BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to design the center of gravity position to the most preferable position in a metal wood club head.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The metal wood club heads manufactured in recent years are the ones made by casting such as the lost wax manufacturing method, and the whole head is divided into 2 to 4, and the outer shell members constituting each are formed by pressing or forging A member made by joining these members by welding or the like to form a metal wood club head is known.
[0003]
Such a metal wood club head has no specific gravity difference for each part such as the crown part, face part, back part, side part, etc. It depended on how to design the wall thickness.
However, in casting, there is a limit to the difference in extreme wall thickness change for each part due to the problem of castability (running water). In forging, it was very difficult to control the fine wall thickness.
[0004]
Note that the optimum center of gravity position is preferably a deeper center of gravity depth (that is, the center of gravity position is far from the face surface), and a lower center of gravity position (closer to the sole surface) is better.
This is because the sweet spot is wider when the depth of the center of gravity is deeper, and the lower the center of gravity is, the closer the sweet spot and the hitting point of the ball are, and the easier the ball is to rise.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As a method of designing the depth of the center of gravity deeply, it is conceivable to attach a member having a different specific gravity, which has been adopted in the era of the conventional Persimmon wood club head, as a back metal (back weight) to the rearmost part of the head.
However, just like the era of Persimmon head, simply screwing the back metal member to the metal wood club head body is a metal-to-metal joint, so it can not withstand the impact when the ball hits the head, There is a problem that a gap or a gap is generated between the back metal member and the wood club head main body.
[0006]
Therefore, the present invention reliably performs the fitting of the back metal member and the wood club head main body with a simple method, and when completed as a wood club head, the depth of the center of gravity becomes deep, and the metal wood club head with a wide sweet spot. Is to be able to provide.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when attaching a back metal member having a specific gravity heavier than that of the wood club head main body to the back portion of the hollow metal wood club head, a protrusion is provided on the joint surface on the wood club head main body side. A first concave portion that fits into the protrusion and a second concave portion on both sides of the first concave portion, and the wood club head main body and the back metal member are provided on the joint surface of the back metal member. A metal wood club head in which the back metal member is fixed to the wood club head main body with screws from the back metal member to the wood club head main body after being fitted.
[0008]
A second aspect of the invention is the metal wood club head according to the first aspect of the invention, wherein the protrusion on the joint surface on the wood club head main body side has a shape other than a true circle.
[0009]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the invention according to any one of the first to second aspects, the protrusion peripheral edge of the joint surface on the wood club head main body side is a groove that is one step lower than the flat surface constituting the joint surface. The metal wood club head.
[0010]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the invention according to any one of the first to third aspects, the sole member of the wood club head main body is made of a material having a specific gravity greater than the specific gravity of the wood club head main body excluding the sole member. A metal wood club head constructed.
[0011]
The invention according to claim 5 is the invention according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the back weight member is a copper alloy, nickel alloy, cobalt alloy, stainless steel, tungsten alloy or the like, and the sole member is a cobalt alloy. A metal wood club head made of copper alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, tungsten alloy or the like.
[0012]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view in which a back metal member 2 is fitted to a hollow metal wood club head main body 1 and cut along a plane substantially parallel to the sole surface.
2A is a view of the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1 as seen from the back side, and FIG. 2B is a cross-sectional view of the wood club head main body 1. FIG.
3A is a view of the back metal member 2 viewed from the back side, FIG. 3B is a cross-sectional view of the back metal member 2, and FIG. It is the figure which looked at from the joint surface 32 side.
[0013]
The back metal member 2 is made of a material having a specific gravity greater than that of the wood club head main body 1. Specifically, a copper alloy, nickel alloy, cobalt alloy, stainless steel, tungsten alloy, or the like is used.
The material of the wood club head main body 1 is titanium, titanium alloy, aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, stainless steel or the like.
[0014]
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the protrusion 4 is provided on the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1.
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 1 or FIG. 3, a recess 5 that fits into the protrusion 4 is provided on the joint surface 32 of the back metal member 2.
After the wood club head main body 1 and the back metal member 2 are fitted, screws (not shown) from the back metal member 2 to the wood club head main body 1 are transferred from the back metal member 2 to the wood club head main body 1. The back metal member 2 is fixed to the wood club head main body 1 through the through holes 62 to 61.
If the inserted screw head is cut along the outer periphery of the backweight member 2, the appearance of the screw will be improved.
