However, when pebbles or river sand are used as toilet sand, if they are washed with water, they can be used repeatedly two or three times, but they have low water absorption and deodorization power, and sand particles adhere to the feet of pets, thus contaminating the room. There are difficulties such as scratching and injuring the toes. In addition, zeolite is excellent in deodorization, but has disadvantages such as low water absorption. Those using bentonite can easily and selectively treat only water-absorbing substances because they form agglomerates when absorbing water. However, it has a low deodorizing power, and becomes a jelly-like substance when it absorbs water and adheres to the feet of pets. There are drawbacks. The above-mentioned conventional product has a small apparent specific gravity of about 1 and has poor workability during transportation and use. Further, when waste paper or pulp is formed into granules and used as toilet sand, since these treated materials are very light and fibrous, there is a problem that the body or limbs of pet animals splatter, and the room becomes dirty. Further, when a crushed material of lightweight cellular concrete is used, it is difficult to selectively remove only the excrement portion of the pet animal without agglomeration during water absorption.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides a lightweight and water-absorbing material.
Pet toilet sand containing two components, lightweight cellular concrete powder and bentonite, or other components in order to provide pet toilet sand that is extremely excellent in deodorization and easy to handle because of agglomeration. The proportions of the lightweight cellular concrete granules and bentonite are such that the porous lightweight cellular concrete particles are 70% or less by weight and 30% or more by weight, and the bentonite is 30% or more by weight and 70% by weight.
The following are characterized by being mixed and granulated.

[0006] The lightweight cellular concrete granules used in the present invention include, for example, a slurry obtained by mixing a siliceous raw material such as silica stone and a calcareous raw material such as cement and quicklime into a foamed material such as a foaming material and a foaming material. A known inorganic porous building material obtained by adding and mixing the forming material, foaming, curing, and curing with high-temperature and high-pressure steam can be used. Further, as the bentonite used in the present invention, natural bentonite produced in various places can be used, and may be appropriately pulverized.

[0008] The toilet sand of the present invention may contain components other than lightweight cellular concrete granules and bentonite. Components other than lightweight cellular concrete and bentonite include components such as various deodorants, germicides, colorants, adhesives or zeolites.
The pet litter for pets of the present invention is a granulated product obtained by mixing and granulating the raw materials by adhering powder particles to each other using an excipient or the like, and forming a granulated product into a granulated product. It is excellent and does not easily adhere to the limbs of pets and is easy to handle. In addition, the particle size may be appropriately adjusted by pulverizing and classifying according to the purpose of use, but if the whole is about 1 to 8 mm, while maintaining water absorption, the effect of being less likely to scatter becomes more excellent. . Particularly, the particle size is preferably about 2 to 5 mm.

That is, by mixing and granulating the lightweight cellular concrete and the bentonite, the lightweight cellular concrete and the bentonite exhibit a water absorbing power higher than that of the bentonite itself, and the agglomeration is promoted more than that of the bentonite itself. Thus, a synergistic effect between the two can be achieved. Therefore, without using special raw materials or through complicated manufacturing processes, it is lightweight, easy to work such as transportation, excellent in water absorption and deodorization, and after stool treatment to form nodules. Easy-to-use pet toilet sand is obtained.

Example 1 Aluminum powder was added to a mixed slurry containing 65% of siliceous raw material and 35% of calcareous raw material as a main raw material, foamed and hardened, and then subjected to a hydrothermal treatment by high-temperature and high-pressure steam curing. The granules obtained by crushing the porous lightweight aerated concrete were used. The particle size was 3 mm below the sieve. The bentonite used was a crushed natural bentonite from Niigata having a particle size of about 2 mm. 70 parts by weight of the powdery granules composed of these calcium silicate hydrates,
30 parts by weight of the pulverized natural bentonite was sufficiently dry-blended in a kneader equipped with stirring blades, and then kneaded while adding water to obtain a granulated product. Next, the granules were sieved to obtain 2 to 5 mm pet toilet sand.

The water absorbency, deodorizing property, apparent specific gravity at the time of absolute drying, and nodularity of the pet toilet sand produced as described above were measured or observed. For water absorption, place the sample in a container
cm and poured 10 g of water to show nodularity.
The weight of the solidified portion was measured, and the ratio of the weight of water to the weight of the sample was calculated. For deodorization, 1 g of the sample agglomerated in the above water absorption test was allowed to stand in a closed container under 1% ammonia gas, and the change over time in the residual concentration of ammonia gas in the atmosphere was measured. (As a control, only 1% ammonia gas was sealed in the same closed container, and the residual concentration after 5 minutes was observed. The concentration was almost the same as that at the time of disclosure.) The nodularity refers to the mold mat sample after water injection. To observe how the particles collapsed (whether or not each particle could maintain a nodular state when crushed).

[0015] Further, a consumer test was carried out on the present example by a person having a cat. In the consumer test, those who conventionally used commercially available pet sand were asked to actually use the sample of this example for one month instead, and received a questionnaire and opinions. The test results were as shown in Table 1.

Comparative Example 1 Bentonite and zeolite in a weight ratio of 3: 7
Was subjected to a comparative test using the same test method as described in Example 1 for a commercially available granulated product having a total particle size of 2 to 5 mm under a sieve. Table 1 shows the results of comparison with the examples. The water-absorbed granulated product did not show sufficient nodularity and easily collapsed when pressed with a finger.

Comparative Example 3 A light-weight cellular concrete granule having an overall particle size of 2 to 5 mm under a sieve was subjected to a comparative test by the same test method as described in Example 1. In addition, since the powdery granules do not show agglomeration, the ratio of the water absorption after 24 hours immersion in water to the weight of the sample was calculated. Table 1 shows the results of comparison with the examples.

As is clear from Table 1, the sample of the example has a smaller apparent specific gravity than the bentonite alone, the water absorption is larger than that of the bentonite and the lightweight cellular concrete itself, and the deodorizing performance is high. Even in the state, it is equal to or more than the zeolite mixture of Comparative Example 1. From this, it is understood that the deodorizing property in the defecation state is also excellent. In consumer tests, many respondents said that the product is lightweight, easy to carry and lay down, does not give off bad smell after pet stool, does not stain the area around the toilet, and is easy to treat. Furthermore, when handling pet's limbs and test articles, powdery substances do not adhere to hands and work can be performed without contamination.
