2. Description of the Related Art In general, in a vehicle, longitudinal ends of a cowl extending in a vehicle width direction along a lower edge of a front window glass are, as described in, for example, Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 1-85190, front and rear. The rear end portion of the apron member extending in the direction is connected to the apron member so as to reinforce the apron covering both sides in the vehicle width direction of the engine room.

In the apron member described above, it is necessary to ensure sufficient rigidity of the member itself. However, an impact load is applied to the front end of the apron member due to, for example, a front collision of a vehicle. When inputting, it is necessary to buckle the apron member to absorb the impact load. However, in the apron member disclosed in the above publication, the rigidity of the apron member is secured by forming the rib. Even if it is possible, there may be a problem that the apron member cannot be smoothly buckled when an impact load is input to the front end of the apron member due to the rigidity secured by the formation of the rib.

The present invention has been developed in view of the above circumstances. It is an object of the present invention to sufficiently secure the rigidity of the apron member itself in a so-called static state in which no longitudinal impact is applied. It is still another object of the present invention to provide an apron member that can buckle smoothly when a predetermined impact load is input, and can efficiently absorb the impact load.

According to the first aspect of the present invention,

e, and both ends thereof extend vertically above the bead 7e and extend in the same direction as the direction in which the bead 7e protrudes.
The bulging portion 8 having the upper bulging portion 8a bulging substantially in the shape of a cross section in the direction is formed, so that the bent wall surface of the apron member 3 itself increases accordingly, so that the impact in the front-rear direction is reduced. The rigidity of the apron member 3 itself in a so-called static state where the apron member 3 is not applied is further increased. Thus, the apron member 3 buckles via the bulging portion 8 so that impact energy can be efficiently absorbed.

That is, in the embodiment shown in the drawings, the support member 1 on the vertical wall 4 to the lower wall 5 and the flange 6 is provided.
A bulging portion 8 protruding in the vertical direction across the fifth bead 7e is provided at a position rearward of the mounting portion of the No. 0.
Specifically, the upper bulging portion 8a that bulges in a substantially mountain-shaped cross section in the same direction as the direction in which the fifth bead 7e protrudes is crossed vertically from the upper end of the vertical wall 4 to the widthwise center of the fifth bead 7e. The lower wall 5 and the flange 6 extend downward to the lower end of the vertical wall 4 and extend to the lower end edge of the flange 6 at the lower end of the upper bulging portion 8a. The bulging portions 8b are formed, and these upper bulging portions 8a are formed.
And the lower swelling portion 8b constitutes the swelling portion 8, and the apron member 3 is connected to the apron member 3 through the swelling portion 8 in response to input of a predetermined or more impact load on the apron member 3 in the front-rear direction.
Is trying to buckle.

Further, in the embodiment shown in the figure, a bulging portion 9 having a semicircular cross section extending substantially vertically from the upper end of the vertical wall 4 to the lower end of the flange 6 is also formed at the front end of the apron member 3. With the input of a predetermined or more impact load on the apron member 3 in the front-rear direction, the bulging portion 8
At the same time, the apron member 3 is smoothly buckled by the bulging portion 9.

On the other hand, for example, at the time of a frontal collision of the vehicle,
When an impact load equal to or more than a predetermined value is input to the front end of the apron member 3, the apron member 3 buckles through the bulging portions 8, 9, and the apron member 3 efficiently reduces the impact energy. It can be well absorbed.
