(57)【特許請求の範囲】(57) [Claims] 【請求項1】 トナー像が転写された中間転写体と所定
の記録媒体を、該中間転写体上のトナー像を挟んで重ね
合わせ、重ね合わされた状態の前記中間転写体及び前記
記録媒体を、それぞれが加熱された、前記中間転写体に
接する第1の押圧体と前記記録媒体に接する第2の押圧
体とで挟持することにより、前記中間転写体上のトナー
像を前記記録媒体上に転写すると共に定着するトナー像
転写定着方法において、 前記中間転写体を、該中間転写体にトナー像が転写され
た後、前記第1及び第2の押圧体に挟持される前の段階
所定の予備加熱用熱源を用いて予備加熱し、 予備加熱された状態の中間転写体、及び該中間転写体に
重ね合わされた記録媒体を、前記予備加熱用熱源とは異
なる熱源で、トナー像を形成するトナーの溶融温度以上
に加熱された前記第1の押圧体と、前記予備加熱用熱源
とは異なる熱源で、該溶融温度未満に加熱された前記第
2の押圧体とで挟持することを特徴とするトナー像転写
定着方法。

段および第2の押圧体加熱手段のいずれとも別体に設け
られた予備加熱手段とを有し、前記中間転写体上のトナ
ー像を前記記録媒体上に転写すると共に定着する転写定
着手段を備えたことを特徴とするトナー像転写定着装
