ファイバ14を各単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12の先端に突き合わせるようになっている。
なお、各単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12は、V溝21によって、光ファイバテープ13における裸ファイバ14の並列ピッチと等しいピッチで配列される。

以下、本発明の多心単心変換用光ファイバ10の作用および効果を説明する。
多心単心変換用光ファイバ10は、光ファイバ接続器15の挿入端部(図1から図3中右側)から光ファイバテープ13をテープ心線収納溝26、30に挿入するだけで、複数本の単心光ファイバ心線11に変換することができるようになっている。

すなわち、テープ心線収納溝26、30に挿入した光ファイバテープ13は、予め端部に露出させておいた裸ファイバ14が導入溝17bを介してV溝21に導かれて、調心ピース20の中央部においてそれぞれ単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12と突き合わせ接続される。この時、光ファイバテープ13の裸ファイバ14は、互いの先端位置を揃えておく。こうすることにより、光ファイバテープ13をテープ心線収納溝26、30からその奥側に押し込むだけで、すべての裸ファイバ14が単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12と同時に突き合わされ、しかも、突き合わせ時に裸ファイバ14間での突き合わせ力のばらつきを防止することができる。
光ファイバテープ13の被覆部分25は、テープ心線収納溝26、30内に収納されて、ベース16と押さえ蓋18との間にクランプされた時に、光ファイバテープ13に作用する引張力等に対する十分な引き留め力を発揮するようになっている。

光ファイバテープ13のテープ心線収納溝26、30への挿入時には、図5に示すように、挿入端部側にある第3の領域19cと、第2の領域19bの第3の領域19c側とにある開口部材挿入口35に開口部材36を挿入してC型バネ19によるクランプ力を予め解除しておく。この時、ベース16とテープクランプ板28との間のクランプ力が解除されてテープ心線収納溝26、30への光ファイバテープ13の挿入が可能となるが、ベース16と単心線クランプ板27との間は接着剤31によって固定状態が維持される。

光ファイバテープ13と単心光ファイバ心線11との突き合わせ接続が完了したら、開口部材36を引き抜く。こうすることにより、C型バネ19によるクランプ力が付与されて、ベース16とテープクランプ板28との間に光ファイバテープ13がクランプされる。この時、単心光ファイバ心線11と光ファイバテープ13の双方の裸ファイバ12、14の突き合わせ部分もベース16とテープクランプ板28とによってクランプされるので、突き合わせ状態が安定に保持される。
また、C型バネ19のクランプ力を再度解除することにより、クランプした光ファイバテープ13が光ファイバ接続器15から引き抜き可能になるので、接続切替を簡便に行うことができる。

多心単心変換用光ファイバ10を組み立てるには、先端に露出させておいた裸ファイバ12をV溝21に位置決めして各単心光ファイバ心線11をベース16と押さえ蓋18との間に挟み込み、接着剤注入孔32を介して接着剤31を注入した後、一体化したベース16および押さえ蓋18をC型バネ19に内挿して接着剤31を固化させるだけでよい。
そして、予め組み立てておいた多心単心変換用光ファイバ10を現場に搬入して、テープ心線収納溝26、30から光ファイバテープ13の裸ファイバ14を露出させた端部を光ファイバ接続器15内に挿入するだけで、光ファイバテープ13と単心光ファイバ心線11とを一括して光接続することができる。したがって、多心単心変換用光ファイバ10は、現場において容易かつ高精度に光ファイバテープ13と単心光ファイバ心線11とを光接続することができる。

なお、光ファイバ接続器15のクランプ力が十分であれば、単心光ファイバ心線11の接着固定を省略することもできる。また、単心光ファイバ心線11の図示しない反対側の端部(光ファイバ接続器15から放射状に延びる端部)は、単心用MTコネクタで他の単心光ファイバと接続可能に成端してもよい。

したがって、本発明の多心単心変換用光ファイバ10によれば、屋外でも組み立てや、単心光ファイバ心線11と光ファイバテープ13との光接続作業を容易に行うことができ、しかも、光ファイバ接続器15に光ファイバテープ13を挿入するだけで光ファイバテープ13を単心光ファイバ心線11と簡単に接続することができるので、作業現場での光ファイバテープ13の単心変換を簡便に行うことができる。その結果、例えば、架空光ファイバケーブルのクロージャ等での高所作業においても、高い作業能率を確保することができる。また、突き合わせ接続した光ファイバテープ13と単心光ファイバ心線11とを光ファイバ接続器15でクランプする構造なので、従来のMTコネクタで成端する場合に比べて部品点数が少なくて済み、組み立ての工数を少なくでき、しかも裸ファイバ12、14の調心精度が簡単に得られるとともに、コストを低減することができる。

さらに、前記多心単心変換用光ファイバ10では、並行に複数配列されたV溝21を利用して複数本の光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12を先端位置を揃えて固定したので、光ファイバテープ13をV溝21に押し込むだけで光ファイバテープ13の全ての裸ファイバ14を一括して単心光ファイバ心線11の裸ファイバ12と光接続でき、光ファイバテープ13の単心変換の作業性が向上する。

本発明では、光ファイバ接続器15に複数本の単心光ファイバ心線11を固定するようにしたので、従来の光ファイバテープから分岐した光ファイバ心線に比して太径の光ファイバ心線を使用することが可能となり、250μm以上の径の単心光ファイバ心線11を使用することによりコード化を不要としたので、多心単心変換用光ファイバ10の組み立て工数を一層減少することができる。
また、単心光ファイバ心線11は、径が250μmの場合には、光ファイバテープ13から導出した心線部と径寸法が等しいので、V溝21等の形成精度を緩和することができ、ベース16や調心ピース20の形成が容易になる。

なお、多心光ファイバとしては、光ファイバテープ以外であってもよい。
調心機構としては、マイクロキャピラリーが設置されたV溝またはV溝以外の位置決め溝や、精密ロッド、精密ボールを用いた調心構造の適用も可能である。また、調心機構と配列調心機構とは、光ファイバ接続器内で多心光ファイバと単心光ファイバとを突き合わせ接続可能であれば、互いに分離して設置してもよい。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバによれば、ベースと押さえ蓋との間に単心光ファイバを調心位置決めして集合固定するだけで光ファイバ接続器を容易に組み立てることができ、しかも、光ファイバ接続器に多心光ファイバを挿入するだけで多心光ファイバと単心光ファイバとを簡単に接続することができるので、多心光ファイバの単心変換を場所を問わず簡便に行うことができる。また、突き合わせ接続した多心光ファイバと単心光ファイバとを光ファイバ接続器でクランプする構造なので、部品点数が少なくて済み、組み立ての工数を少なくできるとともに、コストを低減することができるといった優れた効果を奏する。

請求項7の光ファイバ接続器付きの多心単心変換用光ファイバでは、多心光ファイバが複数本の光ファイバを同一平面上に配列してなり、光ファイバ接続器のベースと押さえ蓋との間に、複数本の単心光ファイバを同一平面上に配列して多心光ファイバの各光ファイバと突き合わせ接続可能に調心位置決めする配列調心機構を具備し、該配列調心機構で調心位置決めした各単心光ファイバの先端位置を揃えて固定したことにより、各単心光ファイバと多心光ファイバの光ファイバとを一括して光接続でき、多心光ファイバの単心変換の作業性が向上するといった優れた効果を奏する。