[0015]
If the protrusion 4 of the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1 has a shape other than a circle, after the back metal member 2 is fitted to the wood club head main body 1, when the golf club is used, an impact is generated. The back metal member 2 is not rotated.
The protrusion 4 can be oval, square, rectangular, rhombus or the like.
In FIG. 2, the shape is substantially rectangular. However, when such a linear shape is used, if the fitting cannot be performed because the shape does not match the shape of the concave portion 5 of the back metal member 2, it is relatively It can be easily fitted.
[0016]
As shown in FIG. 2, the periphery of the protrusion 4 of the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1 is set as a groove 7 that is one step lower than the flat surface constituting the joint surface 31.
Even if the angle formed between the side surface of the protrusion 4 and the bonding surface 31 is designed to be 90 °, in an actual product, this portion is often gently rounded. Therefore, when the back metal member 2 is fitted to the protrusion 4 of the wood club head body 1, the protrusion 4 does not fully fit into the recess 5 of the back metal member 2, and the joining surface 32 of the back metal member 2 is made of wood. The club head body 1 may be in a state where it floats from the joint surface 31.
[0017]
As shown in FIG. 2, if the periphery of the protrusion 4 of the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1 is a groove that is one step lower than the plane constituting the joint surface 31, the angle formed between the side surface of the protrusion 4 and the joint surface 31. Since the joint surface 31 of the wood club head main body 1 and the joint surface 32 of the back metal member 2 fit closely, the angle formed between the side surface of the protrusion 4 and the joint surface 31 is accurately processed to 90 °. There is no need to do it.
[0018]
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, after the wood club head main body 1 and the back metal member 2 are fitted, the back metal member 2 is passed through the screws from the back metal member 2 to the wood club head main body 1. Secure to the body 1.
1 to 3, holes 62 and 61 are opened from the center of the back metal member 2 to the center of the protrusion 4 of the wood club head main body 1 so that a single screw is passed through. The position and number are not limited to this embodiment.
[0019]
For example, holes may be formed in two places (including the back metal member 2 corresponding thereto) on the left and right on the protrusion 4, or holes may be formed in two places by removing the protrusion 4. Of course, two or more holes may be formed.
By inserting a screw into the hole, the head of the screw after the back metal member 2 is fixed to the wood club head main body 1 can be cut along the outer periphery of the back weight member 2 to improve the appearance.
[0020]
By configuring as described above, a golf club having a deep center of gravity can be provided.
Furthermore, if the sole member is made of a material having a specific gravity greater than the specific gravity of the wood club head main body excluding the sole member, the position of the center of gravity is lowered, the sweet spot and the hit point of the ball approach, and the ball is easily raised Therefore, it is possible to provide a golf club preferable for the player.
As the sole member having a large specific gravity, a cobalt alloy, a copper alloy, a nickel alloy, stainless steel, a tungsten alloy, or the like can be used.
[0021]
【The invention's effect】
Since the present invention is configured as described above, the back metal member 2 can be easily and firmly fixed to the wood club head main body 1 regardless of the metal-to-metal connection.
Accordingly, there is no possibility that the back metal member 2 and the wood club head main body 1 are not displaced or cleaved without being able to endure the impact at the time of the collision between the ball and the head.
[0022]
In particular, if the protruding portion 4 of the joint surface 31 on the wood club head main body 1 side is formed in a shape other than a true circle, it is possible to more surely prevent a deviation or a gap between the back metal member 2 and the wood club head main body 1. Can do.
Further, if the peripheral edge of the protrusion 4 of the joint surface 31 on the wood club head main body 1 side is set as a groove 7 that is one step lower than the plane constituting the joint surface 31, the joint surface 32 of the back metal member 2 and the wood club head main body 1 are provided. The joint surface 31 can be tightly joined.
[0023]
Since the back metal member 2 is made of a material having a high specific gravity such as a copper alloy, a nickel alloy, a cobalt alloy, stainless steel, or a tungsten alloy, the depth of the center of gravity is deep and a metal golf club head with a wide sweet spot is obtained.
Furthermore, if the sole member is made of a cobalt alloy, copper alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, tungsten alloy material or the like having a specific gravity greater than the specific gravity of the wood club head body excluding the sole member, the center of gravity is lowered, and the sweet spot and ball A golf club that is more favorable to the player can be provided.
