通常は1日4回交換するが、交換の都度コネクターの接
続を解除するので、その際に内部に細菌が進入する機会
が多い。また、接続中も接続部が完全に密閉されていな
いと、その隙間から細菌が進入する恐れがあり、細菌感
染による腹膜炎の発生は、腹膜透析を行う上で、大きな
問題となっている。コネクターを解除した際の細菌の進
入に対しては、消毒液によるコネクター部の消毒や紫外
線照射または加熱による殺菌などの処置が行われてお
り、コネクター接続中の細菌の進入の防止は、コネクタ
ーの周囲を消毒液をスポンジ等で覆う方法が採られてい
る。この場合には消毒液の漏出防止のため、およびコネ
クターの保護等のために、前記スポンジ層の周囲を硬質
カバーで覆う必要がある。本出願人は、先にコネクター
部の消毒を行う消毒容器の一部である消毒液を吸収した
液体吸収性材料層を内表面に有する円筒状部材をコネク
ター接続部のカバーとして使用すること、さらに前記円
筒状部材の上にカバーを取り付けコネクターを保護する
ことを提案している(特公昭63−50022号公

る円筒状被覆材とを収納することのできる空所を有する
前記コネクターおよび円筒状被覆材の保護カバーにおい
て、該容器は開閉自在の2個のプラスチック製の上蓋と
下蓋で構成され、該上蓋および/または下蓋の側面壁に
は前記円筒状被覆材の鍔を嵌合し収納及び固定するスリ
ット穴を有し、また該上蓋および下蓋の側面壁には、挿
入される医療用チューブとほぼ同径の穴を形成すること
のできる切り欠き部を有することを特徴とする医療用具
のチューブ接続部のコネクターの保護カバーに関する。
本出願人は、前記したように特公昭63ー50022号
公報において、医療用具のチューブ接続部のコネクター
の消毒およびコネクター接続後の接続部の保護を行うの
に有用な装置を開示している。該装置では、内面に殺菌
剤を含有させた吸液性材料層を有する円筒状被覆材と、
円筒状部材の一端に装着される蓋材と、コネクター接続
後に円筒状部材を収納する保護カバーから構成されてい
る。この装置では、コネクター接続後に該装置の一部で
ある殺菌剤を含有させた吸液性材料層を有する円筒状被
覆材でコネクターの周囲を包囲し、その周りをさらに、
硬質のカバーで保護することを行っている。さらに、蓋
材を脱着する際に円筒状被覆材を把持しやすいように、
蓋材が装着される側とは反対側の円筒状被覆材の外面に
鍔を設けることが好ましい。そして前記硬質の保護カバ
ーは、単に円筒状被覆材を保護するだけではなく、コネ
クターと円筒状被覆材と固定して、両者がずれないよう
する役目もあるので、前記保護カバーは両端でコネクタ
ーを固定するとともに、前記円筒状被覆材に設けた鍔を
前記保護カバー内部に設けた鍔固定部で固定する。しか
しながら、従来の保護カバーは円筒状被覆材全体を収納
するようになっているため、その内径が円筒状被覆材に
設けられた鍔よりも大きくなければならず、しかも内部
に鍔固定部が設けられているために、径の大きな嵩張る
ものになるという問題点があった。特にこの問題は、前
記した連続携行式腹膜透析(CAPD)のようにコネク
ター部を携行するような場合に解決すべき重要な課題で
あつた。本発明においては、上記したように円筒状被覆
材の鍔は、保護カバーのスリットに収納されるので、保
護カバーの内径は円筒状被覆材の外径とほぼ同じで良
く、従来のものに比してよりコンパクトにすることがで
きる。また、円筒状被覆材の鍔は保護カバーのスリット
に挿入されることにより両者は固定されるので、従来の
ように両者の固定のために保護カバーの内部に鍔を固定
するために複雑な手段を設ける必要がないので、保護カ
バーの構造が簡単になるだけでなく、鍔がスリットに挿
入して固定されるのでより強固に固定される。また、本
発明の上蓋および下蓋は、両者を閉じた際に円筒状被覆
材とコネクターを収納することのできるような形状を有
していればよいが、円筒状被覆材およびコネクターに対
応した半円筒状部とする同一形状のものが好ましい。上
蓋および下蓋としては、同一円形状の半円筒状のものを
使用すると、上蓋および下蓋の双方にスリットを設ける
ことができ、双方のスリットに鍔を収納することができ
るので、保護カバーは、よりコンパクトにすることがで
きる。また、本発明の保護カバーは、種々考えられる
が、特にポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリスチレン
等の合成樹脂を使用し、射出成形等により、上蓋、下
蓋、ヒンジ部および上蓋と下蓋の係止部が一体的に製造
することが好ましい。特にポリプロピレンとポリスチレ
ンは、耐久性のあるヒンジを形成できるので好ましい。
また、柔軟性を付与したい場合は、エチレン−プロピレ
ン・ジエン3元共重合体を配合したポリプロピレンが好
ましい。但し保護カバーの材質は金属等であってもよ
く、また上蓋と下蓋とは、これらとは別個に設けたヒン
