At least two times, one at the end of the coarse seek and the other at the end of the fine seek, are performed. The track address information at which the spot is located is read. In this case, in order to avoid an error in reading the address, the address information at the leading end of the sector is read over a plurality of sectors, and the read value is compared and confirmed. Incidentally, a device related to the above device is, for example, JP-A-58-91536.

Assuming that the rotation period of the optical disk is T, the number of sectors per track is S, and the number of confirmations is N, the average address read time t is t = 0.5 × (T / S) + (N−1) × (T / S ). If the number of sectors per track S is small and the number of confirmations N is large, the average address reading time t becomes longer. Normally, a value of N = 3 is used as the number of confirmations. In the fine and coarse two-step seek, an average address reading time of at least 2t is required. On the other hand, as the optical head moves faster, the ratio of the address reading time to the entire seek time is ignored. become unable.

If the error is within a certain error, the read address is used as the current address. If the error is large, the address reading is repeated and compared with the seek target address. Confirm. Also, the value of the permissible error is set to a different value in each stage of the fine seek and the coarse seek. When the error between the target address and the current address is large, the address reading is repeated, the read values are compared, and the read values match, but the target address is outside the allowable error range. Is a seek error.

At the end of the fine seek operation, the target address and the read current address should completely match. By verifying these, it can be determined whether or not the current address has been read normally. In the present invention, the number of times of address confirmation is almost one, so that the address reading time can be reduced. If reading is repeated over a plurality of sectors and the read values match, it is considered that the recording / reproducing head is on this track. Therefore, when the track is out of the allowable range of the target track, it is considered that a seek error has occurred,
If any of the repeatedly read address values do not match and vary, it is processed as a seek error as is well known.

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an embodiment of an optical disk seek method according to the present invention. Reproduction data signal 10 from recording / reproduction head 2
"0" is input to the data reproducing circuit 4, and the address information 102 and the address determination signal 104 are output. The address determination signal 104 becomes true when the light spot reads the address information portion at the head of the sector and the address information 102 is demodulated. When the address information is determined, the address determination signal 104 becomes false in the latter half of the sector. Even if the reading of the address information is unstable, the address determination signal 104 may become true due to noise or the like,
The address determination signal 104 is not a signal indicating the accuracy of the address information 102.

The coarse seek drive signal 108, which is the output of the coarse seek control circuit 8, is transmitted by the coarse seek / track following / fine seek switching signal 110 from the seek control device 6 through the changeover switch 10 connected to C during the coarse seek. The signal becomes a control signal 112, and the driver 12 moves the actuator 14 toward the target track.

Switch to side. A track shift error signal 116 indicating the relative positional relationship between the light spot and the track passes through the phase compensation circuit 16 to become a signal 118, and further becomes a control signal 112 via the changeover switch 10.
Drive 4 to control the light spot to follow the track. When the address determination signal 104 becomes true, the position error 122 between the address information 102 and the target track address 120 is obtained by the subtracter 18 and the absolute value
Is required. The absolute error 124 is compared with the seek allowable error 126 from the seek control device 6 by the comparator 22, and the absolute error 124
Is within the seek tolerance 126. In the case of this embodiment, the seek tolerance at the end of the coarse seek
The value of 126 is 32 tracks, and the above value is determined in advance from the positioning performance of the coarse seek servo system. The seek control unit 6 checks the address normal signal 128 output from the comparator 22, and if the absolute error 124 is within the seek allowable error 126, the read address information 102 has no error and the coarse seek is performed normally. It is determined that the process has been completed. If the absolute error 124 is equal to or larger than the seek allowable error 126, the read address information 102 is regarded as having an error or as a seek error. Then, by confirming that the address determination signal 104 becomes false and becomes true again, the re-reading of the address information 102 in the next sector and the address normal signal 128
When the absolute error 124 is within the seek allowable error 126, it is determined that the read address information 102 has no error and that the coarse seek has been completed normally.
Even if the address reading is repeated for 3 sectors or more, the absolute error is 124
Is larger than the seek allowable error 126, the seek control device 6 compares the stored previous address information with the current address information. If they match, the address reading is normal and the coarse seek operation is performed. Is determined to be defective, and sends a seek error signal 130 to a higher-level control device (not shown). In the above-described repeated reading, when the read address information has different values from each other and varies, it is processed as a seek error as is well known. After the coarse seek operation and the address confirmation are completed normally, the following (A)
The following operation is performed. (A) The seek control device 6 has a position error
The fine seek control circuit 24 is read and written into the fine seek control circuit 24 as the number 132 of fine seek tracks, and the changeover switch 10 is switched to the F side to generate a jump signal 134 from the fine seek control circuit 24. The jump signal 134 passes through the changeover switch 10 to become the control signal 112. The driver 12 drives the actuator 14 to jump the light spot for each track and to move it by the number of fine seek tracks 132. Upon receiving the fine seek completion signal 136 from the fine seek control circuit 24,
The seek controller 6 switches the changeover switch 10 to the T side in accordance with the coarse seek / track following / fine seek switching signal 110 to perform track following control, and resets the seek allowable error 126. In the case of this embodiment, the seek allowable error upon completion of the fine seek is two tracks, and this value is determined in advance from the positioning performance of the fine seek servo system. When the address determination signal 104 becomes true, the seek control device 6 reads the address information 102 and checks whether or not the position error 122 is zero. If the position error 122 is 0, it is determined that there is no error in the read address information 102 and that all seek operations have been completed normally, and a seek end signal
138 is sent to the host controller. If the position error 122 is not 0, it is confirmed that the address determination signal 104 becomes false and becomes true again, so that the address information 102 is re-read in the next sector and the position error 122 becomes 0.
Check again. When the position error 122 becomes 0, it is determined that there is no error in the read address information 102 and that all seek operations have been completed normally, and a seek end signal 138 is sent to the host controller. send. Even if the address reading is repeated for three or more sectors, the position error 122 is zero.
If not, the seek control device 6 compares the stored previous address information with the current address information.
If the two pieces of address information match and the absolute error is equal to or greater than the value of the seek allowable error 126, it is determined that the address reading is normal and the fine seek operation is defective, and the seek error signal 130 is sent to the host controller. send. If the previous address information matches the current address information and the absolute error is within the seek allowable error, it is determined that the address reading is normal and the fine seek operation has not been completed yet. ) Repeat the seek operation described below.

However, any of these can be substituted by computer software used in the seek control device 6. Although the present embodiment has been described using the two-stage seek method, the present invention can also be used with a positioning system having an accuracy capable of seeking a target track in one operation.

In an optical disk seek method for moving a recording / reproducing head of an optical disk device, an address read after a seek is compared with a seek target address, and if within an allowable error, the read address is used as a current address, and the read address and the target address are used. The address reading is repeated only when the error of the address is outside the allowable value, and the read addresses are compared with each other. If the value of the above address is largely different from the target address, a seek error is determined, By changing the value of the permissible error at each stage of the seek, the address confirmation is less repeated than before, the address reading time during the seek operation can be reduced without losing the reliability, and the seek operation can be reduced. Abnormality can be detected, improving the reliability of the entire optical disk device A.
