BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a resource management control method and apparatus in a system configured such that a plurality of users can access resources such as files registered in a server, such a client server system, and a recording medium. Used as a supplementary function for management server resource management.
[0002]
In a client-server system, operations such that files such as documents or programs are registered in a server and managed centrally, and these files can be freely viewed and updated by a client are often performed.
[0003]
In such a client-server system, various access such as file registration, browsing, or updating to the server can be freely performed by the user. Therefore, these files are efficiently managed to effectively use the magnetic disk and perform performance. There is a need to improve.
[0004]
[Prior art]
In the client server system, various resources such as files registered in the server are conventionally managed by an operation manager of the server.
[0005]
For example, when a file registered in the server by the user becomes unnecessary, the operation manager deletes the file from the magnetic disk (or DASD). At that time, in order to determine whether or not the file can be deleted, the operation administrator confirms (announces) with the standard manager, the subsystem administrator, or the user who registered the file. ) Is necessary.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Therefore, the operation manager needs a lot of time and labor to determine whether the file can be deleted, and this work is a heavy burden on the operation manager.
[0007]
Therefore, the work for deleting unnecessary files is delayed, and in fact, the operations manager does the work for deleting unnecessary files only when the magnetic disk is almost full. It is a fact.
[0008]
For this reason, unnecessary files are not deleted at an appropriate and fast timing, and unnecessary resources tend to remain on the magnetic disk, preventing effective use of the magnetic disk and reducing the performance of the magnetic disk.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to automatically delete unnecessary resources at an appropriate fast timing and to improve the performance by effectively using a magnetic disk. .

[0034]
Referring to FIG. 3, the user operates the client 4 after inputting the code UID, and designates a resource name NRS to be registered using a resource registration GUI displayed on a screen (not shown) (# 11, 12). In this case, the resource name NRS may be input directly from a keyboard or the like, and the resource name NRS can be selected from a list displayed on the screen. The resource to be registered may be stored in the memory of the client 4 or the magnetic disk device, or may be stored in a recording medium such as a CD-ROM or a floppy disk.
[0035]
Further, the maximum access number NMA is input for the specified resource name NRS. The maximum access number NMA is the number of times the other user wants to view the resource to be registered. When the maximum access number NMA is not input, “1” is automatically set in the server 3.
[0036]
Thereafter, when the registration process is executed, the specified resource name NRS and the set maximum access number NMA are transmitted to the server 3. At the same time, the resource corresponding to the resource name NRS is transferred from the client 4 to the server 3 (# 13).
