FIG. 1 is a flowchart showing the operation of the camera having the configuration shown in FIG. 2. The operation will be described with reference to FIG. First, when the battery 1 serving as a power supply is inserted into the camera body, the power supply V DD is supplied to the sequence controller 5 through the diode 3, a predetermined power-up clear circuit operates, and the sequence controller 5 starts operating. At this time, the RAM in the sequence controller 5 not shown in FIG. 2 is initialized, and a program for detecting the states of the switches 16 to 20 is operated. At this time, if there is no change in each of the switches 16 to 20, the sequence controller 5 continues to monitor the switches 16 to 20 (the state at this time is hereinafter referred to as SW WAIT). At this time, the lens barrier is open and the barrier switch 1
When the release button is pushed down to the first stroke while the switch 6 is ON and the switch 17 (SW1) is turned ON, the sequence controller 5 goes out of the SW WAIT state and performs a known battery check operation. At this time, if the battery voltage is low, it is determined that the battery is NG, the sequence is interrupted, and the flow returns to SW WAIT. Battery read ISO of it if the film is sufficiently high voltages, performs photometry by using a known photometric circuit, if darker than a predetermined brightness (e.g., E V 10.5) starts charging the flash. At this time, until the strobe charging is completed, the charging is completed while detecting the states of the barrier switches 16 and 17. At this time, if either the barrier switch 16 or the switch 17 is turned off, the charging is stopped, and the process returns to the SW WAIT for monitoring each switch again. If the charging is completed while the switches 16 and 17 remain ON, the charging is immediately stopped, and the above-described battery check operation is performed again.
If K, the timer means in the sequence controller 5 not shown is started. At this time, if the photometry result is darker than a predetermined value, the flash photography is performed, so that the pre-irradiation lamp 6 is turned on to alleviate the red-eye phenomenon at the time of the flash photography, and that the photographing preparation is completed. LED 8 is turned on to inform the user. Thereafter, the state of the timer is checked while detecting the state of each of the barrier switch 16 and the switches 17 and 18, and if it is less than a predetermined value (for example, 1.5 seconds), the LED 8 is turned on and off, and the lamp 6 is pre-irradiated. Warns the photographer that the red-eye reduction effect of the camera is not sufficient, holds the release button in the first stroke, and prompts the user not to press the release button until the second stroke.
When the timer has exceeded a predetermined value (for example, 1.5 seconds), the lamp 6 is switched from blinking to lighting, and monitoring of the switches 16, 17 and 18 is continued. However, when either the switch 16 or 17 is turned off, the LED 8 and the lamp 6 are turned off irrespective of the value of the timer, and the process returns to SW WAIT. When the release button is pressed while the switches 16 and 17 are turned on and the switch 18 is turned on, the lamp 6 and the LED 8 are turned off regardless of the timer value. Do. Thereafter, a predetermined operation such as winding is performed, and the process returns to SW WAIT again.

As described above, in the camera according to the present invention, pre-irradiation is performed only while the first stroke of the shutter release button is held, and when the pre-irradiation time is shorter than a predetermined value, a warning is given by the display means. If the value is equal to or more than the predetermined value, the warning is released without warning.

According to the camera of the present invention, the release time lag can be prevented, and the photographer can be notified of the red-eye reduction effect. In addition, operability is simple and there is no increase in cost because no additional switch or the like is involved.
