Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for lighting an EL backlight of a portable information device incorporating PIM (Personal Information Manager) software such as an electronic address book and a schedule.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, lighting of an EL backlight is generally performed by button operation, but an EL lighting button is assigned to any one of a plurality of buttons. Therefore, when the buttons could not be seen due to darkness or the like, the user had to search for the buttons by groping. Also, since the portable information device is used, the display is restarted by the input device from the display pause state. However, when the display is restarted, the input device is operated, and the EL device is not operated unless the EL lighting button is further operated. I had to do it twice.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the portable information device as described above, the battery life is an issue, so the display power is turned off or the display is blinked when not used for a certain period of time. In addition, after the display is resumed, after the updated information is displayed while the display is paused, the display can return to the screen before the display was paused.
[0004]
From this LCD display pause state, the display is restarted by an input operation. When this display is not visible in the dark, for example, the EL-specific operation button must be operated again, and two operations are required.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In order to solve such a problem, an object of the present invention is to provide a portable information device that resumes display by one input operation and simultaneously turns on an EL backlight.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the portable information device of the present invention is characterized in that the EL backlight is turned on at the same time when the display is restarted by the input device from the LCD display pause state. When the updated information blinks while the display is paused, the EL is also blinked in accordance with the blinking, so that the updated information can be confirmed in the dark without a button operation.
[0006]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a configuration of an embodiment of the present invention.
In FIG. 1, a storage device 12 and operation keys 13 are connected to a CPU (central processing unit) 11, and the

When the
Next, the operation when the display is restarted will be described with reference to a flowchart. FIG. 2 is a flowchart when the paused display is resumed and the EL is turned on. Hereinafter, the numbers in parentheses are symbols corresponding to the respective steps in the figure.
[0009]
When there is an interruption (200) from the operation key, the associated CPU is started (201), a clock is displayed (202), and the EL backlight is turned on (203). This indicates that the device has been restarted normally, and it is presumed that the information that the person carrying the device wants to know will be the time, so that the person carrying the device can select from various types of information to be updated in advance. Needless to say. At this time, the EL is turned on at the same time so that the information that the user wants to know does not look dark.
[0010]
After this clock is displayed for a certain period of time and the EL is turned on, software before pausing is selected, its screen is displayed (204), and the EL is also turned off (205).
Next, two embodiments in which current consumption is reduced by clock display + EL lighting will be described. FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 are flowcharts showing the operation of clock display + EL lighting of the present invention.
In FIG. 3, when there is an interruption (300) from the operation key, the associated CPU is started (301) and a clock is displayed (302).
[0011]
At the same time, the EL is turned on (304) if it is within the EL lighting ON time set and input in advance (303), and if not, the EL is not turned on (305).
This can be set by the wearer of the device in accordance with daily living habits, and only the time to return home at night can be set.
[0012]
In some cases, EL may not be turned on at the same time.
After this clock is displayed for a certain period of time and the EL is turned on, the EL is turned off (306), and at the same time, the software before the display is stopped is displayed (307).
In FIG. 4, when there is an interruption (400) from the operation key, the associated CPU is started (401) and a clock is displayed (402).
[0013]
At the same time, the external brightness is sensed by the illuminance sensor (403), and when the brightness is not readable by the LCD, the EL is turned on (404). When the brightness of the LCD is legible, the EL is not turned on (405).
This means that the information carried by the person carrying the device at any time can be confirmed with a single operation.
[0014]
After the clock is displayed for a certain period of time and the EL is turned on, the EL is turned off (406), and at the same time, the software before the display is stopped is displayed (407).
Next, a method of turning on the EL when there is no operation key interruption will be described with reference to a flowchart. The ON time and the OFF time of EL blinking are set in advance by an operation key, and a timer for terminating EL blinking is set.
[0015]
When the EL blinking software is executed (502), the timer is started (503), the EL is turned on (504), turned off (505), and blinks repeatedly until the timer count is completed (506), and the timer count is completed. (506) Then, the EL is turned off (507). This makes it possible to check the time and the like even when both hands are occupied, such as when driving a motorcycle at night.
[0016]
In addition, by using a timer, it is possible to prevent flashing.
As described above, according to the present invention, in order to reduce the current consumption of the information equipment, the display is in a pause state if no operation is performed for a certain time, and a screen such as a clock is displayed by pressing any operation key when resuming. After that, the screen returns to the screen before pausing, and if any operation key is pressed, the EL can be turned on at the same time in darkness or the like. Further, the time and the like can be confirmed even when both hands are occupied by the blinking of the EL.
[0017]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the portable information device of the present invention has a configuration in which the EL backlight is turned on at the same time when the display is restarted by the input device from the LCD display pause state, and thus has the following effects. .
Regardless of the input from any operation key, the information that the user of the device wants to know is not invisible in the dark. In addition, since the EL is turned on only when necessary, no unnecessary current is consumed, so that the battery life of the device is not affected.
[0018]
Depending on the blinking of the EL, the time and the like can be confirmed even when both hands are occupied, so that one-handed driving of the motorcycle can be prevented, and the time can be confirmed while the worker is working at night.
Therefore, the effect of the present invention, which is easier to use because the information that the user wants to know can be seen from any operation key when the EL is turned on, is very large.
