2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a printer that prints on a sheet by a print head using an electronic computer, a word processor, or the like has been conventionally configured as shown in FIG. That is, the print head 2 and the platen 3 are arranged opposite to each other on the upper part of the printer main body 1, and the cut sheet 5 is placed on a horizontal table 4 provided on the upper front side of the printer main body 1 on the paper insertion side. Of the cut sheet 5 by the transport rollers 6 provided on both sides of the platen 3
The print head 2 was fed above to perform printing. When printing on the continuous paper 7, a pull tractor 8 provided with sprockets meshing with guide holes formed on both sides of the continuous paper 7 as shown in FIG. Thus, the continuous paper 7 is fed onto the platen 3 through the horizontal table 4.
Reference numeral 9 denotes a cover for covering the printing section.

According to the above-described conventional printer, setting of the cut sheet 5 is easy and excellent in operability, and since the cut sheet 5 is inserted straight from the side, printing can be performed without bending. In addition, since the transport rollers 6 are provided before and after the print head 2, the single form 5 can be completely nipped and transported, and printing can be performed on the short form 5 as well. However, when printing on the continuous paper 7, the drive by the transport roller 6 must be released and driven by the pull tractor 8, so that it is necessary to raise the upper roller of the transport roller 6 to create a gap, and the mechanism becomes complicated. There was a problem. In addition, when printing on the cut sheet 5, it is necessary to remove the continuous paper 7 from the platen 3, and the operation is troublesome.

A printer disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 56-159186 proposed by the present applicant to solve this problem is known. In this proposal, as shown in FIG. 5, a pull tractor 8 is arranged at the lower part of the discharge side of the printer main body 1, and the continuous paper 7
Is wound around the platen 3 from below without passing through the transport roller 6, and pulled out rearward. According to this proposal, it is not necessary to cancel the drive by the transport roller 6 when printing on the continuous paper 7. On the other hand, even when printing on the cut sheet 5, it is not necessary to remove the continuous paper 7 from the platen 3 and the simultaneous setting property can be obtained. Therefore, the continuous paper 7 and the cut sheet 5 can be printed at the same time, and the print on the continuous paper 7 can be stored as a record.

However, according to this proposal, since the continuous paper 7 is set from the rear and discharged from the rear, there is a problem that unprinted paper and printed paper overlap in an actual use condition, When the winding angle of the paper 7 around the platen 3 becomes large and several pieces of copy paper are printed, there is a problem that a printing shift occurs on the inner paper outer paper. Further, particularly, if the perforation of the continuous paper 7 is over the printing portion, the angle of winding the continuous paper 7 around the platen 3 is large, so that the continuous paper 7 may be bent into a mountain shape at the perforation and a single sheet may be jammed. , Continuous paper 7
When printing on the cut sheet 5 with the set, the printing portion has to be checked, and there is a problem that the operability is poor.

The purpose of the above is to provide a printing unit at the boundary between a printing unit that prints on single sheets and continuous paper and a substantially horizontal single-sheet conveyance path (extending the horizontal table and having conveyance rollers for conveying the single sheets). A guide section formed diagonally upward to guide the continuous paper to the printing section at the front side of the cut sheet transport path, and the continuous sheet is transported to the lower side of the cut sheet transport path at the back of the print section. And a continuous paper driving means (pull tractor) that conveys the sheet obliquely downward toward the discharging section.

According to the above arrangement, the winding angle of the continuous paper around the platen can be reduced as compared with the above-described conventional technology. Therefore, for example, even when a cut sheet and a continuous sheet are printed at the same time, the cut sheet does not form a mountain shape when the perforations of the continuous sheet reach the printing portion, and the cut sheet is conveyed smoothly.

FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of the present invention. In this figure, the same or equivalent parts as those of the conventional example shown in FIG. 5 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof will be omitted. The feature of the present invention lies in the configuration of the transport path of the continuous paper 7. A guide 10 is provided below the horizontal table 4 in the printer main body 1 to insert the continuous paper 7 from outside and guide it to the platen 3. The horizontal table 4 is rotatable upward with one end on the platen 3 side as a fulcrum. The pull tractor 8 is provided on the discharge side of the platen 3 in the printer main body 1. On the upper surface of the guide section 10, a sheet holder 11 is provided so as to be elastically urged so as to press the continuous sheet 7 in the direction of the guide section 10. Further, the cover 9 is rotatable upward with the vicinity of the end on the discharge side of the printer body 1 as a fulcrum.

The operation of the present embodiment will be described below. The cut sheet is inserted from the upper surface of the horizontal table 4, conveyed by the conveying rollers 6, and reaches the lower part of the print head 2. Printing is performed on the cut sheet 5 by the print head 2 between the print head 2 and the platen 3, and after printing, the print is discharged by the transport roller 6 or returned to the horizontal table 4 again.

When printing on the continuous paper 7, insert the leading end of the continuous paper 7 on the guide section 10 below the horizontal table 4,
Through the platen 3 below the print head 2, and engages unillustrated guide holes formed on both sides of the continuous paper 7 with the sprocket of the pull tractor 8. Then, the pull tractor 8 is operated to sequentially print on the continuous paper 7 by the print head 2, and is stacked on the lower part of the printer main body 1 on the discharge side. At this time, if the horizontal table 4 is rotated upward about one end on the platen side, the setting operation of the continuous paper 7 becomes easy. Similarly, if the cover 9 is rotated upward, the operation of engaging the continuous paper 7 with the pull tractor 8 through the space between the print head 2 and the platen 3 becomes easy.

According to the present embodiment, since the continuous paper 7 is inserted from the front and can be set in the printing unit without passing through the transport roller 6 and printing can be performed, the upper portion of the transport roller 6 can be used even when printing on the continuous paper 7. There is no need to release the drive by releasing the roller from the lower roller. Also, when printing on the cut sheet 5, it is not necessary to remove the continuous paper 7 wound on the platen 3, and the operability is remarkably improved because of the simultaneous setting property. Further, since printing can be performed on the cut sheet 5 and the continuous paper 7 at the same time, there is an effect that the record can be stored.

According to the present embodiment, the continuous paper 7 can be automatically loaded only by engaging the leading end of the continuous paper 7 with the drive roller 12, and the operability is further improved. This is possible because the change in the angle of winding of the continuous paper 7 around the platen 3 is small. Also in the present embodiment, the first

As described above, since the continuous paper guide section is provided below the horizontal table on which the cut sheets are placed and the pull tractor is provided below the cut sheet transport path, the operability of setting the continuous paper is improved, and
It is possible to easily reduce the winding angle of the platen for the cut sheet and the continuous paper with the single printer.
