複写機、プリンタ等の電子写真式画像形成装置等においては、感光体ドラムの外周面に転写ローラをニップさせることにより形成した転写ニップ部から送り出した転写紙を定着ユニットの入口へ導いて、ユニット内部の定着ローラにより未定着トナー像を紙面に定着させている。転写ニップ部から送り出された転写紙の上面には未定着トナー画像があり、このトナー画像に乱れが形成されることを防止する為に、従来は定着ユニットを転写ニップ部の横方向に配置して転写紙を横方向に搬送する構成を採用することがほとんどであったが、機器の省スペース化が求められる昨今においては未定着トナー画像を保持した転写紙の搬送に関しても上方に向けて搬送する縦型搬送が必要になり、省スペース化を実現している。しかし、未定着トナー画像を保持した転写紙を垂直方向に縦型搬送する場合には、転写紙のコシを利用できなくなる為に、転写紙先端にカール形状が存在すると、定着ユニットに達する前に転写紙の自重により倒れが発生し搬送不可能となることがある。この転写紙の倒れを防止するために、転写ニップ部からの紙送出し方向を垂直方向より傾けた方向に設定すると共に、送出し方向の延長上に定着ユニットの入口を配置することも行われている。この転写ニップ部からの紙の排出角度に対して、搬送ガイド板の角度を垂直方向へ立たせるようにした場合には、省スペース化には繋がるものの、上述のように転写紙のコシを利用できなくなって紙の倒れが発生しやすくなる。逆に、紙の倒れ防止のために搬送ガイド板を斜めに大きく傾けてしまっては省スペース化に繋がらず、縦型搬送のメリットが低減してしまう。また、搬送中における転写紙の倒れ防止のために未定着画像面側にガイド部材を設置すると、ガイド部材との接触により画像品質に悪影響を及ぼす。また、上記した紙搬送時の倒れ防止に吸引ファンを用いるなどの方法もあるが、部品点数が増えてしまいコストアップとなり、問題である。

以下、本発明を図面に示した形態例により詳細に説明する。
