囲、すなわち図7のハッチングを付した部分のみとな
り、攪拌翼31の外周面33のうちハッチングのない部分は
やはり摩耗することが分かった。また攪拌翼31のうち、
前面側の羽根面の前端部35と後端部36も比較的摩耗の激
しい部分であるが、図6に示すプロテクター32はこれら
の部分の保護には役立たないことが分かった。なお、攪
拌翼31の全体を十分に肉厚とすれば摩耗に耐えられるこ
とは自明であるが、この種の攪拌翼31は内部の高温高圧
の蒸気により湿潤物質を乾燥させるためのものであるた
め、その肉厚を大きくすることは熱伝導率の低下を招く
ために好ましくない。

ように、1個のプロテクター8が保護できるのは、プロ
テクター8の両端から攪拌翼付乾燥軸5、6の軸線に対
して垂直に引いた直線に挟まれた部分だけであり、先端
部に1個のプロテクター8を取付けただけでは攪拌翼7
の外周部の全体を保護できないためである。
