置を構成する現像装置へのトナーの補給手段として、例
えば図3に示す断面図の如きカートリッジ方式がある。
この方式は現像装置本体(1)の上面にトナー受け口
(1a)を設けて、その両側に設けられた鍵形案内具
(1b)による、トナーカートリッジ(3)の縁部(3
a)の案内により、トナー放出口(3b)がトナー受け
口(1a)に一致するまでトナーカートリッジ(31)
を差込んだのち、図示しない手段によりトナー放出口
(3b)を閉塞している閉塞板(3c)を外部から引き
出すことにより、トナー放出口(3b)を開口してカー
トリッジ(3)内のトナー(2)を現像装置本体(1)
のトナーホッパ(1c)内に所用量宛落とし込んで補給
するようにしたものである。なお図3において(1d)
はトナー残量検知センサ、(1e)は攪拌装置、(1
f)はマグネットローラ、(1g)は感光ドラム、(1
h)はトナー層厚規制板である。しかし周知のようにト
ナー(2)は、1成分のものであっても2成分のもので
あっても、例えば10数ミクロン径を平均粒径とする極
微粒の粉末体である。このためカートリッジ(3)から
のトナーホッパ(1c)内へのトナー(2)の補給時は
もとより、現像装置本体(1)を傾けたり振動させた
り、更には攪拌装置(1e)によるトナーを攪拌したと
き、トナー(2)が舞上がってトナーホッパ(1c)内
を霧状となって浮遊する。このため現像装置本体(1)
のトナー受け口(1a)の設置面と、トナーカートリッ
ジ(3)の四周縁部(3a)との間に隙間があると、舞
上がった微粒のトナー(2)は隙間を介して外部に漏出
して周囲を汚す。そこでこれを防止するため従来から次
の手段が採られている。即ち現像装置本体(1)の上表
面に設けたトナー受け口(1a)の四周縁部に、図4
(a)に示す平面図のように、ウレタン等の弾性材によ
る所要の厚みをもたせた4個の角棒状シール部材(4
a)を枠状に貼りつけ、トナー受け口(1a)に装着さ
れたトナーカートリッジ(3)の四周縁部(3a)の面
が、枠状シール材(4)の面上に圧接されるようにして
隙間をなくすことが行われている。
