As a general catalyst means, there is a method in which a solution containing a catalyst component is applied to the inner peripheral surface of an exhaust pipe and then baked to bake the catalyst layer. In the case of a steel exhaust pipe, since it is impossible to directly support the catalyst layer on the inner peripheral surface of the exhaust pipe, first, an aluminum or ceramic catalyst supporting component is sprayed onto the inner peripheral surface of the exhaust pipe to spray the catalyst supporting layer. Is formed, and a solution containing a catalyst component is applied thereon and baked to bake the catalyst layer.

However, this requires a great deal of time to form the catalyst supporting layer. Therefore, an exhaust pipe is made of SUS430 stainless steel or the like that can directly support the catalyst component, and the formation of the catalyst supporting layer is omitted. There is a way to do that.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION However, SUS

By the way, the step of providing the catalyst layer is performed after the bending of the exhaust pipe is completed, and peeling of the catalyst layer during the bending is avoided. However, the shape of the exhaust pipe after the bending becomes complicated. Since the whole becomes large, workability in the application step of the catalyst component and the baking step is reduced. For this reason, a catalyst layer cannot be provided on many exhaust pipes at once, and the productivity of the exhaust pipes was poor.

Further, in such a method, since the catalyst layer is formed over the entire length of the inner peripheral surface of the exhaust pipe, the area of the catalyst layer may be more than necessary, thereby causing an excessive catalytic reaction. Therefore, there is a possibility that adverse effects such as overheating of the exhaust pipe may occur.

The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and a catalyst layer can be easily formed on an inner peripheral surface of an exhaust pipe with an appropriate area without sacrificing bending workability of a bent portion of the exhaust pipe. It is an object of the present invention to provide an exhaust system for an engine that can be formed and has high exhaust pipe productivity.

In order to achieve the above object, an exhaust system for an engine according to the present invention comprises an exhaust pipe connected to an exhaust port of the engine, and an exhaust muffler connected downstream of the exhaust pipe. In the exhaust device for an engine configured to include: a catalyst supporting portion made of a material capable of directly supporting a catalyst component on the exhaust pipe; and a steel pipe portion connected to at least one end of the catalyst supporting portion. The catalyst supporting portion was formed in a straight tubular shape, a catalyst layer was formed on the inner peripheral surface thereof, and the steel tube portion was curved and connected to the exhaust port or exhaust muffler.

When the exhaust device of the engine is configured as described above, the catalyst supporting portion made of a material capable of directly supporting the catalyst component is provided in the exhaust pipe, and the catalyst supporting portion is formed in a straight tubular shape. Therefore, the workability during the application step and the baking step of the catalyst component is remarkably improved, and the formation of the catalyst layer is facilitated.

Moreover, the curved portion of the exhaust pipe is
Since it is made of a steel pipe portion made of a steel material having good workability, the bending workability of the bent portion of the exhaust pipe is good.
Further, since the catalyst supporting portion is formed in a straight tubular shape and does not need to be bent, it is very easy to manufacture the catalyst supporting portion even if, for example, a material having poor workability is used for the catalyst supporting portion.

As a result, the productivity of the exhaust pipe is greatly improved. Also, by arbitrarily selecting the length of the catalyst supporting portion, the area of the catalyst layer can be optimized, and at the same time, the amount of expensive materials and catalyst components used is minimized to reduce costs. Can be planned.

Further, since the end of the steel pipe portion is expanded to form an insertion portion, and the end portion of the catalyst carrying portion is connected to the insertion portion, the steel pipe portion and the catalyst carrying portion are connected. Even if the supporting portion is formed of a material having poor workability, it is not necessary to perform an expanding process or the like on the end of the catalyst supporting portion. Therefore, the number of processing portions of the catalyst supporting portion is further reduced, and the manufacture of the exhaust pipe can be further facilitated.

In the exhaust system for an engine according to the present invention, the end portion of the steel pipe portion is expanded to form an insertion portion, and the end portion of the catalyst supporting portion is connected to the insertion portion, thereby forming the steel pipe portion. Since the portion is connected to the catalyst-carrying portion, even if the catalyst-carrying portion is formed of a material having poor workability, it is not necessary to apply an expanding process to the end of the catalyst-carrying portion. Therefore, the number of processing portions of the catalyst supporting portion is further reduced, and the manufacture of the exhaust pipe can be further facilitated.
