いわゆるピンク電話回線と呼ばれている料金徴収式回線を使用する加入者が、キャプテンサービス、またはパソコン通信サービス等の提供を受ける場合、一般の電話回線を引き込んでキャプテン端末機又は、パソコン通信用モデム等(以下、これらをデータ端末と呼ぶ)接続するのが望ましいが、回線の重複による経済的負担を軽減するために、データ端末を料金徴収式回線に、いわゆるピンク電話機と呼ばれている料金徴収式電話機と並列に、接続(ブランチ)することが行われていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、料金徴収式回線では、通信が所定の時間を越えると所定の周期で料金徴収信号(一般的には硬貨収納信号とか課金信号と呼ばれる)が到来する。この料金徴収信号の周期は、そのときどきの電話料金体系で変化する。例えば、市内通話の場合、従来3分周期であったものが現在では1分周期に変わっている。また、その周期は距離に応じても短くなって行く。
