手動回転によって昇降させる方式は、ピアノの下にもぐりこんでその機構を動かす必要があり、しかもピアノの加重がかかると、その輪の回転は非常に重くなり、上げる際も、下げる際も、非常に労力のかかるものであった。
油圧ポンプを採用した製品であっても、その運搬台車自体が大型で重く、また、ピアノを下降させる際、ピアノの質量が加重されると下降速度が速くなり、そのまま床に接地した場合、ピアノ脚部の折損やピアノ内部の精密部品へのダメージを与えるという問題があった。

昇降機構に油圧ポンプを組み込むことにより、足でペダルを数回踏むだけで簡単に上昇し、レバーを握るだけで、下降させることができる。目安として、上昇に5秒、下降に3秒程度である。従来の手動回転式の場合、少なくとも3分程度の作業時間を要するため、これは非常に労力の軽減と時間の短縮をもたらすものである。
また、油圧ポンプ式の下降側油圧回路上に流量調節弁と開放弁を直列に設定、ピアノの質量に合わせて流量調節弁を調整することにより、従来の油圧式台車では困難であったピアノの下降速度を適切に設定が可能となる。よって、ピアノに衝撃を与えることなく床に接地させることができる。
