2. Description of the Related Art The water content of printing paper before printing is usually 5-6.
%, The water content is usually reduced to 1 to 2% because the printing paper after printing is dried by the dryer in the offset rotary printing machine. On the other hand, in the offset sheet-fed printing press or letterpress printing machine, the printing paper after printing is not dried with the ink by the dryer, and therefore the water content before printing is maintained.

Many books and magazines are bound by bundling a plurality of printing papers printed by various printing machines. The water content of each of the plurality of printing papers is the printing used for printing as described above. It depends on the type of machine. Therefore, if the plurality of printing papers are bound immediately after printing, the printing papers having a water content lower than the stable water content among the plurality of printing papers have a stable water content as time passes after the bookbinding. Printing paper that absorbs moisture in the air and grows slightly in size, and that has a higher moisture content than the stable moisture content releases moisture into the air to achieve a stable moisture content It contracts slightly. For this reason, when a certain amount of time has passed after bookbinding, a step may occur on the cutting surface of a plurality of printing sheets of a bound book or magazine, making it impossible to sell as a product.

In order to prevent the occurrence of such a step, in the conventional rotary offset printing press, the temperature of the printing paper is lowered by spraying and humidifying the printing paper immediately after the ink is dried by the dryer with water. To improve the amount of water,
Water containing silicon is humidified by using a roller to prevent printing damage due to rubbing between multiple printing papers during binding and to improve the alignment between multiple printing papers. There is.

However, in the above-mentioned conventional humidifying device, the amount of humidification of the printing paper can be changed, but the actual water content of the printing paper depends on the surface treatment of the printing paper and the usage status of the printing ink. It is difficult to set a desired value depending on the changing water absorption amount of the printing paper.

In order to make the water absorption amount of the printing paper independent of the influence of the surface treatment of the printing paper and the usage of the printing ink, the surface of the printing paper after printing is introduced before the printing paper after printing is introduced into the humidifying device. However, the water content of the roll-shaped printing papers used in rotary printing machines differs greatly among the roll-shaped printing papers. The water content may differ greatly between the inner part and the inner part. Even if the printing speed or drying temperature is changed, if the water content of the printing paper after drying changes and printing is performed for multiple days, the printing paper should be stored after the printing of one day is completed. Depending on the room temperature, the water content of the printing paper on the next day may differ greatly from the water content of the same printing paper on the previous day.

Therefore, it is difficult to set the water content of each of the plurality of printing sheets immediately before bookbinding to a predetermined value, and a step is formed on the cutting surface of the plurality of printing sheets of a book or magazine after bookbinding, so that it cannot be sold as a product. The humidifying device 22 of this embodiment includes an electric discharge machine 24 facing both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a before the humidification, and the electric discharge machine 24 prints the strip before the humidification. Electric discharge machining is performed using corona discharge over the entire surface of both sides of the paper 12a. Due to this electric discharge machining, fine irregularities are generated on both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a, and as a result, both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a have the same water absorption rate irrespective of the respective surface treatments on both sides and the use status of the printing ink. To have. The electric discharge machine 24 may be configured to be capable of selectively electric discharge machining either one of both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a, or may be arranged so as to face only one predetermined surface and perform electric discharge machining on only one predetermined surface. It can also be configured.

The humidifier 22 of this embodiment is the humidifier 2
In the moving direction of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a in 2, the water sprayer 26 is provided downstream of the electric discharge machine 24 on both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a, and is arranged so as to surround the water sprayer 26. High electric field generator 2
Have eight. The water sprayed from the water sprayer 26 toward both sides of the printing paper 12a is decomposed into finer water droplets by the high electric field region generated by the high electric field generator 28, so that the water is evenly spread over both sides of the printing paper 12a. Can be humidified. Therefore, both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a having the same water absorption rate by electric discharge machining have the same water content. The strip-shaped printing paper 12
The water content of both sides of a can be changed according to the amount of humidification from the water sprayer 26 per unit time and the moving speed of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a.

The desired moisture content inputted is in the range of approximately 5% to approximately 6% in this embodiment. This is because the normal water content in the rolled printing paper 12 is in the range of approximately 5% to approximately 6%, and according to the conventional experience of the applicant, the water content of the printing paper 12a after passing through the humidifying device 22 is approximately 5%. If it is less than 5%, such a printing paper 12a later absorbs moisture in the air and expands, and if the water content of the printing paper 12a after passing through the humidifying device 22 is about 6% or more, such printing is performed. The paper 12a shrinks after discharging moisture into the air.

The water content measuring device 38 is a non-contact type, and measures the water content of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a at a plurality of positions on both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a. The moisture content measuring device 38 sends a moisture content signal corresponding to the measured moisture content on both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a to the humidification amount control means 34. The humidification amount control means 34 compares the desired moisture content signal input by the data input device 36 with the moisture content signal, and the water sprayer is made to match the moisture content signal received from the moisture content measuring device 38 with the desired moisture content. The amount of humidification per unit time from 26 is adjusted.

The output control of the electric discharge machine 24 may be performed by the humidification amount control means 34. In this case, although the humidification amount per unit time from the water sprayer 26 is adjusted based on the water content signal from the water content measuring device 38, only the actual water content lower than the desired water content is obtained. When it cannot be detected by the water content measuring machine 38, the output of the electric discharge machine 24 can be increased to increase the water absorption rate of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a. The output control of the electric discharge machine 24 by the water content measuring device 38 can be performed on both sides of the printing paper 12a.

In one embodiment of FIG. 1, the moisture content measuring device 38 is provided on the both sides of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a downstream of the water sprayer 26 and the high electric field generator 28 in the moving direction of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a in the humidifier 22. Although arranged so as to face each other, in another embodiment of FIG. 3, the water content measuring device 38 '
Is the only difference between the one embodiment and the other embodiment. The mobile water content measuring device 38 'is a strip-shaped printing paper 12 after being humidified.
If the water content on both sides of a can be measured,
It can be arranged at a position downstream of the water sprayer 26 and the high electric field generator 28 of the humidifying device 22 in the moving direction of the strip-shaped printing paper 12a. For example, it is cut into a predetermined length in the folding machine 32 and has a predetermined position. Printing paper 1 after being folded at
It is also possible to measure the water content on both sides of 2a.
