このケース15は、図1および図2に示すように上方が開口15aし、この開口15aに蓋体16が開閉可能に設けられていると、蓋体16を開放し回転式ブラシ2a、2bの取り換え作業、支承部材4の取り換え作業およびメンテナンス作業を行うことができるので好ましい。当然に研掃作業時には、蓋体16は密閉しておく。本例では、挿通口17は蓋体16に設けた場合を示しているが、これは適宜である。例えば、ケース15の開口15aの周縁の一部に半円状の切欠を設け、この切欠に対応する蓋体16の周縁の一部に半円状の切欠を設け、蓋体16を閉じた時に両方の切欠で挿通口を形成するようにしてもよい。この構成によれば蓋体16を閉じたままで挿通口17から長尺部材Tを挿通してセットできると共に、蓋を開いた状態でセットすることもできる利点がある。従って、型鋼のような重量があり、挿通口17から挿通してセットするのが難しい長尺部材Tのセットには好ましい。即ち、蓋体16を開いて長尺部材Tを支承部材4、4に載置した後に蓋体16を閉じてセットできるので、挿通口17から挿通してセットしなくても済む。
また、ケース15の少なくとも蓋体16は、透明または半透明のプラスチック部材で構成すると、作業中に研掃状況が視認できるので好ましい。
なお、本例では回転式ブラシ2a、2bおよび支承部材4の部分も含めケース15で包囲するようにしたが、ケース15は研掃作業時に除去物や塵埃が飛散するのを防止するものであり、除去物や塵埃は回転式ブラシ2a、2bの部分から発生するので、ケース15は少なくとも回転式ブラシ2a、2bの部分を包囲するものであればよい。
