2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in a scanner equipped with an automatic document feeder, the following methods have been studied as means for collecting a document from an original platen glass surface into the automatic document feeder. FIG. 5 is a first configuration diagram of a portion of a conventional apparatus for collecting a document in an automatic document feeder. The original 2a is fed while being pressed against the reading glass 12 for the automatic original feeder by the rotation of the roller 5, and at that time, the original 2a is illuminated by the illuminating device 7, and the illuminated original image is transmitted to the lens 9 by the mirror 8. The document 2a is guided, imaged on the image sensor 10 and read, and the document 2a passing through the reading glass 12 is collected into the automatic document feeder by the paper rake 6 inserted into the concave portion of the case beam 13. FIG. 6 is a second structural view of a portion for collecting an original in the automatic original feeder. The original 2a having passed the reading position is automatically moved by the paper rake 6 inserted into the original rake groove 14 of the original platen glass 1. Collected in the feeder.

In the document collecting means of the conventional automatic document feeder, in the first conventional example, a paper scoop is inserted between the platen glass and the glass for the automatic document feeder. A beam shape is required to cover between the two glasses.
In the case where the beam and the beam are integrated, molding failure such as insufficient filling or warpage of the beam is likely to occur, and it is necessary to separate the beam shape. Further, the beam shape and the glass for the automatic document feeder are elongated in the main scanning direction, and the periphery of the automatic document feeder becomes weak.

Further, the second conventional example has a drawback in that a groove is formed in the original table glass itself, so that the groove processing of the original glass becomes very expensive.

In a third conventional example, when a lens is focused on the surface of a normal document for reading the normal document,
When using the automatic document feeder, a transparent sheet for the document guide
Since the sheet is sandwiched between the platen glass and the document, the lens focus shifts by the thickness of the sheet. Conversely, when the document is focused on using the automatic document feeder, the lens focus is usually set when reading the document. There was a disadvantage that it shifted.

In the case of reading without using the automatic document feeder, the optical system is in a normal reading state 11b, and moves in the sub-scanning direction to read the document 2b.
The original image is illuminated by the illumination device 7 and guided to the lens 9 by the mirror 8 to form an image on the image sensor 10. When the automatic document feeder is used, the optical system is in the automatic document feeder use state 11a, and the original 2a is fed while being pressed against the transparent upper glass 3 by the rotation of the roller 5, and is transmitted by the transparent lower glass 4. The lens focus is moved from the surface of the platen glass 1 to the surface of the upper glass 3, and then the original 2 a passing through the upper glass is automatically fed by the step between the upper glass 3 and the platen glass 1 and the paper rake 6. Collected in the device. If the top glass 3 is not provided, the document 2a is sandwiched between the paper rake 6 and the platen glass 1, and the document 2a cannot be separated from the platen glass 1 and cannot be collected.

FIG. 2 is a first detailed view of a rake portion of a document of the automatic document feeder.
The original scale, which is printed on the white reference printing surface 24 which does not hinder reading and illumination, and serves as a reference for arranging the originals, is also on the surface of the transparent top glass 3 and does not hinder reading and illumination. When the normal original 2b is printed on the original scale print surface 23 and the normal original 2b is set, the original position is determined by pressing the original end against the edge of the upper glass 3.

FIG. 3 is a second detailed view of the rake portion of the original of the automatic document feeder, and is a part for both scale and white reference.
Reference numeral 5 denotes a scale having an upper surface and a lower surface serving as a white reference. When the original 2b is placed on the platen glass 1, the scale can be confirmed through the transparent upper glass 3, and the reading and reading can be performed. When the original 2b is installed at a position that does not hinder the illumination and the ordinary original 2b is installed, the original position is determined by pressing the original end against the edge of the upper glass 3.

The lens optical path 15 at the time of normal reading is refracted by the original table glass 1 at the position of the refraction point 20, and becomes like an optical path 17 in the glass, and forms an image on the surface of the original table glass 1. In this state, if the optical path 15 is bent like the optical path 17 at the position of the overhead line 22, the optical path becomes like the overhead optical path 18. In order to obtain an optical path similar to the optical path 18, the optical path 16 is refracted at the refraction point 21 by the lower surface glass 4, an optical path 19 in the glass is obtained, and the upper surface glass 3 is provided to press the document at the focal point of the optical path 19. According to the above principle, an optimal lens focal position can be obtained both when the automatic document feeder is used and when it is not used. The upper glass and the lower glass need not be glass as long as they are transparent members.
