Sci.Polym.Chem.
【0046】

[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to a novel and useful alkyl etherified amino resin and a method for producing the alkyl etherified amino resin. More specifically, the present invention has a specific repeating unit, in particular, is excellent in curability and flexibility, and particularly includes paints, molding materials, decorative boards, adhesives, and fiber processing agents. The present invention relates to a novel and useful alkyl etherified amino resin which can be suitably used and applied, and a method for producing the resin.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Amino resins have been widely used as thermosetting resins so far, for example, as paints, molding materials, slabs, fiber treatment agents, adhesives or adhesives.
[0003]
As such an amino resin, for example, melamine, benzoguanamine or acetoguanamine and the like, formaldehyde and obtained by reacting an alcohol, melamine resin, benzoguanamine resin or acetoguanamine resin and the like are known. Each has its strengths and weaknesses.
[0004]
For example, melamine resins are used in coatings as curing agents with excellent weather resistance and heat resistance, but have poor storage stability and water resistance, or have poor curability, and therefore have improved curability. For this purpose, an acid catalyst is used.
[0005]
However, although the curability is improved in this way and the hardness is also increased, there is a disadvantage that the cured product is brittle because of the high crosslinking density.
[0006]
In addition, acetoguanamine resin is excellent in flexibility as compared with melamine resin, but is not sufficiently satisfactory, and furthermore, water resistance is even worse.
[0007]
On the other hand, the benzoguanamine resin has improved physical properties such as storage stability and flexibility, but has a drawback of poor hardness due to low curability.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
[0009]
Thus, as long as the conventional technology is followed, it has inevitably high stability, excellent flexibility, hardness, water resistance and boiling resistance, and furthermore, an organic solvent or an alkyd resin. It was extremely difficult to obtain an amino resin having extremely high practicality, such as exhibiting high compatibility with epoxy resins, acrylic resins, polyester resins, and the like.
[0010]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention and a problem to be solved by the present invention are, in one aspect, all of the various problems in the prior art as described above. Another object of the present invention is to provide a new and useful method for producing the alkyl etherified amino resin.
[0011]
Therefore, the present inventors have conducted intensive studies with aiming at the target of the present invention as described above and aiming at the problem to be solved by the invention as described above. As a result, it shows high compatibility with organic solvents and alkyd resins, epoxy resins, acrylic resins, polyester resins, etc. Not only, it shows extremely high stability,
[0012]
It can be used and applied as a curing agent for paints, in particular, it has excellent curability of paints, and the obtained coating film has excellent flexibility, hardness, water resistance and boiling resistance, among others. Now that the present invention has been completed, the present invention has been completed.
[0013]

[0020]
Wherein X is -CH 2 Or -CH 2 OCH 2 Is a group represented by R 1 , R 2 And R 3 Are respectively the same or different, and each represents a hydrogen atom or -CH 2 OH or -CH 2 OR 4 (Where R 4 Represents a lower alkyl group. )), And the above R 2 And R 3 Means that X may be integrally formed. ]
[0021]
The present invention also aims to provide a novel and useful method for producing an alkyl ether amino resin having a repeating unit represented by the following formula:
[0022]
The amino resin according to the present invention is a specific alkyl etherified amino resin having a repeating unit represented by the aforementioned general formula (I), wherein X in the formula (I) is -CH 2 Or -CH 2 OCH 2 A specific group; 1 , R 2 And R 3 May be the same or different from each other, a hydrogen atom, -CH 2 OH or -CH 2 OR 4 (However, R 4 Is a lower alkyl group, usually an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and preferably an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. ), Where R 2 And R 3 And X may be integrally formed to form the above X.
[0023]
The amino resin of the present invention is a condensate having a repeating unit represented by the formula (I), and may have the same repeating unit, or may have a different repeating unit. Is, of course.
[0024]
The presence of these same or different repeating units represented by the formula (I) is, for example, Thirteen It can be confirmed by measuring a C-NMR spectrum [a nuclear magnetic resonance analysis method using an isotope (isotope) of a carbon atom having an atomic weight of 13 which is active against nuclear magnetism].
[0025]
The feature of the spectrum is that various functional groups derived from formaldehyde in the formula (I) are identified by chemical shift. In this identification, a known melamine resin has been obtained. Data [J. Polym. Sci. Polym. Chem. Ed. 17.3205. (1979)].
[0026]
The weight average molecular weight of the amino resin of the present invention can be determined by measuring gel permeation chromatography (hereinafter abbreviated as GPC).
[0027]
In the amino resin of the present invention, if the degree of condensation is excessively high, the weight average molecular weight of the amino resin tends to increase and becomes insoluble in organic solvents and the like, and as a result, it is difficult to use as a thermosetting resin Therefore, the weight average molecular weight determined by GPC is preferably in the range of 350 to 5,000, preferably in the range of 350 to 2,500, and is desirably in the above range.
