BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a reflective liquid crystal projector including a fly eye integrator and a polarizing beam splitter.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, the image displayed on the liquid crystal element is irradiated with plane polarized light, and the plane polarized light in a predetermined direction is extracted from the elliptically polarized light reflected by the pixel corresponding to the image on the liquid crystal element. A reflection-type liquid crystal projector that projects on a screen is known. FIG. 1 shows an example of such a reflective liquid crystal projector. The projector includes light source means (not shown), a polarizing

The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and it is possible to select a case where priority is given to contrast and a case where priority is given to brightness. Even when priority is given to contrast, a decrease in brightness is minimized. An object of the present invention is to provide a reflective liquid crystal projector capable of capturing light emitted from a light source with high efficiency while maintaining high contrast and forming a bright image.
[0014]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems of the prior art, the present invention provides first and second fly eye integrators that condense light rays from a light source, and polarization that polarizes light rays from the first and second fly eye integrators. In a reflection-type liquid crystal projector provided with a beam splitter, the principal ray of the light beam formed by the normal line of the splitter surface of the polarizing beam splitter and the optical axis of the light beam incident on the polarizing beam splitter from the second fly eye integrator. The present invention provides a reflective liquid crystal projector characterized in that a slide shutter for adjusting the width in a direction parallel to the incident surface is provided in the vicinity of the second fly's eye integrator.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
First, a preferred outline of the reflective liquid crystal projector of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. The above-described problem that the contrast of the image is lowered is that, for example, the shape of the pupil when the light source side is viewed from the liquid crystal surface, the normal line n of the splitter surface (joint surface) of the

【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, the reflective liquid crystal projector of the present invention is a light beam formed by the normal line of the splitter surface of the polarizing beam splitter and the optical axis of the light beam incident on the polarizing beam splitter from the second fly eye integrator. Since the slide shutter for adjusting the width in the direction parallel to the main incident surface is provided in the vicinity of the second fly eye integrator, it is possible to select between giving priority to contrast and giving priority to brightness. . Even when the slide shutter is closed and priority is given to the contrast, the shape of the pupil is such that the relationship between the opening angle PI parallel to the main incident surface and the opening angle PP perpendicular to the main incident surface satisfies PP> PI. By setting, it is possible to minimize the decrease in brightness, so that it is possible to capture light emitted from the light source with high efficiency while maintaining a high contrast, thereby forming a bright image.
