本発明は、質問器と該質問器からの電波を受信して記憶情報を送信するタグとを備えてなる識別装置及び該識別装置を用いたキャッシュレジスター装置に関するものである。

図4は従来の識別装置の一例を示す模式図である。図4において、この識別装置は、大きくは質問器101と、タグ(応答器)102とで構成されている。

さらに詳述すると、質問器101はタグ102内に配設されている応答回路105の内部に記憶されている情報(以下、これを「記憶情報」と言う)を引き出すためのもので、送信機及びタグ102からの応答信号を受信するための受信機を備えている。

一方、タグ102は、包装材基板103上に、質問器101からの電波を受信する受信アンテナ104と、記憶情報を記憶しているとともに質問器101からの電波を復調・解析し、記憶情報で変調した電波信号(以下、これを「応答電波」と言う)を出力する応答回路105と、タグ102から質問器101に対して応答電波を送信するための送信アンテナ106等を配置し、この上を包装材カバー107で全体に覆ってシールされた構造になっている。

次に、この識別装置の動作を説明する。まず、質問器101からタグ102に対して質問に用いる電波が発せられると、受信アンテナ104はこの電波を受信し、応答回路105に伝達する。応答回路105は質問器101からの電波を復調・解析して応答電波を送信アンテナ106に出力し、送信アンテナ106より応答電波が送出される。また、これが質問器101側で受けられ、その受けられた応答電波を受信・復調・解析してタグ102内部の記憶情報を引き出す。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の識別装置では、質問器101とタグ102との間の送受信状態、すなわち質問器101とタグ102との間の信号のやりとりが正常に行われているか否かは視覚では判断できず、質問器101がタグ102からの応答信号を検知することによって、質問器101側でのみ可能であった。
したがって、複数のタグ102がかたまって存在する場合、タグ102を見ただけでは、どのタグ102が質問器101と電波の送受信が可能で、どのタグ102が可能でないかは分からなかった。このため、信頼性の面で問題があった。

本発明は、上記問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、その目的は質問器に対するタグの応答状態を簡単に認識できるようにし、信頼性を向上させることができる識別装置及び該識別装置を用いたキャッシュレジスターシステムを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は上記目的を達成するために、その識別装置は次の技術手段を講じたことを特徴とする。すなわち、質問器と、該質問器からの電波を受信して記憶情報を送信する複数のタグとを備えた識別装置において、前記タグは前記質問器からの電波を受信すると外部に報知する報知手段を備えており、前記報知手段は、該報知手段の状態により、前記タグが前記質問器に対して受信可能な状態となっているか否かを認識可能に構成されている。これによれば、タグが質問器に対して受信可能な状態となっているか否かを報知手段の状態を知ることによって簡単に認識することができ、この認識によって適切な処理を素早くとることが可能になる。

また、本発明は上記目的を達成するために、そのキャッシュレジスターシステムは次の技術手段を講じたことを特徴とする。すなわち、キャッシュレジスター側に設けた質問器からの電波を商品毎に取り付けられているタグが受信すると、該タグより該タグに記憶されている商品情報を前記キャッシュレジスター側に送信し、前記キャッシュレジスター側で商品情報と識別してレジの精算を行うキャッシュレジスターシステムにおいて、前記タグは前記質問器からの電波を受信すると外部に報知する報知手段を備えており、前記報知手段は、該報知手段の状態により、前記タグが前記質問器に対して受信可能な状態となっているか否かを認識可能に構成されている。これによれば、タグが質問器に対して受信可能な状態となっているか否かを報知手段の状態を知ることによって簡単に認識することができ、この認識によって適切な処置を素早くとることが可能になるので、レジでの精算時における信頼性が向上する。

【発明の実施の形態】
図1は本発明の一形態例として示す識別装置の概略構成図である。図1において、この識別装置は、大きくは質問器1と、タグ(応答器)2とで構成されている。

さらに詳述すると、質問器1はタグ2内に配設されている集積回路化されている応答回路5の内部に記憶されている情報(以下、これを「記憶情報」と言う)を引き出すためのもので、送信機及びタグ2からの応答信号を受信するための受信機を備えている。

一方、タグ2は、包装材基板3上に、質問器1からの電波を受信する受信アンテナ4と、記憶情報を記憶しているとともに質問器1からの電波を復調・解析し、記憶情報で変調した電波信号(以下、これを「応答電波」と言う)を出力する上記応答回路5と、タグ2から質問器1に対して応答電波を送信するための送信アンテナ6と、電源回路7(図2参照)と、タグ2の応答状態を外部に視覚的に表示する表示手段としての発光素子(LED)8等を配置し、この上を包装材カバー9で全体に覆ってシールされた構造になっている。

図2は図1に示した識別装置における内部構成要素間の電気接続状態を示す回路である。なお、図2において図1と同一符号を付したのは図1と同一のものを示している。そして、図2において、符号12は発光素子8の発光を制御する発光素子制御手段であり、電源回路7は受信アンテナ4で受信された質問器1からの質問信号を整流してタグ(応答器)2の電源となる直流電圧を得る。

