本発明は、電子カメラシステム、電子カメラ、及び外部装置に関する。

近時、撮像した画像をフィルムの代わりに電子的に記憶する電子カメラ(ディジタルカメラ)が普及している。かかる電子カメラは、撮影者がシャッターを押すと、レンズを通った画像がCCD素子によって捕捉され、カメラ内部の回路を通じて内部の記録媒体に読み込まれる。そして、記録された画像は、殆どの場合、外部装置の記憶媒体に保存される。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の電子カメラにあっては、電子カメラの内部に記憶された画像データを外部装置に保存等をする場合に、電子カメラの電池残量が不足している場合は、外部装置に適正な画像データを保存することができないという問題がある。

そこで、本発明は、上記課題に鑑みてなされたものであり、電子カメラの電池残量不足による動作不良を未然に防止することが可能な電子カメラシステム、電子カメラ、及び外部装置を提供することをその目的とする。

(第1の実施の形態)
先ず、構成を説明する。
図1は、本実施の形態の電子カメラシステムに適用される電子カメラ1の斜視図を示し、図2は、電子カメラ1のカメラ部3を前方に90°回動した状態で上面側から見た平面図を示す。

図1に示す如く、電子カメラ1は、本体部2とカメラ部3とに分割された2つのブロックから構成される。
本体部2のケース4内には、LCD(液晶表示装置)6が設けられており、このLCD6は、ケース4の前面側に向けられている。

以下に、電子カメラ1と外部装置であるFDD装置とで電子カメラシステムを構成する場合に関し、詳細に説明する。

図4は、FDD装置80の外観図を示している。
図4において、19は、FDD装置本体で、この装置本体19は、前側面にディスク挿入口801、ディスク取り出し操作用のイジェクトボタン802、ディスクアクセスLED803を配置し、また、上面の前方には、カメラ内の画像を全てFDDに保存するモードを設定する「全部保存」キー804、FDD内の画像を全てカメラに戻すモードを設定する「全部戻す」キー805を配置し、さらに上面の中央部には、LCD16の他に、FDD内の画像を確認するモードを設定する「見る」キー807、カメラの画像を1枚ずつカメラに保存するモードを設定する「保存キー」808、カメラの画像を1枚ずつカメラに戻すモードを設定する「戻す」キー809、FDD内の画像を1枚ずつ消去するモードを設定する「消す」キー810、FDD内の画像を初期化するモードを設定する「初期化」キー811、ページ戻しキー812、ページ送りキー813を配置し、さらに、側面には、電源スイッチ814、上述のI/Oポート81に接続されるシリアル端子815を配置している。

電子カメラ1側で圧縮されたディジタル画像データがFDD装置80に送信され、圧縮画像データのままでFDD84に記憶され、また、このFDD84からの圧縮画像データがカメラ1側に送信されるようになっている。この場合、電子カメラ1側では、FDD装置80からの圧縮画像データをフラッシュ・メモリ57に記憶し、又、圧縮/伸長回路55により伸長してLCD6や外部表示機器に表示する。

次に、本実施の形態の動作を説明する。
図8に示すフローチャートに基づいて、FDD装置80のFDD84に記憶されたディジタル画像データを電子カメラ1側に送信して、電子カメラ1のLCD6等に表示する処理を説明する。

先ず、FDD装置80において、制御回路11は、キーボード88の「見る」キー807が操作されると(ステップS1)、FDD84の画像を確認するモードを設定して、FDD84にディジタル画像データがあることを確認した後、送信モードを設定する(ステップS2)。
ついで、制御回路11は、1枚目の画像送信に係る制御データを電子カメラ1に送信した後、ステップS3で該当ディジタル画像データを送信する(ステップS4)。

電子カメラ1側では、CPU61は、FDD装置80からの制御データを受信すると(ステップS11)、この制御データの内容を確認して、ディジタル画像データを受信する(ステップS12)。そして、受信したディジタル画像データを圧縮/伸長回路55により伸長し(ステップS13)、伸長されたディジタル画像データをLCD6に表示したり、VIDEO OUTにより家庭用の大画面テレビなどの外部表示機器に表示する(ステップS14)。

一方、FDD装置80側では、電子カメラ1から送信される制御データを受信すると(ステップS5)、制御回路11は、ページキー(ページ戻しキー22又はページ送りキー23)の操作の有無を判断する(ステップS6)。キー操作があると判断した場合は、ステップS3に戻り、次の画像送信に係る制御データを送信し、次の画像をLCD6等に表示する処理を行う一方、キー操作がないと判断した場合は、当該フローを終了する。

