この第2実施形態においては、前記出口膨張室13に接続される排気口15を車幅方向に2個並設している。前記2個の排気口15は同一形状で、車幅方向長さB1は、消音効果を考慮して設定する。尚、該排気口15は、消音効果を考慮して3個以上設けることも可能である。
その他の構成及び作用効果は前記第1実施形態と同様であり、これと同一の部材は同一の符号で示す。

この第3実施形態においては、前記第1実施形態に加えて、高温側の入口膨張室12内に酸化触媒あるいは還元触媒のいずれか一方を装填している。40は該酸化触媒あるいは還元触媒の触媒層である。
尚、前記酸化触媒あるいは還元触媒の触媒層40は、入口膨張室12あるいは出口膨張室13の双方に設けてもよく、または出口膨張室13のみに設けてもよい。
かかる第3実施形態によれば、大容積の入口膨張室12あるいは出口膨張室13のいずれか一方または双方に、酸化触媒あるいは還元触媒のいずれか一方を装填した触媒層40を形成できるので、簡単な構造で大容積の触媒装填式消音器を構成でき、酸化触媒あるいは還元触媒の触媒作用を活発化できて、排気ガスの浄化効果を向上できる。
その他の構成及び作用効果は前記第1実施形態と同様であり、これと同一の部材は同一の符号で示す。

排気消音器を含む排気装置をバンパーの内側に配設してなる自動車において、前記排気消音器は、前記バンパーの内側に設けられ車幅方向に延びて管材を用いない横長型排気消音器に構成されるとともに、消音器本体内にはエンジン側排気管に接続される容積形の入口膨張室と排ガスの大気への排気口を1個または複数個そなえた容積形の出口膨張室とがガス通路を有する仕切部材により仕切って設けられており、前記排気口は、車幅方向長さがこれと直角方向長さよりも大きい略矩形状あるいは略長円形状あるいは楕円形状のいずれかの形状をなし、前記消音器本体と一体の絞り加工により加工成形されて、下方または斜め下方に向けて開口されていることを特徴とする自動車の排気装置。  In an automobile in which an exhaust device including an exhaust silencer is disposed inside a bumper, the exhaust silencer is configured as a horizontally long exhaust silencer that is provided inside the bumper and extends in the vehicle width direction and does not use a pipe.
