Abstract

A page holder is a necessity when reading, and many proposals have been made for it. Traditionally, paperweights have been used for the same purpose, but several different sizes are required depending on the situation. If they are small, they are useless, and if they are large, they get in the way of reading and require constant movement, which is troublesome to use.

Means for solving the problem

In order to achieve the above object, the device is made up of a weight 1 and a page pressing part 5, with the weight 1 being made of metals such as cast iron, iron, and stainless steel, minerals such as stone, and porcelain. The page pressing part 5 is made of piano wire or hard steel wire with a diameter of about 1 mm. The working dimension of the page pressing part 5, measured from the hole 2 at the mounting position to the tip of the page pressing part 5, is suitably 20 to 30 cm, but this may be changed depending on the usage situation. The shape is roughly V-shaped with the tip of the page pressing part 5 as the apex, and this is made into an arc shape from the hole 2 at the mounting position to the tip of the page pressing part 5.
The wire 3 is attached to a hole 2 provided in the weight portion 1, and a bent portion 4 is provided midway in the wire 3 to reduce the width of the page pressing portion 5 at the tip.

The action of the above means is that by configuring the weight part 1 and the page pressing part 5, the weight part 1 can be removed from the reader's field of vision and does not interfere with reading. By using a spring such as a piano wire for the page pressing part 5, pressure is constantly applied to the pages, and the page pressing part 5 acts as a bookmark to indicate the middle of reading. Also, the page pressing part 5 can be removed from the reader's field of vision and the weight part 1 can be used as a paperweight.

The wire 3 is attached to two holes 2 in the weight section 1, so that the wire 3 can return to its original horizontal deformation (range a in Figure 1), and the arc from the attachment hole 2 to the tip of the page holder 5 can return to its original vertical deformation (range b in Figure 2). The bent section 4 in the middle of the wire 3 reduces the width of the wire 3, so that the wire 3 does not become an eyesore when reading. The bent section 4 can also be tightened to reduce the horizontal deformation range a of the spring.

Effect of the invention

The weight part (1) is removed from the reader's field of vision, and the page pressing part 5 tracks the reading position, preventing skipping over the page and functioning as a marker when reading is interrupted. The page pressing part 5 may also be removed from the reader's field of vision and the weight part (1) may be used as a paperweight.
As described above, the page holder 5 of the present invention securely holds down a specified page, and has the effect of realizing a page holder in which the weight portion 1 is out of the line of sight when reading, and which does not interfere with reading and is not an eyesore.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the book placed on a desk, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the book. The present invention is composed of a weight part 1 and a page pressing part 5. The weight part 1 in this figure is cylindrical, but it is not limited to a cylindrical shape, and may be a cube or rectangular parallelepiped with a horizontal base, with the weight of the weight part 1 being enough to press down the pages, and with a hole 2 for attaching the page pressing part 5.

Weight 1 is preferably made of heavy material such as metal, stone or porcelain, and page retainer 5 is made of springy wire such as piano wire or hard steel wire with a diameter of about 1 mm. The working dimension of page retainer 5, measured from attachment hole 2 to the tip of page retainer 5, is preferably 20 to 30 cm. The shape is roughly V-shaped with the tip of page retainer 5 as the apex, and this is made to form an arc from attachment hole 2 to the tip of page retainer 5. Weight 1 may also be covered with a synthetic resin case, leather or cloth.

Claims (1)

A wire (3 ) bent into a roughly V-shape with a bent part (4) in the middle is attached to a hole (2) provided in the weight part (1), and the wire (3) forms a gentle arc from the hole (2) to the page holding part (5), with the apex of the V-shape being the page holding part (5).
