【0039】
E(k)=E(k±n・N) …(15)
U(k)=U(k±n・N) …(16)
やU(1),U(2),… やU(−1),U(−2),…

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to optical pulse waveform measurement, and more particularly, to an optical soliton pulse waveform reproduction method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As research on application of optical soliton pulses to optical communications and the like progresses, there is an increasing demand for measuring optical soliton waveforms.
[0003]
Conventionally, waveform observation of repetitive optical pulses transmitted through an optical fiber or the like has been performed using an optical pulse analyzer. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a configuration of an optical pulse analyzer. This optical pulse analyzer is roughly divided into an

Next, measurement of an optical pulse waveform using such an optical pulse analyzer will be described. First, the optical pulse waveform E 1 (t) is defined as follows.

[Expression 1]
Here, ω o represents the center frequency of light, and f (t) represents the amplitude including a gradually changing phase. j is an imaginary unit. When the time change of the light intensity is I (t) and the phase change amount is φ (t), the equation (1) is

[0014]
In the equation (4), I f (τ) is a normal interference waveform obtained by a Michelson interferometer, and G 1 (τ) is referred to as a fundamental wave electric field correlation. In the optical pulse analyzer described above, the optical wave interference signal intensity waveform data I f (τ) is acquired as measurement data by the

When normalized by the relational expression, the result is as follows.
[0018]
[Equation 9]
In the above equation, G 2 (τ), F 1 (τ), and F 2 (τ) are given by the following equations, respectively. Here, G 2 (τ) represents intensity correlation, and F 2 (τ) represents second-order harmonic photoelectric field correlation.
[0019]
[Expression 10]
From Equation (7), G 2 (τ), F 1 (τ), and F 2 (τ) have different interference frequencies by ω o, so that they can be separated by Fourier transform. The second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data I SH (τ) is also measured by the optical pulse analyzer.
[0020]
Each of the above data is obtained by moving the moving
[0021]
Once the total interference signal intensity waveform is obtained, the fundamental wave interference signal intensity waveform data I f (τ) is zoomed around the frequency corresponding to ω o and then subjected to fast Fourier transform. The square root of the power spectrum obtained in this way is determined as | E (ω) |. Similarly, the second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data I SH (τ) is obtained by performing zooming around the frequency corresponding to 0,2ω o and performing fast Fourier transform on these. The square roots of the power spectrum values are obtained and are set as | I (ω) | and | U (ω) |, respectively.
[0022]
When the measurement of all interference waveforms is completed, zooming is performed around the frequencies corresponding to the
[0023]
Subsequently, a procedure for reproducing the pulse waveform E (t) from the thus obtained spectra | I (ω) |, | E (ω) |, | U (ω) | will be described. The outline of this procedure is shown in FIG. 2, and FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the relationship between the data. | I (ω) |, | E (ω) |, | U (ω) | are only amplitude information and do not include phase information. Therefore, U (ω) is calculated assuming the phase φ (ω) of E (ω), and the calculated | U (ω) | value and | U (ω) | The pulse waveform E (t) is reproduced by determining the phase φ (ω) so as to minimize the error of. The specific procedure is as follows.
[0024]
Since fundamental wave light interference intensity waveform data I f (τ) and second harmonic light interference intensity waveform data I SH (τ) are observed in different measurement systems, measurement sensitivity is measured prior to waveform reproduction. Compensation, that is, spectral amplitude normalization must be performed. | I (ω) |, | E (ω) |, | U (ω) | are discrete data | I (k) |, | E (k) | If represented by | U (k) |, if the amplitude is corrected, from the equations (5), (8), and (10),
[0025]
[Expression 11]
Therefore, the spectrum amplitude is normalized so that these equations (a1) and (a2) are satisfied. That is, it is only necessary to uniquely determine the relative relationship of amplitude between | E (ω) | and | U (ω) |
[0026]
In the waveform reproduction calculation, first, an arbitrary initial phase value φ E (ω) is given to the fundamental electric field spectrum amplitude data | E (ω) |, the fast inverse Fourier transform (IFFT) is performed, and the assumed phase is calculated. A time waveform E (t) corresponding to φ E (ω) is obtained. And
[0027]
[Expression 12]
U (t) is obtained from the above relationship, and fast Fourier transform is performed on the obtained U (t), thereby calculating | U (ω) | ′ which is a calculated value of the second-order harmonic photoelectric field spectrum. At this time, the calculated value | E (ω) | ′ of the fundamental wave field spectrum data is obtained from the phase φ u (ω) obtained by the calculation and the measured value | U (ω) | of the second harmonic photoelectric field spectrum.
[0028]
The error S E between the measured values | E (ω) |, | U (ω) | and the calculated values | E (ω) | ', | U (ω) |' obtained from the assumed phase φ E (ω) , it is defined as follows S U. Since | E (ω) | and | E (ω) | 'are all data obtained by fast Fourier transform or fast inverse Fourier transform, they are discrete data. Therefore, the Σ symbol in the equations (12) and (13) indicates that a sum is obtained over a group of discrete data.
[0029]
[Formula 13]
