口の越流部に流入口と対向して形成した蔽壁部に当た
り、流入口側にはね返り、勢いが減弱され、土砂は容器
内に確実に沈殿して堆積する。そして、上澄みの排水の
みが、蔽壁部の周囲の越流部を通過してトラップ管へと
流出し、トラップ管への土砂の流出を確実に抑止でき
る。
