Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is directed to a head protection airbag in which gas is ejected from an inflator when a predetermined high load is applied to a vehicle body side portion, and the gas inflates the airbag bag body from the pillar portion along the roof side rail portion in a curtain shape. Equipment related.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to improve the protection performance of the head of the occupant sitting on the front seat when a predetermined high load is applied to the side of the vehicle body, the airbag is stored in a folded state over the front pillar portion and the roof side rail portion. An occupant protection device that expands the bag body in a curtain shape along the side window glass has already been proposed. Hereinafter, a configuration disclosed in WO 96/26087 which discloses this type of occupant protection device will be described.
[0003]
As shown in FIG. 10, the occupant protection device 100 is an elongated member that is disposed so as to extend from a front pillar (A pillar) 102 through a roof side rail 104 to a quarter pillar (C pillar) 105. Of the duct 106 via a hose 114, an airbag bag body 112 stored in a folded state in the duct 106 and fixed to the vehicle body at a front end fixing point 108 and a rear end fixing point 110. An inflator 116 connected to the intermediate portion and ejecting gas when a predetermined high load is applied to the vehicle body side portion is configured as a main component. Further, the airbag body 112 is formed by connecting a plurality of cells 120 each formed in a substantially cylindrical shape and arranged with the vehicle vertical direction as a longitudinal direction.
[0004]
According to the above configuration, when a predetermined high load acts on the vehicle body side, gas is blown from the inflator 116. Therefore, the ejected gas flows into each cell 120 of the folded airbag body 112 via the hose 114 and the duct 106. As a result, each cell 120 expands in a substantially cylindrical shape with the vehicle vertical direction as the longitudinal direction, whereby the airbag bag body 112 expands in a curtain shape along the window glass 122. Further, an intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 112 is arranged inside the upper portion of the center pillar portion 124.

The rear-seat air conditioner outlet 72 is disposed at a position forward of the head 36A of the rear seated occupant 36 and obliquely forward with respect to the head 36A of the rear seated occupant 36. It can be blown from.
[0021]
As shown in FIG. 5, the rear seat air conditioner outlet 72 is fitted into a mounting hole 74 formed in the roof head lining 64. In the area where the rear seat air-conditioner outlet 72 is provided, a space 76 extending in the vehicle front-rear direction is formed between the inner panel 56A of the roof side rail 56 and the roof head lining 64. An airbag bag 16 is stored therein.
[0022]
As shown in FIG. 1, a substantially rectangular notch 80 is formed from below in an intermediate portion between the front-seat inflation chamber 46 and the rear-seat inflation chamber 48 of the airbag bag body 16. The notch 80 is provided with a thin cloth 82 as an intermediate portion forming member.
[0023]
As shown in FIG. 2 (A), when the airbag bag 16 is made of a bag weave, or as shown in FIG. 2 (B), the airbag bag 16 stitches around the base cloth 17. Even in the case where the outer peripheral portion 82A of the thin cloth 82 is stitched to the outer surface of the outer peripheral portion 80A of the notch 80 with the suture thread 81, It is fixed by bonding or the like.
[0024]
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 1, a front edge, a rear edge, and an upper edge serving as an outer peripheral portion 82 </ b> A of the thin cloth 82 are respectively sewn to the vehicle exterior surface of the outer peripheral portion 80 </ b> A of the notch 80. I have. In addition, since the gas pressure at the time of deployment of the airbag body does not act on the thin cloth 82, the strength of the base cloth 17 of the airbag body 16 is not required, and the thin cloth 82 can be used accordingly. .
[0025]
Therefore, the volume of the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 formed of the thin cloth 82 in the folded state is smaller than the volume in the case where the base cloth 17 having the same area is folded. As a result, as shown in FIG. 5, the intermediate portion of the airbag body 16 can be easily stored in a relatively small space 76 formed below the rear air conditioner outlet 72. ing.
[0026]
Next, the operation of the present embodiment will be described.
[0027]
In the head protection airbag device 10 for the front and rear seats of the present embodiment, since the intermediate portion between the front seat inflation chamber 46 and the rear seat inflation chamber 48 of the airbag bag body 16 is made of the thin cloth 82, the air When the bag bag body 16 is folded, the volume of the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 formed of the thin cloth 82 is smaller than that of the base cloth 17 of the airbag bag body 16 having the same area as the thin cloth 82. It is smaller than the volume, in other words, the volume of the middle portion of the airbag bag body 16 in a state where the notch 80 is not formed and in a folded state.
