Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer recording medium used for transfer recording of characters, images, and the like using a thermal head.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as one of thermal transfer recording systems for recording characters, images, and the like using a thermal head, there is a method of forming characters and images using thermal diffusion of a disperse dye. In the case of this system, the dye cannot be developed without a dedicated dye receiving layer. Therefore, printing could not be performed unless the paper was provided with a dedicated dye receiving layer in advance.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and a thermal head is provided in which a transfer layer including a peelable dye-receiving layer and a dye layer of one or more colors are alternately provided in the same base film. A transfer layer including a dye receiving layer on a desired image receiving paper, and a thermal transfer recording medium capable of forming characters and images on any image receiving paper by transferring the dye layer onto the transferred image receiving layer. To provide.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The heat-sensitive transfer recording medium of the present invention is provided with a sticking prevention layer on one side of a base film and an easy-adhesion treatment layer on the other side, and a transfer including a dye layer of one or more colors and a peelable dye receiving layer. In the thermal transfer recording medium, wherein the layers are provided alternately and sequentially on the surface of the easy-adhesion treatment layer, the structure of the dye layer portion is provided in the order of the easy-adhesion treatment layer and the dye layer from the base film, and the peelable The structure of the transfer layer including the dye-receiving layer is composed of the base film, the dye-receiving layer, the concealing layer, and the adhesive layer. The mixture of polyester resin and acrylic resin And a mixture of a styrene-acryl copolymer having a degree of polymerization of 400 or less, a butyral resin and a silicone resin spherical fine particle is used for the dye receiving layer.
[0005]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. The structure of the transfer layer portion including the dye receiving layer is as follows: the base film (1) is more easily bonded to the layer (2), the dye receiving layer (3), the concealing layer (4), and the adhesive layer (5); The structure of the dye layer portion of a plurality of colors is composed of the base film (1), the easy-adhesion treatment layer (2) and the dye layer (7), and the anti-sticking layer (6) is provided on the entire surface opposite to the base film. The heat-sensitive recording transfer medium (8) is formed, and the easy-adhesion treatment layer (2) and the anti-sticking layer (6) are of the same type in the transfer layer portion and the dye layer portion, and are provided on a continuous surface.
[0006]
As the base film (1), a film of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) having a thickness of about 2 to 9 microns is usually used.
[0007]
The easy-adhesion treatment layer (2) was originally provided to improve the adhesion between the dye layer (7) in the dye layer portion and the PET film of the base film (1). I do. In the case of the present invention, the point is that the dye-receiving layer is thermally transferred from the surface of the easy-adhesion treatment layer with a thermal head, but the easy-adhesion treatment layer is originally provided for good adhesion, and is often peeled off. Was difficult. In the present invention, this point is improved. The dye layer (7) is in good contact with the dye layer (3), while the release dye receiving layer (3) is good for thermal transfer with a thermal head.
[0008]
Resin binder used in the dye layer of the present invention, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, ethyl hydroxy cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, cellulose acetate, cellulose resin such as cellulose acetate butyrate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl butyral, polyvinyl Vinyl resins such as acetal, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyacrylamide, polyester resins, styrene / acrylonitrile copolymer resins, phenoxy resins and the like. Among them, polyvinyl butyral, styrene / acrylonitrile copolymer resin, and phenoxy resin are preferable. The dye used in the dye layer is not particularly limited, and any dye used in a conventionally known thermal transfer sheet can be effectively used in the present invention.
[0009]
When this resin binder is used, it does not directly adhere to the PET film as the base material. Therefore, the easy-adhesion treatment layer (2) is provided. For this layer, a mixture of an acrylic resin and a polyester resin is optimal. This layer is applied at the time of forming a PET film, and usually has a thickness of 1 μm or less.
[0010]
In order to peel the dye-receiving layer (3) from the easy-adhesion treatment layer (2) using this resin, a mixture of a styrene-acryl copolymer having a degree of polymerization of 400 or less, a butyral resin and a silicone resin spherical fine particle is used. Is best. If the dye receiving layer can be peeled off directly from the PET film, it is possible to select a resin from a considerably wide range. In this case, in order to make the dye layer (7) adhere to the PET film (1), an easy adhesion treatment layer must be used. It is necessary to perform pattern coating, and if so, the easy adhesion process cannot be performed at the time of forming the PET film, and it must be processed in a separate step. Since the treatment is performed in a separate step, the cost is increased, and the pattern coating of the transparent resin is very difficult due to the coating technique. Therefore, it is more advantageous to peel off the dye receiving layer from the PET film which has been subjected to the easy adhesion treatment.
