【発明が属する技術分野】
本発明は、断面が矩形で直線的に延びる基材と、この基材の外面に貼着される表面化粧材とを備えた建材に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
上記建材の従来の技術には図６，７で示されるものがある。この図により、上記従来の技術を説明する。

図６，７において、符号1は建築物１で、この建築物１の手摺に用いられる建材２は次のように構成されている。

上記建材２は、ある一方向（水平方向）に直線的に延びて、その長手方向の各部断面が同形同大の矩形とされる木製の基材３を備えている。この基材３は、その長手方向の中途部を構成する基材本体４と、上記基材３の端部を構成して上記基材本体４の端部に一体成形される基材端部５とを備えている。上記基材３は水平方向に延び、かつ、その各部断面での上面６、下面７も水平方向に延びると共に各側面８は鉛直方向に延び、つまり、この基材３は水平姿勢とされている。上記基材３を上記したように水平姿勢にしてこの基材３を見たとき、その基材端部５における上面６と端面１０とでなす角部は円弧凸面１１とされている。

上記建材２は、上記基材３の各外面に全体的に接着材で貼着される薄板形状で屈曲可能な樹脂製の表面化粧材１３を備え、この表面化粧材１３により、上記建材２の見栄えの向上が図られている。上記基材３を水平姿勢にしてこの基材３と表面化粧材１３とを見たとき、上記表面化粧材１３は、上記基材３の上面６に貼着される上面化粧材１４と、下面７に貼着される下面化粧材１５と、各側面８にそれぞれ貼着される側面化粧材１６とを備え、これら上面化粧材１４、下面化粧材１５、および側面化粧材１６は互いに個別に成形されている。

上記建材２を成形する場合には、まず、上記基材３の上面６と下面７にそれぞれ上面化粧材１４と下面化粧材１５とを貼着して、組み合せ体（３，１４，１５）を成形する。次に、この組み合せ体（３，１４，１５）の各側面を機械加工して平坦にし、上記基材３の側面８と、この基材３の幅方向における上記上面化粧材１４と下面化粧材１５の各端面とを互いに面一にさせる。次に、上記組み合せ体（３，１４，１５）の各側面にそれぞれ側面化粧材１６を貼着させれば、建材２が成形される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、上記従来の技術では、次のような問題点がある。

即ち、上記建材２では、側面化粧材１６の上端部の端面が全体的に外部に露出して、これが外観上容易に見えるため、この建材２の表面は薄板による化粧材の貼着構造であるということが容易に判断されることとなり、これは、建材２の見栄えを低下させるものであって、好ましくない。また、上記したように側面化粧材１６の上端部の端面が全体的に外部に露出するため、上記建材２の外面を手ざわりしたとき、上記側面化粧材１６の端面により、円滑な手ざわり感が低下させられるという問題点もある。

そこで、上記上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とを一体成形して、この側面化粧材１６の上端部の端面が見えないようにすることが考えられる。ここで、上記上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とは一般に平坦な化粧材の素材から成形されるものである。そして、上記基材本体４の外面に貼着される上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とを互いに一体成形した場合には、これら上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とは単に直角に屈曲した形状であり、このため、互いに一体成形される上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とを上記平坦な素材から成形することは容易にできる。

しかし、上記基材端部５の上面６は円弧凸面１１とされていて、この基材端部５の外面に貼着される上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とを互いに一体成形した場合には、これら上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とは三次元的な立体形状なる。このため、これら上面化粧材１４と側面化粧材１６とを上記平坦な素材から成形しようとすると、上記側面化粧材１６にしわが発生することから、このしわを除去する分の切り欠きを上記側面化粧材１６に成形する必要が生じるが、このようにすると、これら切り欠きが外観上容易に見えることとなり、これも、建材２の見栄えを低下させ、また、手ざわり感を低下させることとなって、好ましくない。

本発明は、上記のような事情に注目してなされたもので、断面が矩形で直線的に延びる基材と、この基材の外面に貼着される表面化粧材とを備えた建材において、この建材の見栄えや手ざわり感を向上させることを課題とする。