Then, the above process is repeated while gradually changing the phase φ E (ω) so that the errors S E and S U become small. Incidentally, it is shown only procedures for error S U is in FIG.
[0030]
Theoretically, error S E, but the S U is to zero a solution of φ E (ω), in reality, due to noise included in the measurement data, these errors S E, the S U It is impossible to set it to 0, and therefore, a certain finite value is used as a solution. That is, when the errors S E and S U become smaller than a predetermined threshold value, the above-described repetitive calculation is terminated, and the phase φ E (ω) at this time is set as a phase spectrum. From this phase spectrum φ E (ω) and the measured value | E (ω) | of the amplitude spectrum, a complex frequency spectrum E (ω) is obtained, and this is subjected to a fast inverse Fourier transform to obtain a true optical pulse waveform E (t ).
[0031]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the optical pulse waveform measuring method described above has the following problems. (1) If the pulse period is T, the frequency spectrum of a short optical soliton pulse has a structure in which several discrete peaks are arranged at intervals of 1 / T on the frequency axis. When the optical pulse waveform is obtained, a waveform clearly different from the original waveform is reproduced. That is, the above-described method can be applied only to spectrum data that changes continuously. (2) In addition, when only the discrete peak value of the frequency spectrum is extracted and the waveform is reproduced using only the extracted peak value, the measurement error cannot be estimated at all and the calculation time cannot be predicted. . (3) Further, there is a problem that the calculation time is long although the number of non-zero spectrum data points is small.
[0032]
The object of the present invention is to use only the data of the discrete peak value of the frequency spectrum obtained from the interference signal intensity waveform data of the optical soliton pulse, and without performing repeated fast Fourier transform operations, the waveform of the optical soliton pulse. It is in providing the method which can reproduce | regenerate.
[0033]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The optical soliton pulse waveform reproduction method of the present invention uses the optical soliton pulse fundamental wave optical interference signal intensity waveform data I f (τ) and second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data I SH as data with the delay time τ as a parameter. The fundamental wave electric field spectrum amplitude | E (ω) | and the second harmonic photoelectric field spectrum | U (ω) | in the frequency domain are calculated by measuring (τ) and performing Fourier transform, and the fundamental wave electric field spectrum amplitude | E (ω) |, intensity spectrum amplitude | I (ω) |, and second-order harmonic photoelectric field spectrum | U (ω) | are extracted with discrete peaks, respectively, and | E (ω) |, | I (Ω) | and | U (ω) | are used to normalize the amplitude, and are established between the peak in the fundamental electric field spectrum and the peak in the second harmonic photoelectric field spectrum. From the relationship, the phase φ (k) in the frequency domain is sequentially calculated for each peak k in the fundamental wave electric field spectrum amplitude | E (ω) |, and the calculated phase φ (k) and the peak value in the fundamental wave electric field spectrum amplitude | The complex frequency spectrum E (ω) is determined from E (k) |, and this is subjected to inverse Fourier transform to reproduce the time waveform of the optical soliton pulse.
[0034]
In the present invention, the fundamental wave optical interference signal intensity waveform data I f (τ) and the second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data I SH (τ) are optical pulses including a Michelson interferometer and a second harmonic generation element. It is preferable to perform measurement by using an analyzer and repeatedly making an optical soliton pulse incident on the optical pulse analyzer while changing the delay time τ.
[0035]
In general, the frequency spectrum | E (ω) |, | U (ω) |, | I of the optical soliton pulse obtained from the fundamental wave optical interference signal intensity waveform data and the second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data measured by the optical pulse analyzer. (Ω) | has discrete peaks as shown in FIGS. 4 (a) to 4 (c). Here, when the measurement span of these interference waveforms is increased, the bottom of each peak in the spectrum becomes smaller and the peak structure becomes sharper, and each peak value comes to a position corresponding to the envelope of the solitary wave. Therefore, it is possible to extract only peak values in the frequency spectrums | E (ω) |, | U (ω) |, | I (ω) |, and perform waveform reproduction using only the extracted data. Become. The present invention intends to reproduce the waveform of the optical soliton pulse from this point of view.
[0036]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Next, an embodiment of the present invention will be described. Here, it is assumed that the optical soliton pulse is incident on the optical pulse analyzer described with reference to FIG. 1, and fundamental wave optical interference signal intensity waveform data and second harmonic optical interference signal intensity waveform data are acquired. It is assumed that normalization processing is performed on each spectrum amplitude as in the case of the conventional technique.
[0037]