[0028]
The alkyl etherified amino resin of the present invention may be an organic solvent or another resin, for example, alkyd resin, epoxy resin, acrylic resin or polyester resin, as long as its weight average molecular weight is 5,000 or less. It is sufficiently compatible with such general-purpose resins.
[0029]
The alkyl etherified amino resin of the present invention is obtained by converting 2- (4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) -benzoic acid represented by the formula (II) into methylol with formaldehyde or the like. Then, the compound can be produced by alkyl etherification with an alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
[0030]
The methylolation of 2- (4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) -benzoic acid is selected from the group consisting of formaldehyde, paraformaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde, butyraldehyde, and glyoxal. The reaction can be carried out by reacting at least one aldehyde compound, usually at a temperature in the range of about 60 to about 95 ° C. for about 1 to about 3 hours.
[0031]
As a solvent for such a methylolation, only typical examples of aliphatic or alicyclic alcohols are exemplified, and methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol, iso-butanol, sec- Butanol, tert-butanol, n-amyl alcohol, iso-amyl alcohol, n-hexyl alcohol, sec-hexyl alcohol, 2-methylpentanol, sec-heptyl alcohol, 2-ethylbutyl alcohol, n-octyl alcohol, -Ethylhexyl alcohol, sec-octyl alcohol or cyclohexanol,
[0032]
If only typical representative examples of ether alcohols are given, ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethylene glycol monoethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether, ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether, diethylene glycol monobutyl ether, propylene Glycol monomethyl ether, propylene glycol monoethyl ether, propylene glycol monopropyl ether or propylene glycol monobutyl ether;
[0033]
If only a typical example of ketone alcohols is exemplified, it is acetonymethanol, diacetone alcohol or pyruvyl alcohol, and further, only a typical example of polyhydric alcohols is illustrated. If it is limited to, it is ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol or glycerin.
[0034]
In addition, one or more alcohols selected from the above alcohol group can be used.
Although the reaction system is usually acidic, the pH may be adjusted to 8.0 to 10.0 using tertiary amines, for example, dimethylaminoethanol or tolethylamine, in particular. Of course.
[0035]
The molar ratio of 2- (4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) -benzoic acid represented by the general formula (II) to formaldehyde is usually the former / the latter. An appropriate ratio is such that the ratio is between 1 / 1.5 and 8.0.
[0036]
When formaldehyde or the like is less than 1.5 mol, the self-condensation reaction is liable to occur and the stability of the resin is likely to decrease, which is not preferable. In some cases, free formaldehyde is inevitably high, which is undesirable due to odor problems.
[0037]
In the present invention, the alkoxylation of the methylolated product is carried out under acidic conditions at a pH of about 2 to about 6 at a temperature of about 30 to about 150 ° C., and the reaction time is usually about 2 to about 2. A range of about 30 hours is appropriate, with higher reaction temperatures having shorter reaction times, while lower reaction temperatures have longer reaction times.
[0038]
As the alcohol used for the alkoxylation, it is preferable to use an aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. Among them, methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol, iso-butanol, sec-butanol, tert-butanol, n-amyl alcohol, iso-amyl alcohol, n-hexyl alcohol, sec-hexyl alcohol, 2-methylpentanol or 2-ethylbutyl alcohol is there.
[0039]
Of course, only one kind selected from the alcohol group as described above may be used, or two or more kinds may be used in combination.
[0040]
The molar ratio of 2- (4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) benzoic acid represented by the general formula (II) to alcohol is such that the former / latter ratio is 1 A ratio in the range of /4.0 to 20.0 is appropriate.
[0041]
When the use amount of the alcohol is less than 4.0 mol, the self-condensation reaction is liable to occur, and the stability of the resin is liable to decrease, and the alkyd resin, epoxy resin, acrylic resin, polyester resin, Is unfavorable because the compatibility of the alcohol is reduced. On the other hand, if it exceeds 20.0 mol, the amount of unreacted alcohol will increase and it will not be economical.
[0042]
The thus obtained alkyl etherified amino resin according to the present invention exhibits high compatibility with an organic solvent, an alkyd resin, an epoxy resin, an acrylic resin or a polyester resin. In addition, the resin of the present invention does not thicken, harden or gel even when stored for a long time at room temperature, and exhibits extremely high stability.
[0043]
Furthermore, the coating obtained using the alkyl etherified amino resin according to the present invention is also excellent in curability, and the coating obtained from the coating, in particular, has flexibility, hardness, water resistance and boiling resistance. It is also excellent.
[0044]
As described above, the alkyl etherified amino resin according to the present invention is particularly useful as a curing agent for paints on electric wires, machines, automobile parts, home appliances, pipes, pipes, machinery and beverage cans. Although it can be used and applied, wood, paper, fiber, plastic, inorganic cement base, iron, non-ferrous metal, etc. are included as particularly typical substrates or substrate surfaces to which the resin of the present invention can be applied. .
[0045]
Further, it can be used and applied as a molding material, a decorative board or a laminated board, and can also be used and applied as an adhesive, and can also be used and applied as a fiber processing agent.
[0046]