[0028]
As a result, even when the air conditioner outlet 72 for the rear seat is present at the location where the intermediate portion of the airbag bag 16 is stored, the intermediate portion of the folded airbag 16 is connected to the air conditioner outlet 72 for the rear seat. Since it can be stored in a relatively small space 76 formed below, the storage performance of the airbag body 16 can be satisfied. Further, since it is not necessary to unnecessarily expand the storage space of the airbag bag body 16, the rear seat air-conditioner outlet 72 can be disposed at a desired position. In other words, the degree of freedom in designing the rear seat air conditioner outlet 72 can be increased.
[0029]
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, the lower end edge 82B of the thin cloth 82 is a tension line forming portion, and the lower end edge 82B makes the lower end 46A of the front seat expansion chamber 46 a. And the lower end portion 48A of the rear seat inflation chamber 48 are connected to form a tension line extending along the lower part of the airbag bag body 16 in the front-rear direction, so that the occupant support effect of the airbag bag body 16 is ensured. You.
[0030]
Next, a second embodiment of the head protection airbag device for front and rear seats of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0031]
The same members as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof will be omitted.
[0032]
As shown in FIG. 6, in the present embodiment, a substantially rectangular hole 84 is formed in an intermediate portion between the front seat expansion chamber 46 and the rear seat expansion chamber 48 of the airbag bag 16. The lower end portion 46A of the front seat expansion chamber 46 and the lower end portion 48A of the rear seat expansion chamber 48 are connected by a tension line forming portion 16C extending in the front-rear direction. The hole 84 is closed by a thin cloth 86, and the thin cloth 86 and the tension line forming part 16C constitute an intermediate portion forming member.
[0033]
As shown in FIG. 7 (A), when the airbag bag body 16 is made of a bag weave, or as shown in FIG. 7 (B), the airbag bag body 16 is sewn around the base cloth. Even when formed into a bag shape by bonding with an adhesive or the like, the outer peripheral portion 86A of the thin cloth 86 is fixed to the outer peripheral portion 84A of the hole 84 by sewing or bonding, respectively. In addition, since the gas pressure when the airbag body is deployed does not act on the thin cloth 86, the thin cloth 86 does not need to have the same strength as the base cloth of the airbag body 16, and a thinner cloth material can be used.
[0034]
Therefore, also in the present embodiment, as in the first embodiment, the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 formed of the thin cloth 86 has a volume in the folded state, which is the same as that in the folded state. It becomes smaller than the volume when it is done. As a result, as shown in FIG. 5, the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 can be easily stored in a relatively small space 76 formed below the air conditioner outlet 72 for the rear seat and the rear seat. The degree of freedom of design of the air conditioner outlet 72 can be increased.
[0035]
In the present embodiment, when the airbag bag is deployed, the lower end 46A of the front seat inflation chamber 46 and the lower seat 46A for the rear seat are formed by the tension line forming portion 16C made of the base cloth 17 thicker and stronger than the thin cloth 86. A lower end portion 48A of the inflation chamber 48 is connected to form a tension line extending below the airbag bag body 16 in the front-rear direction. For this reason, the occupant support effect of the airbag bag body 16 becomes more reliable.
Next, a third embodiment of the head protection airbag device for front and rear seats of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
[0036]
The same members as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof will be omitted.
[0037]
As shown in FIG. 8, in the present embodiment, a substantially rectangular hole 88 is formed in an intermediate portion of the airbag body 16 between the front seat expansion chamber 46 and the rear seat expansion chamber 48. The lower end portion 46A of the front seat expansion chamber 46 and the lower end portion 48A of the rear seat expansion chamber 48 are connected by a tension line forming portion 16C extending in the front-rear direction. A gas conducting path 92 is formed in the tension line forming section 16C, and gas from the inflator is supplied to the rear seat expansion chamber 48 also through the gas conducting path 92. The hole 88 is closed by a thin cloth 90, and the thin cloth 90 and the tension line forming portion 16C constitute an intermediate portion forming member.