従って、以上説明したように、電子カメラ1のI/Oポート67にFDD装置80を接続することによって、電子カメラ1のI/Oポート67から圧縮されたディジタル画像データがFDD装置80に送信されると、FDD装置80では、これら圧縮ディジタル画像データをFDD84に大量に記憶することができる。また、FDD装置80のFDD84に記憶されたディジタル画像データをI/Oポート81から電子カメラ1に送信して、電子カメラ1のLCD6に表示することができ、さらにはVIDEO OUTとして家庭用の大画面テレビなどの外部装置にも表示することができる。

その結果、FDD84に記憶されたディジタル画像データを、電子カメラ1に送信してLCD6に表示させながら、FDD84に記憶された画像を1枚ずつ確認することができ、また、この確認を行った上で、電子カメラ1側に画像を転送するか否かを選択するようなこともでき、外部のFDD装置80のディジタル画像データに対して、電子カメラ1側のLCD6を有効に利用することが可能となる。

ところで、電子カメラ1及びFDD装置80間でデータの記憶や表示等の処理をする場合に、電子カメラ1側の電池残量が不足していると、処理の途中で動作不良等が発生することになる。
そこで、本実施の形態においては、FDD装置80が、電子カメラ1の電池残量を判定した後に、目的の処理を行う構成とした。
FDD装置80が、電子カメラ1の電池残量を検知する電池残量検知処理について、図9に示すフローチャートに基づいて説明する。

図9に示すフローチャートは、電子カメラ1のフラッシュメモリ57に記憶されたディジタル画像データを、FDD装置80のFDD84に記憶する記憶処理を為す前に、FDD装置80が、電子カメラ1の電池残量を取得して、記憶処理を安定して行うことが可能であると判断した場合に、かかる記憶処理を実行することを示すものである。

FDD装置80では、電池残量情報データを受信すると(ステップS24)、制御回路82は、電池残量情報データの値が「M]であるか否か、即ち、電子カメラ1の電池残量が十分であるか否かを判断する(ステップS25)。そして、電池残量情報データが電池残量不足を示す「M」であると判断した場合は、電子カメラ1が、正常な動作を行わせるための電池残量がないと判断して、LCD16にに電池残量不足を示す「カメラ電池消耗マーク」1611を表示し(ステップS26)、当該フローを終了する。

一方、ステップS25で、制御回路82が、電池残量情報データが「M」ではないと判断した場合は、ステップ27に移行して、画像受信に係る制御データを電子カメラ1に送信する。カメラ1では、FDD装置80から送信される制御データを受信すると(ステップS33)、CPU21は、かかる受信した制御データの内容を確認して、フラッシュメモリ57に記憶されたディジタル画像データをFDD装置80に送信する(ステップS34)。
FDD装置80では、電子カメラ1から送信されたディジタル画像データを受信すると(ステップS28)、制御回路82は、受信したディジタル画像データをFDD84に記憶して当該フローを終了する。

以上説明したように、本実施の形態においては、FDD装置80は、電子カメラ1の電池残量を判断してから、電子カメラ1のフラッシュメモリ57に記憶されたディジタル画像データをFDD84に保存する構成であるので、電子カメラ1の電池残量不足により異常なディジタル画像データがFDD84に保存されるのを防止することができる。

尚、上記した実施の形態においては、電池残量を2値の電池残量情報データで判断する構成であるが、多値データにより電池残量を判断して、処置するレベルを分けても良い。

尚、上記した実施の形態においては、電子カメラ1のフラッシュメモリ57に記憶されたディジタル画像データを、FDD装置80のFDD84に記憶する処理を行う前に、FDD装置80が電子カメラ1の電池残量を判断する構成であるが、本発明は、かかる構成に限定されるものではない。例えば、FDD装置80のFDD84に記憶されたディジタル画像データを電子カメラ1側に送信して、LCD6等に表示する処理を行う前に、FDD装置80が電子カメラ1の電池残量を確認する構成としても良い。要は、FDD装置80及び電子カメラ間で何等かの処理を行う際に、FDD装置80が、電子カメラ1の電池残量を確認して、目的とする処理が可能であると判断した場合に、かかる目的とする処理を行う構成とすれば良い。
