Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a seal structure for a fuel cell (for example, a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell, but not limited to a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell).
[0002]
[Prior art]
A solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell is configured by stacking one or more cells each including a membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) and a separator to form a module, and stacking the modules.
The MEA includes an electrolyte membrane made of an ion exchange membrane, an electrode (anode) made of a catalyst layer arranged on one surface of the electrolyte membrane, and an electrode (cathode) made of a catalyst layer arranged on the other surface of the electrolyte membrane. A diffusion layer is usually provided between the MEA and the separator. This diffusion layer is for improving the diffusion of the reaction gas to the catalyst layer, and constitutes the electrode in cooperation with the catalyst layer, so it may be considered as a part of the electrode. The separator is formed with a fuel gas channel for supplying fuel gas (hydrogen) to the anode and an oxidizing gas channel for supplying oxidizing gas (oxygen, usually air) to the cathode, and electrons between adjacent cells. This constitutes the passage.
A terminal (electrode plate), an insulator, and an end plate are arranged at both ends of the cell stack in the cell stacking direction, the cell stack is clamped in the cell stacking direction, and a fastening member extending in the cell stacking direction outside the cell stack (for example, A stack is formed by fixing with tension plates) and bolts.
In a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell, a reaction for converting hydrogen into hydrogen ions and electrons is performed on the anode side, the hydrogen ions move through the electrolyte membrane to the cathode side, and oxygen, hydrogen ions and electrons (adjacent to the cathode side). Generated from the anode of the MEA through the separator, or the electron generated at the anode of the cell at one end of the cell stack comes to the cathode of the cell at the other end of the cell stack through an external circuit). Reaction takes place.
Anode side: H 2 → 2H + + 2e −
Cathode side: 2H + + 2e − + (1/2) O 2 → H 2 O
In order to perform the above reaction, fuel gas and oxidizing gas are supplied to and discharged from the stack. In addition, since heat is generated by the Joule heat at the separator and the water generation reaction at the cathode, a flow path for refrigerant (usually cooling water) is formed between the separators for each cell or for each of a plurality of cells. The refrigerant is circulated there to cool the fuel cell. In order to prevent leakage and mixing of the fuel gas, oxidant gas, and refrigerant in the stack from the respective flow paths, a seal material is provided between the fuel cell components (separator, electrolyte membrane, etc.). The elements are sealed. The seal line of this seal material includes an inter-module gasket seal line and an inter-separator seal line sandwiching the MEA. The inter-separator seal line is a seal line made of a gasket or an adhesive seal material.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-102072 discloses these seal lines, in which different fluid flow paths are sealed with a single gasket or adhesive seal.
7 and 8 show a conventional seal line. FIG. 7 shows a conventional
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the conventional fuel cell seal structure, the different fluid flow paths are sealed with a single sealing material, so when the seal line is cut, the different fluids in the adjacent different fluid flow paths are mixed, When hydrogen and air are mixed, there is a concern about poor performance and ignition of the fuel cell, and when gas and cooling water are mixed, there is a concern about poor cooling due to gas flowing into the water channel and trapping of gas into the pump. The
An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell seal structure that can prevent mixing of different fluids even if a local malfunction such as a cut occurs in the seal line.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention for achieving the above object is as follows.
(1) A fuel cell seal structure in which an MEA is sandwiched between two separators to form a module, and the modules are stacked to form a stack.
The seal structure has a gasket seal line made of a gasket seal material provided between modules, and an adhesive seal line made of an adhesive seal material provided between two separators sandwiching the MEA of each module,
The gasket seal line made of the gasket seal material between the modules is different so that there are two gasket seal lines between different fluid flow paths of fuel gas and oxidizing gas, fuel gas and refrigerant, and oxidizing gas and refrigerant. The fluid gasket is doubled at the site between the fluid channels, and the two gasket seal lines at the sites between the different fluid channels are separated from each other and independent for each fluid channel,
The adhesive seal line composed of the adhesive seal material between the two separators sandwiching the MEA of each module, so that there are two adhesive seal lines between the different fluid flow paths of the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas, It is duplicated at the site between the different fluid flow paths, and the two adhesive seal lines at the site between the different fluid flow paths are separated from each other and independent for each fluid flow path,
A portion between the two gasket seal lines at the portion between the different fluid flow paths communicates with the outside of the stack, and a portion between the two adhesive seal lines at the portion between the different fluid flow paths communicates with the outside of the stack. The fuel cell seal structure.
(2) A fuel cell seal structure in which an MEA is sandwiched between two separators to form a module, and the modules are stacked to form a stack.
The fluid gasket is doubled at the site between the fluid channels, and the two gasket seal lines at the sites between the different fluid channels are separated from each other and independent for each fluid channel,
The adhesive seal line composed of the adhesive seal material between the two separators sandwiching the MEA of each module, so that there are two adhesive seal lines between the different fluid flow paths of the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas, It is duplicated at the site between the different fluid flow paths, and the two adhesive seal lines at the site between the different fluid flow paths are separated from each other and independent for each fluid flow path,
A seal structure for a fuel cell, wherein a seal line made independent for each of the various fluid flow paths by the duplexing is made of a material having corrosion resistance to the fluid with which each contacts .
[0005]
In the fuel cell seal structure of (1) above, since the seal line is duplicated between different fluid flow paths, even if leakage occurs due to permeation or breakage in one seal line, the leaked fluid passes between the seal lines. It is only discharged to the outside of the stack, and different fluids are not mixed. The fluid discharged outside the stack is safely processed by an external managed processing system.
In the fuel cell seal structure of (2) above, the seal material of each seal line is made of a material having corrosion resistance to the fluid in contact with the seal line, so that the corrosion resistance to different fluids can be improved. Conventionally, since two types of fluid are in contact with the seal material of one seal line, it has been difficult to select a material having corrosion resistance to the two types of fluid. However, in the present invention, the seal material is used as one type of fluid. However, it is easy to select a material having corrosion resistance .

In the case of a conventional single seal between different fluid flow paths, if the corrosion resistance to two fluids in contact with each other is different, it is difficult to satisfy them simultaneously. Since the material contacts only one type of fluid, it is easy to satisfy the corrosion resistance against the fluid in contact.

Next, the operation of the fuel cell seal structure of the present invention will be described.
In the fuel cell seal structure of the present invention, the seal lines 51 and / or 52 are duplicated between different fluid flow paths, so that even if leakage occurs due to permeation or breakage in one seal line, the leaked fluid remains between the seal lines. It is only discharged to the outside of the
[0020]
Conventionally, a single seal portion between different fluid flow paths can have corrosion resistance only with respect to one of the two fluids with which it contacts, but it has not been possible to increase corrosion resistance with respect to both fluids. . However, in the present invention, since the seal line is made redundant, the seal of each seal line comes into contact with only one type of fluid. Therefore, each seal line is made of a material having corrosion resistance to the fluid with which the seal line is in contact. Will be able to.

【The invention's effect】
According to the fuel cell seal structure of the first aspect, since the seal line is doubled between the different fluid flow paths, even if leakage occurs due to permeation or breakage in one seal line, mixing of different fluids can be prevented. it can.
According to the fuel cell seal structure of the second aspect, since the seal material of each seal line is made of a material having corrosion resistance to the fluid in contact with the seal line, the corrosion resistance against different fluids can be improved .
