Abstract
Description
The present disclosure relates to methods of making fluoroethers.
Fluoroethers in which the α-position carbon is fluorinated (α-fluoroethers) are useful as refrigerants, solvents, medicines, agricultural chemicals, functional materials, and the like. Methods for producing α-fluoroethers are broadly classified into a method of etherifying a fluorine-containing compound and a method of fluorinating a hydrocarbon ether. The former method has advantages over the latter method in that mild reaction conditions can be employed, special equipment is not required, and the fluorine introduction position can be easily controlled. Examples of the former method include a method of reacting a perfluoroalkoxide with a bromide or an iodide (for example, Non-Patent Documents 1 to 3), and a method of reacting a perfluoroalkoxide with an activated chloride such as RCF 2 Cl. A method (for example, Patent Literature 1) is known to cause the
In the methods of Non-Patent Documents 1 to 3, α-fluoroether can be obtained in a high yield when a highly reactive bromide or iodide is used as a raw material, but when a less reactive chloride is used as a raw material, , the α-fluoroether is not obtained or the yield is very low. On the other hand, the method of Patent Document 1 gives α-fluoroethers in high yields when activated chlorides such as RCF 2 Cl are used as raw materials. Non-Patent Document 1 reports that an α-fluoroether can be obtained in a low yield when a relatively highly reactive benzylic chloride such as PhCH 2 Cl (Ph: phenyl) is used as a starting material. , alkyl chlorides having no substituents that are less electronically reactive, secondary or tertiary alkyl chlorides that are sterically disadvantageous in the progress of the reaction, and the like, as starting materials, are more difficult to react.
The main object of the present disclosure is to provide a method for producing an α-fluoroether starting from an unactivated chloride.
