本発明は、画像形成装置であり、特に、電子写真方式等の画像形成装置において、複写した画像の乱れ、紙しわ等を防止し、記録材を加熱ロール(定着ロール)及び加圧ロールへ案内する記録材案内手段を有する定着装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、電子写真方式等の画像形成装置は、図7に示すように、感光体1、BCR2、光学系3、現像器4、記録材収納容器5、フィードロール6、記録材搬送ロール7、BTR8、加熱ロール9、加圧ロール10、加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12、記録材受けトレイ13、ロール14、再送通路15等を有している。そして、記録材pは、フィードロール6により記録材収納容器4から取り出され、記録材搬送ロール7、感光体1とBTR8、加熱ロール側案内部材11と加圧ロール側案内部材12、加熱ロール9と加圧ロール10、再送保管ロール14等を搬送され、記録材受けトレイ13に保管される。両面コピーするときは、再送通路15も使用される。

従来の画像形成装置においては、次のような問題が生じる恐れがあった。

実施例1の画像形成装置を説明する。本実施例の画像形成装置は、図7に示すように、感光体1、定着ロール2、光学系3、現像器4、記録材収納容器5、フィードロール6、記録材搬送ロール7、BTR8、加熱ロール9、加圧ロール10、加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12、記録材受けトレイ13、ロール14、再送通路15等を有している。そして、本実施例における加熱ロール側案内部材11は、従来のものとは相違しており、図1に示すように、中央部111が両端部112より記録材進入上流側に突出するように形成された記録材進入上流側の辺を有するように形成されている。図1(a)は、本実施例における加熱ロール9、加圧ロール10、加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12と記録材pの説明図であり、図1(b)及び図1(c)は、本実施例と従来例の加熱ロール側案内部材11の矢視D説明図である。図1(c)における斜線部113は、従来の加熱ロール側案内部材11と比べて欠落している部分である。突出量は、横方向300mmの記録材案内部材において、中央部111における縦方向の長さ(l)は18mmとし、端部112の縦方向の長さ(l)は13〜5mm程度とする。
本実施例の画像形成装置について、両面コピーの処理により説明する。まず、表面コピーとして、光学系3により作成された光像は、感光体1に照射され、現像器4により現像され、搬送された記録材pに転写される。記録材pは、加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12の間を通過して、加熱ロール9と加圧ロール10の間に挿入されて定着され、記録材受けトレイ13に供給される。次に、裏面コピーのため、記録材受けトレイ13に一時ロール14から排出されきらない状態で部分的に収納された記録材pは、再送通路15を経由し、再度、光学系3、感光体1等により、記録材p裏面に光像を転写する。記録材pは、再度加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12の間を通過して、加熱ロール9と加圧ロール10の間に挿入されて定着され、両面コピー処理が終了し、画像形成装置外に排出される。本実施例の画像形成装置に使用される加熱ロール側案内部材11は、中央部が両端部より記録材進入上流側に突出する記録材進入上流側の辺を有するように形成されている。これにより、感光体から加熱ロール及び加圧ロールに供給される際、記録材pの後端の端部の一方又は両方に生じやすい跳ね上がりが発生しても、加熱ロール側案内部材11は、中央部111が両端部112より記録材進入上流側に突出する記録材進入上流側の辺を形成しているため、この辺の中央部111が記録材の先端中央部分を案内し、そして、記録材pの後端両端部分に対応する加熱ロール側案内部材11の部分は存在していないため、記録材pに跳ね上がりが発生しても加熱ロール側案内部材11に接触することはなく、汚れや画像の乱れは発生しない。
なお、記録材進入上流側の辺における中央部111と端部112とを結ぶ部分の形状としては、記録材pが衝突しても無理なく案内できるように直線又は円弧等の曲線とするのが好ましく、また、左右対称でも、あるいは対称でなくても良い。

次に、実施例2の画像形成装置を説明する。本実施例の画像形成装置は、実施例1のものと同様であるが、加熱ロール側案内部材11が相違している。本実施例における加熱ロール側案内部材11は、図2に示すように、両端部112がガイド面に対して画像面から離れる方向に、例えば、断面が一定の曲率の曲面となるように形成されている記録材進入上流側の辺を有している。図2(a)は、加熱ロール9、加圧ロール10、加熱ロール側案内部材11、加圧ロール側案内部材12と記録材pの説明図であり、図2(b)は、加熱ロール側案内部材11の説明図である。図2(c)及び図2(d)は、図2(b)における中央部E及び端部Fでの断面説明図である。図2(b)における画像面から離れる量としては、横方向300mm、縦方向の長さ(l)は18mmの加熱ロール側案内部材において、最大で1.5mm以上とする。これにより、記録材pの先端の両端部分が加熱ロール案内部材11に衝突しにくくなるとともに、衝突しても衝突部分が曲面となるように加熱ロール案内部材11が変形しているため、角折れやしわ等の発生を防止することができる。また、前記実施例1と同様に記録材pの後端両側部分はねあがりによる汚れや画像乱れも発生しない。なお、曲率としては、左右対称でも、あるいは対称でなくても良い。
