魚釣用リ−ルは、海水、水、砂、塵埃、異物等が付着浸入し易い環境の厳しい釣場で使用されることより、耐食性の良好な材料や表面処理がリ−ル本体を構成する各部材に施されている。
又、これら不純物の内部浸入への防止を図り、各部が支障なく機能するために、制動装置を収容したスプ−ルに防水、防塵構造を備えたものが、特開平11−239437号公報等で知られている。
前記公報の構成は、スプ−ル内に収容された制動機構の前部のスプ−ルとドラグノブとの間及びスプ−ル後部のスプ−ルとスプ−ル軸との間に防水用摺接部材を設けて該防水用摺接部材の弾性変形可能な摺接部を何れか一方の摺接面に摺接して、特に、スプ−ル後部からの制動機構内部への水やゴミ等の不純物の浸入をも防止することに配慮したものであり、これにより、制動機構に対する防水効果が総体的に向上された。
