2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, activated carbon fibers, which are lightweight, have a large surface area, and have a high adsorptivity, have been used as a main material as filtration media used for filtration of liquids such as drinking water and various fluid filtrations such as filters for air purifiers. More known,
In order to make the activated carbon fiber which is easily broken into a filter, the activated carbon fiber is wound into a cylindrical shape along with a nonwoven fabric as disclosed in JP-A-5-309218, or as disclosed in JP-A-2-119.
No. 909, activated carbon fibers are formed into a non-woven fabric together with thermoplastic fibers, and are then rolled into a cylindrical shape and melted and integrated by heating. However, those obtained by winding the activated carbon fiber into a non-woven fabric along with the activated carbon fiber as described above or forming the activated carbon fiber into a non-woven fabric together with a thermoplastic fiber and then rolling the same into a cylindrical shape and melting and integrating by heating,
In each case, the ratio of activated carbon fiber in the whole is only about 70% at most, so the filtration efficiency is insufficient and the activated carbon fiber breaks during the manufacturing process or handling, and the cut short pieces fall down and pollute the surroundings. There is.

The problem to be solved by the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems, to increase the ratio of activated carbon fibers in the whole, to improve the filtration efficiency, and to improve the filtration efficiency during the manufacturing process or during the handling. It is an object of the present invention to provide an inexpensive filter body mainly made of activated carbon fiber which does not have a problem that the activated carbon fiber is broken and the cut short pieces fall and stain the surroundings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. Reference numeral 1 denotes a main body of a filter body integrally formed in a cylindrical, columnar, thick plate or other required shape. This main body 1 is a cut short piece of countless activated carbon fibers as a main material in a molding die of a required shape. 2 and the cut short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber mixed therewith are mixed and filled, and then heated to a temperature at which the surface of each cut short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber is melted to exhibit a function as a binder. On the surface of the cut short piece 2 and the cut short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber, the two are intricately bonded and connected, cooled, formed into a required shape, and then demolded. Because the innumerable cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fiber as the main material and the cut pieces 3 of the hot-melt fiber mixed with each other are intricately bonded and connected, a fine communicating gap is formed between the cut pieces 2 and 3. Is formed.

The cut short piece 2 of activated carbon fiber, which is the main material of the main body 1, may be a piece obtained by cutting a long activated carbon fiber to a predetermined size or a broken piece broken during handling.
About 3 mm is appropriate, while the cut short piece 3 of the mixed hot-melt fiber is a polyolefin-based fiber having a relatively low melting point,
A hot melt fiber such as a conjugate fiber in which the surface layer of an EVA fiber is coated on a core having a higher melting point than this is cut to a predetermined size, and its length is suitably about 1 to 5 mm. Also, a cut piece 2 of activated carbon fiber and a cut piece 3 of hot melt fiber
The mixing ratio is higher as the ratio of the cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fibers is larger, but the filtration efficiency is better. However, if the bonded portion is smaller, the cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fibers fall off. Is preferably mixed in the range of 3 to 10% by volume. In the figure, reference numeral 4 denotes a sheet-like or net-like temporary wrapping material that is provided on the surface of the main body 1 as needed.

The main component 1 is composed of a large number of cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fibers which are light in weight, have a large surface area and good adsorbability, and have the cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fibers. The surface of the cut short piece 3 of the small amount of the hot-melt fiber mixed therewith was partially bonded and connected as a binder to form a fine communication gap between the cut short pieces. Even in such a case, excellent filtration performance can be exhibited. In addition, since the innumerable cut pieces 2 of activated carbon fibers are intricately adhered and held on the surfaces of the cut pieces 3 of mixed hot-melt fibers, they do not fall off easily and can be used for a long time. In addition, the ratio of the communication gap occupied in the main body 1 integrally formed into a required shape can be determined arbitrarily depending on whether or not the pressure is applied during the molding or the degree of the pressure. It is also easy to make it suitable.

[0008] Then, in order to obtain the filter according to the present invention,
In short, the cutting short piece 2 of activated carbon fiber and the cutting short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber mixed therewith are supplied and mixed and filled in the molding die, for example, under vibration, and at least the surface of each cutting short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber is By heating to the melting temperature, the cut short piece 2 of the activated carbon fiber and the cut short piece 3 of the hot melt fiber are intricately partially bonded and connected at the contacting surface portion to form the main body 1 of a required form. It has a great advantage that it can be mass-produced inexpensively without any need for post-processing such as winding and bonding.

The length of the cut short piece 2 of activated carbon fiber is 1
Approximately 3 mm and the length of the cut short piece 3 of the hot-melt fiber mixed therewith, which is approximately 1-5 mm, are not obtained by cutting a long activated carbon fiber into a predetermined size, but are broken during handling of a long activated carbon fiber. Therefore, there is an advantage that the cost of raw materials can be reduced and the cost can be reduced.

As is clear from the description of the above embodiment, the present invention is based on a cut short piece of activated carbon fiber having a large surface area and good adsorbability as a main material, and a cut short piece of a small amount of hot-melt fiber mixed therewith. Because the cut short pieces of countless activated carbon fibers as the main material on the surface are intricately partially bonded and connected to form fine communication gaps between the cut short pieces, they are integrally molded into a main body of a required shape, It becomes a filter body that fully demonstrates the properties of activated carbon fiber, and is lightweight and has high filtration efficiency. Moreover, since the activated carbon fibers are cut short pieces, the cost of raw materials can be made relatively low because the broken parts and waste equivalents can be used without waste. In addition, the activated carbon fibers break during the manufacturing process or during handling, and the cut short pieces are used. Can also solve problems such as dropping and soiling the surroundings. Further, in such a filter, a cut short piece of activated carbon fiber as a main material and a small amount of cut short piece of hot-melt fiber are filled in a molding die having a required shape in a mixed state, and at least the surface of the hot-melt fiber is filled with this. By heating to a temperature at which it melts, it is possible to easily form a main body having a shape corresponding to an appropriate filter, and thus there is an advantage that it can be provided at low cost. Therefore, the present invention has a very high industrial value as a filter which has solved the problems of the conventional filter.
