The conventional equipment is JIS C 9219 “Hot water storage type electric water heater”
As described in (1), as a means for preventing emptying, when water is not supplied into the tank, the heater is de-energized, or the heater is de-energized when the heater reaches a certain temperature. It was structured to stop.

The former of the prior art requires a sensor for detecting the presence or absence of water supply into the tank, and has a drawback that the structure is complicated. The latter has a simple structure, but requires that the operating value of the heat protector be set high so that it does not operate during normal use. For this reason, although the safety at the time of emptying can be ensured, there is a disadvantage that the heater is burned out and cannot be reused.

That is, in the normal state, the inside of the tank is full, and the periphery of the heater is in contact with water. Since the heat generated by the heater is designed to be efficiently transmitted to water, the temperature rise of the heater itself is within a safe range, and the heat conduction near the heater mounting portion is also small. However, at the time of emptying, since the surroundings of the heater are in contact with air having a lower thermal conductivity than water, the heat generated by the heater is not well transmitted to the air, causing a rapid rise in temperature of the heater itself.
Accordingly, heat conduction to the vicinity of the heater is increased.

Therefore, especially in the vicinity of the heater mounting portion, the difference between the temperature rise values per unit time during normal operation and during emptying is remarkable, and by detecting this difference, emptying can be prevented.

Based on this, the electric water heater of the present invention has a temperature sensor for detecting the water temperature in the tank near the heater mounting portion,
The detection value of the temperature sensor is compared with a re-detection value after a certain period of time, and if the difference is larger than a predetermined bottom value, the power supply to the heater is stopped.

According to this embodiment, emptying can be detected without having to operate the overheat protector, and it is possible to safely stop the heater 4 before the burnout of the heater 4. Further, since a special sensor for detecting the presence or absence of water supply into the tank is not required and can be constituted by a temperature sensor, there is an effect that the structure is simple and the manufacturing can be performed at low cost.

The above program, as shown in FIG.
May be repeated in a cycle of a fixed time, and the difference between the previous detection value and the current detection value may be used. Further, by comparing the boiling set value and the detected temperature within the same cycle, not only the accuracy of emptying detection can be improved, but also the temperature sensor 6 can have a function of a temperature controller.

According to the present invention, a temperature sensor for detecting the water temperature in the tank is mounted near the heater mounting portion of the electric water heater, and the temperature sensor detection value is compared with a re-detection value after a predetermined time, and the difference is determined in advance. When it is larger than a certain value, the power supply to the heater is stopped so that there is no need for a sensor to detect the presence or absence of special water supply or the temperature of a special place, so that safe and reliable emptying is possible. The prevention function can be obtained at a low cost with a simple configuration, and the detection value of the temperature sensor can be used together with the temperature controller.