次に、この識別装置の動作を説明する。まず、質問器1からの質問信号を受信アンテナ4が受信すると、電源回路7では質問信号を整流してタグ(応答器)2の電源としての直流電圧を得る。すると、この直流電圧で、発光素子制御手段12は発光素子8を点灯させる。したがって、発光素子8が点灯されたことを外部より視認することにより、タグ2が質問器1からの質問信号を受信していることが一目でわかる。また、発光素子8が点灯していない場合には、質問器1からの質問信号を受けることができる位置に移動させたり、あるいは別途処理する等の処置がとられる。
一方、応答回路5は、電源回路7より直流電圧を得て、送信アンテナ6から質問器1に応答電波を送信する。質問器1側では、この応答電波を受けることによってタグ2の識別をすることができる。

図3は本発明の識別装置を用いたキャッシュレジスターシステムの一形態例を示すものである。図3において図1及び図2と同一符号を付したものは図1及び図2と同一のものを示している。
図3において、符号21はキャッシュレジスターである。22は商品データベースであり、この商品データベース22には商品識別情報、商品名、金額が商品毎に記憶されている。23はかご、24はかご23を載せる台である。25はタグ2が記憶している情報を引き出すのに質問器1より送発信された質問電波、26はかご23内に並べて複数(本例では9個)配置された商品である。この商品26には、個々にタグ2が取り付けらており、各タグ2には内蔵されている応答回路5内にタグ固有の商品情報が記憶されている。また、8(a)は発光している(ON)状態の発光素子を、8(b)は発光していない(OFF)状態の発光素子を示している。なお、図3中では、発光している発光素子8は梨地模様を入れて示し、発光していない発光素子8は白抜きの状態で示している。

次に、このキャッシュレジスターシステムの動作を説明する。まず、個々にタグ2を取り付けている商品26が複数(この場合は9個)入ったかご23を台24の上に載せると、かご23内のタグ2は質問器1より発せられている質問電波25を受信する。このとき、質問電波25が届いているタグ2は電源回路7が直流電圧を得て発光素子8を点灯させるが、届いていないタグ2は電源回路7に電圧が発生しないことになって発光素子8は点灯しない。よって、この発光素子8の点灯状態を識別することにより質問電波25を正常に受信しているか否かを外部から一目で見分けることができる。そして、この表示の状態を認識することにより、発光素子8が質問電波を受けて発光できる位置に移動させる等、必要な処置を素早くとることができる。

一方、質問電波25が届いたタグ2は、発光素子8を点灯させる以外に、応答回路5及び送信アンテナ6を介して、商品識別情報を応答電波として質問器1に送信する。質問器1は、この応答電波を受信し、キャッシュレジスター21に伝達する。キャッシュレジスター21はタグ2より取り出した商品識別情報をキーとして、その商品名と金額を商品データベース22より取り出す。この操作を応答電波を受信できる全てのタグ2に対して行い、レジの計算を行う。また、全ての商品26あるいはタグ2をもれなく計算するには、全ての商品26あるいはタグ2の発光素子8が点灯するようにかご23の位置を調整したり、かご23の中の商品26の位置を調整する。また、どうしても点灯しないようなタグ2は、別途処理される。
したがって、全てのタグの発光素子8が点灯するようにさせて、あるいは点灯しないタグ2は別途処理するようにしてレジを行うことにより、精算漏れの商品等を無くすことができ、信頼性の向上が図れる。

なお、本発明は上記実施例の構造に限られることなく、種々な変更が可能であり、例えば変形例として次のようなことが考えられる。
(1)上記形態例では、タグ2の電源として質問信号を整流して得られる直流電圧を利用した回路構成を開示したが、電池を内蔵させて電源としても差し支えないものである。
(2)上記形態例では、記憶情報の送受は電波によって行っている構造を開示したが、これに限ることなく、例えば電磁誘導や赤外線を利用した方式を用いても差し支えないものである。
(3)上記形態例では、発光素子8をタグ2の内部に配設してなる構造を開示したが、外部に露出させて設けても差し支えないものである。
(4)上記形態例では、受信状態を示す手段として発光素子を用いた構造を開示したが、ユーザに識別される情報ならば、光のみならず、音とか、振動、色の変化、形状等、変化が認識できて、外部に報知することができるものであれば、これ以外の報知手段であっても差し支えないものである。
(5)上記形態例では、タグ2側に発光素子8を設けて表示する構造を開示したが、質問器1側に設けた構造にしても差し支えないものである。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したとおり、本発明によれば、報知手段の状態を知ることによってタグが質問器に対して受信可能な状態になっているか否かを簡単に認識することができるので、この識別によって常に適切な処置が可能になり、認識の信頼性が向上する。また、これをキャッシュレジスターシステムに適用した場合では、レジでの精算時における信頼性が向上する等の効果が期待できる。