The number of points in the fast Fourier transform, that is, the number of data points in the discrete spectrum is N (typically N = 256), and the complex number discrete data of the frequency spectrum E (ω) obtained from the fundamental wave field correlation is represented by E (0), E ( 1), E (2),..., E (N-2), E (N-1), and the complex discrete data of the spectrum U (ω) obtained from the second-order harmonic photoelectric field correlation is represented by U (0), U (1), U (2),..., U (N-2), U (N-1). Then, since Expression (11) is established in the time domain, it is derived that the following relational expression is established between U (i) and E (k).
[0038]
[Expression 14]
However, i and k are integers from 0 to N-1. Furthermore, let n be an integer,
[0039]
[Expression 15]
E (k) = E (k ± n · N) (15)
U (k) = U (k ± n · N) (16)
Is derived. Note that spectrum data obtained from actual measurement is absolute value data of complex discrete data.
[0040]
As described above, when the measurement span of the interference waveform is lengthened, each peak becomes sharp in the spectrum, and finally only one point has a non-zero value for each peak, and the other data points are substantially zero. Therefore, in the following description, the peak values of the central peaks in the respective spectra E (ω) and U (ω) are E (0) and U (0), respectively, and the peaks on the high frequency side from the central peak are shown. E (1), E (2),..., U (1), U (2),..., And the peaks on the lower frequency side from the central peak are sequentially E (-1), E (-2 ),... And U (-1), U (-2),. Then, from equation (14), for example, U (2) adopts only a term for which E (k) is not 0,
[0041]
[Expression 16]
It is expressed as
[0042]
Hereinafter, optical pulse waveform reproduction in the case where the number n of peaks in the frequency spectrum E (ω) is 5 will be considered. Since n = 5, only E (−2) to E (2) are not 0, and therefore, the value of the frequency spectrum U (i) is not 0 from Equation (14), which is limited to the following 9 types. .
[0043]
[Expression 17]
Consider equations that take the complex absolute values of both sides for equations (18-1) to (18-9). At this time, the phase condition in the frequency domain can be determined from the five equations (Equations (18-3) to (18-7)) from U (−2) to U (2).
[0044]
[Expression 18]
The phase values φ (−2) to φ (2) in the frequency domain that satisfy the simultaneous equations (19-1) to (19-5) are obtained. First, among the phase variables φ (−2), φ (−1), φ (0), φ (1), φ (2), the end of the frequency spectrum E (k) having a nonzero value. Two phase variables φ (2) and φ (1) respectively corresponding to the spectrum and the previous spectrum are set to zero. That is,
[0045]
[Equation 19]
φ (1) = φ (2) = 0 (20)
And
[0046]
Even if φ ( 1 ) = φ ( 2 ) = 0, the generality regarding the waveform is not lost. At this time, from equation (19-1),
[0047]
[Expression 20]
It becomes. However, a can take two values of different signs having the same absolute value. Similarly, from equation (19-2),
[0048]
[Expression 21]
It becomes. b can also take two values of different signs having the same absolute value.
[0049]
Subsequently, the value of φ (−2) is obtained. Here, φ (2) = φ (1) = 0 from equation (20), φ (0) = a from equation (21), and φ (−1) = ba from equation (22). By substituting these into the equation (19-3), the phase variable φ (−2) satisfying the equation (19-3) can be determined for each of the values a and b.
[0050]
By the way, if there is a solution of φ (−2) for a specific a and b of the a and b pairs obtained above, the number of the solutions is generally at most two. Thus, a set of phase variable solutions that simultaneously satisfy the equations (19-1) to (19-3) {φ (−2), φ (−1), φ (0), φ (1), φ (2)} Some should be required. However, φ ( 1 ) = φ ( 2 ) = 0.
[0051]
Here, since the equations (19-4) and (19-5) remain, a solution set of phase variables satisfying these two equations is selected from the solution sets already obtained. The solution thus selected is a solution that simultaneously satisfies the equations (19-1) to (19-5). By performing such a procedure, it is possible to obtain φ (2) from the value φ (−2) of each phase variable in the frequency domain. That is, from peak values | E (−2) |,..., | E (2) |, | U (−4) |,..., | U (4) | The phases φ (−2) to φ (2) for each peak of the fundamental wave electric field spectrum are determined.
[0052]
As described above, since the phase φ (k) corresponding to the amplitude | E (k) | of each peak in the frequency spectrum is obtained, an optical pulse waveform can be obtained by a fast inverse Fourier transform operation. The calculation results are as follows.
[0053]
[Expression 22]
According to the above procedure, it is possible to reproduce the soliton light pulse waveform without performing the conventional fast Fourier transform operation.
[0054]
In the above description, the case where the number n of peaks in the frequency spectrum | E (ω) | is 5 has been described. However, the formulas (18-1) to (18) also apply to any case where the number of peaks is other than 5. Since the formula corresponding to -9) is immediately derived from the formula (14), and the formulas corresponding to the formulas (19-1) to (19-5) can be easily obtained, the above-described method should be applied. This makes it possible to reproduce the soliton light pulse waveform.
[0055]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the present invention uses the discrete peak value data of the frequency spectrum obtained from the autocorrelation function of the optical soliton pulse, and the peak of the fundamental electric field correlation spectrum and the peak of the second harmonic photoelectric field spectrum. By sequentially determining the phase for each peak based on the above relationship, there is an effect that the waveform of the optical soliton pulse can be reproduced easily and quickly without performing repeated fast Fourier transform operations.
