(B) Conventional technology and its problems In general, contact lenses have a wider field of view than spectacles, and recently, soft contact lenses have been developed, and the inconvenience of attaching and detaching is being solved. I am doing it. However, there is a drawback that it is difficult to find because it is small and easily dropped, and when dropped, it is transparent and difficult to find. The present invention has been made in view of the above points,
It is an object of the present invention to provide a contact lens that is easy to find when dropped. (C) Means for Solving the Problems The contact lens according to the present invention is a colorless transparent film at a temperature near body temperature, and a film obtained by microencapsulating a liquid crystal to be colored at other temperatures with a binder. Wherein the film is formed on the lens surface. In addition, the liquid crystal is colorless and transparent at a temperature near the body temperature, and has a liquid crystal to be colored inside the lens at other temperatures. (D) Function According to the above configuration, when the temperature of the contact lens is changed from a temperature near the body temperature when the contact lens is dropped, the contact lens is colored. (E) Example Hereinafter, an example of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a sectional view of a contact lens according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an enlarged view of a part thereof.
The contact lens 1 of this embodiment includes a contact lens body 2 and a liquid crystal film 3 formed on the surface of the contact lens body 2. The contact lens body 2
It is the same contact lens as the conventional one. The liquid crystal film 3
As shown in FIG. 2, it is a film containing the liquid crystal 4 microencapsulated by a microencapsulation technique described later. This liquid crystal 4 is a cholesteric liquid crystal. In addition,
5 is a binder. Generally, a cholesteric liquid crystal has a characteristic that the wavelength of scattered light from the liquid crystal changes depending on the temperature. In this embodiment, a liquid crystal having the characteristics shown in FIG. 3 is prepared by selecting a liquid crystal substance, a solvent and a mixing ratio thereof. That is, the liquid crystal 4 of this embodiment exhibits a colorless and transparent liquid state at a temperature near the body temperature (about 35 to 40 degrees), and at a lower temperature, the scattered light is colored purple or red. Have. In FIG. 3, the horizontal axis represents temperature, and the vertical axis represents the wavelength and color of scattered light. The liquid crystal film 3 is produced by a conventional microencapsulation technique. In this embodiment, the liquid crystal film 3 is produced by a phase separation method in a dilute polymer solution as follows. For example, a cholesteric liquid crystal to be microencapsulated is dissolved and dispersed in an organic solvent such as chloroform in a dilute solution of a polymer in which gelatin and gum arabic are mixed. Next, lower the pH of the aqueous solution to cause phase separation,
A hydrophilic polymer is attached around the liquid crystal material to form a coacervate and microencapsulate. This is formed into a film with a suitable binder 5 such as polyvinyl alcohol or starch paste, and the film 3 containing the microencapsulated liquid crystal 4 is printed on the contact lens body to obtain the contact lens 1 shown in FIG. is there. Thus, the microencapsulated cholesteric liquid crystal film 3 is formed on the surface of the contact lens body 2, and the cholesteric liquid crystal is in a colorless and transparent liquid state at a temperature near body temperature, and at a lower temperature. Since it has a coloring property, it is colorless and transparent like a normal contact lens because the temperature is around body temperature when the contact lens 1 is worn, but it is like dropping the contact lens. In this case, the temperature of the contact lens is lowered to around room temperature, and the contact lens is colored, so that the contact lens 1 can be found more easily than in the conventional example. The characteristics such as the refractive index can also be adjusted by the type or the mixing ratio of the liquid crystal substance and the solvent. FIG. 4 is a sectional view of another embodiment of the present invention. In the contact lens 10 of this embodiment, a microencapsulated liquid crystal layer 30 is formed inside the contact lens body 20 instead of on the surface, similarly to the above-described embodiment. In the above embodiment, the phase separation method in a dilute polymer solution was described as a liquid crystal microencapsulation technique. Of course, it may be performed. In the above-described embodiment, the cholesteric liquid crystal is used. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and another liquid crystal such as a nematic liquid crystal or a smectic liquid crystal may be used. (F) Effect As described above, according to the present invention,
At temperatures near body temperature, it is colorless and transparent, and at other temperatures, there is a liquid crystal that is colored, so if the contact lens is dropped, the temperature of the contact lens changes and it becomes colored. That is, a contact lens can be easily found. Also, by encapsulating the liquid crystal, even if a part of the film is damaged, the encapsulated liquid crystal in that part only loses its function, and the encapsulated liquid crystal in other parts does not evaporate etc. , The durability of the film is improved. In addition, since the liquid crystal is protected on the lens surface by putting the liquid crystal inside the contact lens, even if the contact lens is washed almost every day or the contact lens is dropped, as long as the contact lens itself is not broken The liquid crystal inside is not damaged.