[0011]
A styrene / acrylic copolymer having a degree of polymerization of 400 or less has a glass transition point of 50 to 70 ° C and a flow softening point of generally 120 ° C or less. When the degree of polymerization exceeds 400, the flow softening point increases, and the low-temperature melting property characteristic of the present copolymer becomes inferior. As a result, when the dye receiving layer is peeled off from the PET film which has been subjected to the easy adhesion treatment, the peeling is performed. Failure may occur. The butyral resin is originally excellent in dye-dyeing properties, and is not particularly limited because it is mainly used for fixing an image forming dye in the present invention. The structure of the spherical particles of silicone resin is a network structure in which siloxane bonds extend three-dimensionally, and is a structure in which a methyl group is bonded to one silicon atom. Those having an average particle size of 0.5 to 5 μm are used. The role of the silicone resin spherical fine particles is to improve the releasability at the time of transfer of the transfer layer, and to prevent fusion between the dye layer and the dye receiving layer when the dye layer portion is subsequently printed on the transfer layer.
[0012]
Silicone oil may be added to one or both of the dye layer (7) and the dye-receiving layer (3). In this case, the silicone oil may be epoxy-modified, alkyl-modified, fluorine-modified, amino-modified, or carboxyl-modified. Modified silicone oils such as alcohol-modified, alkyl-aralkyl-polyether-modified, epoxy / polyether-modified, and polyether-modified are preferred. Its role is to prevent fusion with the dye receiving layer when it is contained in the dye layer, and to prevent it from being fused and to improve the releasability during transfer of the transfer layer when it is contained in the dye receiving layer.
[0013]
Further, the dye receiving layer (3) may be cured with isocyanate. When this layer is cured, the coloring properties and light resistance of the dye can be improved.
[0014]
Describing the other layers, the concealing layer (4) is necessary to conceal the color of the receiving paper. When it is not necessary to hide the color of the base, it is not necessary, but is preferably provided in order to obtain stable color development, and is a resin layer using titanium oxide as a pigment, and usually has a thickness of 1 to 10 μm. The resins used include cellulose derivatives, styrene resins, styrene copolymer resins, acrylic resins, methacrylic resins, rosin ester resins, polyvinyl acetate resins, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl chloride / vinyl acetate copolymers, and ethylene / vinyl acetate copolymers. One or a mixture of two or more of coalescing, polyester resin, polyurethane resin, butyral resin, polyamide resin, petroleum resin, chlorinated rubber, chlorinated polyolefin resin, and epoxy resin is used.
[0015]
Examples of the resin used in the adhesive layer (5) include a cellulose derivative, a styrene resin, a styrene copolymer resin, an acrylic resin, a methacryl resin, a rosin ester resin, a polyvinyl acetate resin, a polyvinyl chloride, a polyvinyl chloride / vinyl acetate copolymer, One or more of ethylene / vinyl acetate copolymer, polyester resin, polyurethane resin, butyral resin, polyamide resin, petroleum resin, chlorinated rubber, chlorinated polyolefin resin, and epoxy resin are used. The resin is selected according to the surface of the image receiving paper to be bonded. Further, silica, benzoguanamine spherical fine particles, fluorine powder, a foaming agent, a thermal expansion agent, acrylic resin spherical fine particles, urethane resin elastic spherical fine particles, wax and the like may be added to this layer.
[0016]
The transfer layer including the dye-receiving layer is transferred to any image receiving paper using the thermal transfer recording medium having the configuration shown in FIG. 1 using the above-described materials. Any heating and pressing means such as a printer having a thermal head, a hot stamper for a transfer foil, and a hot roll may be used. After transferring the transfer layer including the dye receiving layer, the dye layer is heated with a thermal head to form an image.
[0017]
[Action]
If the dye receiving layer according to the present invention can be peeled directly from the PET film as the base material, it is possible to select a resin from a considerably wide range. In this case, in order to make the dye layer adhere to the PET film, an easy adhesion treatment is required. The layer needs to be pattern-coated, and if so, the easy adhesion treatment cannot be performed at the time of forming the PET film, and the treatment must be performed in a separate step. That is, the cost is increased by performing the treatment in another step, and the pattern coating of the transparent resin is very difficult in terms of the coating technique. Therefore, a mixture of a styrene-acryl copolymer having a degree of polymerization of 400 or less, a butyral resin and a silicone resin spherical fine particle is added to the dye receiving layer so that the dye receiving layer can be easily peeled off from the PET film subjected to the easy adhesion treatment. This facilitates peeling.
[0018]
