しかしながら、体圧は一定ではない。環境の圧力が変化すると、体圧は大気圧に従う。その理由に以下が挙げられる。
・高度(例えば登山時)に起因する圧力変化
・航空機内の圧力変化
これらの大気圧変化の大きさは、圧力差測定と同程度、又はそれを上回るものである。
・測定中、空気の圧縮性に応じてチタン製ダイアフラムが動く。反ったチタン箔の固有応力は測定に影響を及ぼす。
・水圧作動式インプラントであって、尿道を閉じることで患者が失禁を我慢できる状態にしたり、尿道を開けて患者に排尿させたりできるもの
・水圧作動流体には食塩水を用い、機械駆動式又は電気駆動式ポンプによって移動させられる。
・尿道カフ圧と生体腹部圧力との間の完全な差圧測定
この用途において、植込み可能な差圧センサは、体液でなく食塩水溶液を有する環境に埋め込まれる。両圧力側部のいずれにも体液は存在しない。この場合、ダイアフラム(図6)を保護する追加の措置は不要である。