[0038]
As shown in FIG. 9 (A), when the airbag bag 16 is made of a bag weave, or as shown in FIG. 9 (B), the airbag bag 16 adheres around the base cloth. Even when formed into a bag shape by being joined by sewing or the like, the outer peripheral portion 90A of the thin cloth 90 is fixed to the outer peripheral portion 88A of the notch 88 by sewing or bonding, respectively. In addition, since the gas pressure at the time of deployment of the airbag body does not act on the thin cloth 90, the strength of the base cloth of the airbag body 16 is not required, and a thinner cloth material can be used.
[0039]
Therefore, also in the present embodiment, as in the first embodiment, the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 composed of the thin cloth 90 has a volume in the folded state, and the base cloth 17 having the same area is in the folded state. It is smaller than the volume of the case.
[0040]
In the present embodiment, when the airbag bag is deployed, the lower end portion 46A of the front-seat inflation chamber 46 and the rear-seat rear-seat portion 46C are formed by the tension line forming portion 16C made of the base fabric 17 which is thicker and stronger than the thin fabric 90. A lower end portion 48A of the inflation chamber 48 is connected to form a tension line extending below the airbag bag body 16 in the front-rear direction. For this reason, the occupant support effect of the airbag bag body 16 becomes more reliable.
Further, in the present embodiment, the gas from the inflator is supplied to the rear-seat inflation chamber 48 also through the gas conducting path 92 formed in the tension line forming portion 16C when the airbag bag is deployed, so that the rear-seat inflation is performed. The deployment of the chamber 48 is performed quickly.
[0041]

Some will be apparent to those skilled in the art. For example, although the thin cloths 82, 86, and 90 are used as the intermediate part forming members in the above embodiments, other intermediate part forming members such as nets may be used instead of the thin cloths.
[0042]
In each of the above embodiments, the notch 80, the hole 86, and the hole 88 are formed at an intermediate portion between the front-seat inflation chamber 46 and the rear-seat inflation chamber 48 of the airbag bag body 16, and the intermediate portion is formed therebetween. The thin cloths 82, 86, and 90 as the portion forming members are provided, but instead, an intermediate portion (cut) between the front-seat inflation chamber 46 and the rear-seat inflation chamber 48 of the airbag bag body 16 is provided. By forming a part where the coating material is not applied to the base cloth 17 as an intermediate part forming member at the part where the notch 80, the hole 86 and the hole 88 are formed, the intermediate part of the airbag body 16 is folded. May be smaller than the volume when the base cloth coated with the same area of the coating material is folded. Further, by forming a portion having a plurality of small holes as an intermediate portion forming member in an intermediate portion between the front seat expansion chamber 46 and the rear seat expansion chamber 48 of the airbag bag body 16, The configuration may be such that the volume of the intermediate portion of the airbag bag body 16 in the folded state is smaller than the volume of the base fabric in which no small holes are formed in the folded state.
[0043]
In each of the above embodiments, the outer peripheral portions 82A, 86A, 90A of the thin cloths 82, 86, 90 are fixed to the outer surfaces of the notches 80, the outer peripheral portions 80A, 86A, 88A of the holes 86, 88, respectively. Instead, the outer peripheral portions 82A, 86A, 90A of the thin cloths 82, 86, 90 are fixed to the notch 80, the outer peripheral portions 80A, 86A, 88A of the holes 86, 88, respectively, on the vehicle interior side surfaces. It is good also as composition.
[0044]
Further, in the second embodiment, the intermediate portion forming member may be configured to include only the tension line forming portion 16C except for the thin cloth 86. Similarly, in the third embodiment, the intermediate portion forming member may be configured to include only the tension line forming portion 16C except for the thin cloth 90.
[0045]
Further, in each of the above embodiments, the embodiment in which the present invention is applied to the rear-seat air conditioner outlet 72 formed on the roof side rail 56 has been described. Is also applicable to an assist grip, a lamp, and the like provided on the roof side rail 56.
[0046]
Also, in the present embodiment, the head protection airbag device for front and rear seats in which an inflator is disposed on the front pillar (A pillar) side has been described. However, the present invention provides an inflator on the quarter pillar (C pillar) side. The present invention is also applicable to the front and rear seat head protection airbag devices provided.
[0047]
【The invention's effect】
