Description
【0001】
【0026】
サーバ100側のオペレーティング・システムとしては、WindowsNT(マイクロソフトの商標)、Windows95(マイクロソフトの商標)、Windows3.x(マイクロソフトの商標)、OS/2(IBMの商標)、MacOS(Apple社の商標)、AIX(IBMの商標)上のX−WINDOWシステム(MITの商標)などの、標準でGUIマルチウインドウ環境をサポートするものや、PC−DOS(IBMの商標)、MS−DOS(マイクロソフトの商標)などのキャラクタ・ベース環境のもの、さらにはOS/Open(IBMの商標)、VxWorks(Wind River Systems, Inc.の商標)等のリアルタイムOS、JavaOS等のネットワークコンピュータに組み込まれたOSでも実現可能であり、特定のオペレーティング・システム環境に限定されるものではない。
【0027】

[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to an information processing method, and more particularly, to a GUI creation method on a client using an e-mail or an agent.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, in order to create a new user interface, particularly a GUI (graphical user interface), on a client PC in a remote environment, a binary code executable on a development PC is created and executed. It was necessary to actually put the possible code on the client PC and execute it.
[0003]
Here, generally, “GUI (Graphica User Interface)” is a kind of screen format, and the user can select a command, start a program, or view a list of files. The selection can be made by designating an image expression (icon) or a menu item on the screen, and the selection is usually made using a keyboard, a mouse, or the like.
[0004]
There is also a method of automatically generating content in an HTML language like a browser such as Netscape Navigator (trademark of Netscape). In this case, it is necessary that the client PC has some kind of browser. There is a problem that the memory capacity of the client required by the browser is relatively large and does not operate on a PC having a small memory capacity.
[0005]
Therefore, according to the conventional method, when the service content is changed on the server or host side for convenience, like a network service, a new GUI including the service content after the change is appropriately displayed on the client PC or PDA side. could not.
[0006]
Further, in the case of the conventional method, the program for displaying the GUI possessed by each client may be different for each client, and from the server side, the GUI display program possessed by each client may be different for each client. Must be sent to each client PC. That is, in this case, the server has to create new GUI display programs by the number of types of GUI display programs used by each client, which requires a great deal of time and effort. Was something.
[0007]
Furthermore, in the case of a browser, a display corresponding to a client PC cannot be performed without a mechanism for identifying the type of PC to be displayed on the server side.
[0008]
On the other hand, in the case of the conventional browser, when there is an input from the user, communication must be performed online each time, and the traffic load between the client and the server is large, and the communication between the client and the server is large. If the communication path is disconnected due to a failure or the like, such online processing could not cope with it.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved system for creating a GUI on a client using email or an agent.
[0010]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for updating GUIs on all client PCs by sending only one type of mail (agent) describing the content to be displayed from the server (host) side to each client PC. To provide.
[0011]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system capable of displaying a GUI corresponding to each client PC even if the server (host) does not have a mechanism for identifying the type of each client PC displaying the GUI. is there.
[0012]
It is another object of the present invention to provide a system which does not have a browser but can dynamically change the GUI on a client PC having a mailer.
[0013]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for dynamically changing a GUI which can be realized even for a client PC having a client agent manager of our mobile computer agent.
[0014]
Another object of the present invention is to provide a system capable of changing a GUI that can cope with a case where a communication line is disconnected between a client and a server by reusing a GUI for user input stored on the client. To provide.
[0015]
It is another object of the present invention to provide a system capable of changing a GUI with reduced communication line traffic between a client and a server by reusing a GUI for user input stored on a client. .
[0016]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To update the GUI to achieve the above objectives,
(A) obtaining a menu request input selected by the user;
(B) retrieving a result script associated with the selected menu request input on the computer;
(C-1) if the result script is found on the computer as a result of the search, the searched result script is interpreted according to a predetermined rule, and a GUI is displayed based on the result;
(C-2) As a result of the search, when the result script is not found on the computer,
(I) creating an e-mail including the obtained menu request input and transmitting the e-mail to a server computer;
(B) the computer receiving an e-mail including a processing result transmitted from the server computer;
(H) extracting a result script from the e-mail received from the server computer;
(2) interpreting the extracted result script in accordance with a predetermined rule; and (v) displaying a GUI based on the interpreted result.
