本発明は縁かがり縫いミシンに於いてルーパに糸を通す為に或いは機構の点検等の為にルーパカバーを開放している状態及びメスの位置調節の為に或いは機構の点検等の為に布台を開放している状態の両状態のうち、少なくともいずれか一方の状態にある時にはミシンの運転操作部を操作してもミシンが運転不可能な状態にしておき、前述の種々の作業を安全に遂行できるようにすることを目的とする。
また、従来のこのために大掛かりな連動機構を備えたものに比べて、極めてコンパクトに形成することも特徴的な目的である。
